Whenever we have a new year upon us, we can always expect to see retrospectives of the past year from every outlet, about every possible thing. The news is notorious for this, and this is no different. It's the weirdest news of 2007, and it's, well...weird. Updated link: The article.

Bugger. I checked it last night after posting and it was working. I'll see if I can hunt down the article and update the link. EDIT - I've updated the link, and it looks like an archived version, so hopefully it won't go disappearing any time soon.

"Every story needs a happy ending and Bangkok delivered for this one. A 76-year-old Malay Muslim woman from southern Thailand got on the wrong bus 25 years ago and got lost, ending up living as a beggar at the other end of the country.
But in 2007 she was finally reunited with her family."
Wow, how crazy is that?

There was a lot of crazy stuff in there! It's nice to hear that she was reunited with her family, but how could she have gotten that lost? Surely someone would have tried to help her, or her family would have been able to find her.

I imagine they wanted her lost and didn't look for her at all

That's what I thought when I first read the article, too. But the optimist in me really hopes that isn't the case.
