Okay, guys, I'm going to try and get these little challenge things happening again (and on a monthly basis), so here we go. With any luck, we'll see more entries than the zero from my last attempt. Challenge Name:[/u] "Worlds Collide" Fandoms:[/u] Anything you like - and two of them. If I haven't seen it, so be it, since I'm looking for something "interesting" (worst case scenario, I can do a little research). Setting / Requirements:[/u] Take two separate fandoms, and cross them over. For example, the Doctor (Doctor Who) and his new companion Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) travel through time, dusting vampires throughout history. These two fandoms can never have crossed over canonically before. In broad strokes, you cannot tell a Buffy/Angel story, but you can tell a Buffy/Firefly one if you so desire. Entries and Word Limit:[/u] Up to two entries per person, and no more than 2,500 words per entry. If it comes to less, that's always good, just don't post a novel. Prizes:[/u] I'll try and wrangle some banner sets from someone for First, Second, Third, and "Wackiest Worlds" (ie the weirdest crossover). Rating:[/u] Nothing 'R' or above, it shouldn't be necessary. Please indicate the rating in your notes. Deadline:[/u] Friday, December 7 Monday, January 14. So, that's it. If you have any questions, pop me a PM and I'll be more than happy to answer them.

I would but I don't really like mixing fandoms. Fics where I try to always end up really, really lame.

I just got an idea for one last night/this morning. Are we extending the challenge into December, due to lack of entries? I might have time to whip this one up before Christmas...assuming it looks as good on paper as it sounds in my head.

Given the lack of entries, and if people are interested, I'm happy to extend it. With Christmas and New Year coming up and people being busy, let's add an extra week onto the month, and call it Monday, Jan 14.

I should have mine ready by then, if I can make it past the first paragraph and take it with me to Disney. I'm not promising it'll be any good, though.

Oh thanks for extending, Allan! I've been meaning to write an entry but time hasn't gone my way. I should be able to come up with something by Jan 14 - assuming I have internet access and all.

Okay, so I didn't get any takers, so I'll ask one last time (because I'd like to see challenges happen again) - is it worth trying again?
And if so, would a different challenge be more likely to inspire people to write?

I love to write, and the only times I seem to do it is for challenges and helping with Dominion. (I guess I have to have the idea or basic premise given to me to get started.) So, I'd like to see challenges. I'm just not good at crossovers.

I'm sorry I didn't enter like I said I would. But with the move and settling in and all, I didn't have the time and brain space to come up with one. I would enter challenges if it didn't involve crossovers (though Buffy/Angel is alright with me). Mostly because the only fanfic I'm comfortable in writing is Buffy/Angel. I've never tried writing any other fanfic as I'm not confident about it. If the challenge solely focuses on the Buffy/Angel 'verse, I'll enter.

I'd like to see some fic that isn't Buffy or Angel, but I can always keep fandoms open so people can do what they want, as well as do some Jossverse ones, too. Thanks, guys, I'll give it some thought.

Try one more challenge but if it gets no participation then I think this section will need to be closed. This isn't the only challenge not to get much response.

Even if the next challenge do get entries, I doubt it would be many. There aren't many regular writers here.

I was thinking of it as one last attempt, basically. There was an interest a while ago, so I was thinking I'd see if people were still up for it. Even if the next challenge do get entries, I doubt it would be many. There aren't many regular writers here. Sadly, not as many as there were. Hopefully some of the people who entered the previous ones will stop by and will enter. It'd be good to get more participation in here.

I'm always interested--I at least read through the challenge directions and prompt and everything. But, unfortunately, my interest isn't the only thing that decides if I enter. If we were a larger forum, or if every single regular member here was a writer, it might get regular attention. Sadly, neither is the case. I'm all for giving it a last shot, though. I might be wrong.
