The Eisner Awards are the most prestigious awards for comic books, and Joss, along with a few others, have received some nominations for the 2008 awards. The nominations relevant to Joss fans are as follows (in order of the nominations since I can't be bothered sorting them any better way ): Best Single Issue (or One-Shot):Justice League of America #11: “Walls,” by Brad Meltzer and Gene Ha (Brad Meltzer is writing an upcoming Buffy season 8 arc) Best Continuing Series: ( two nominations) Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 8, by Joss Whedon, Brian K. Vaughan, Georges Jeanty, and Andy Owens Y: The Last Man, by Brian K. Vaughan, Pia Guerra, and Jose Marzan, Jr. (Brian K Vaughan wrote the second season 8 arc - he's also a writer on Lost) Best New Series:Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 8, by Joss Whedon, Brian K. Vaughan, Georges Jeanty, and Andy Owens Best Digital Comic:Sugarshock!, by Joss Whedon and Fabio Moon, www.myspace.com/darkhorsepres...m=1&storynum=2Best Writer: ( two nominations) Brian K. Vaughan, Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Ex Machina; Y: The Last Man Joss Whedon, Astonishing X-Men; Buffy the Vampire Slayer Best Cover Artist:John Cassaday, Astonishing X-Men Best ColoringDave Stewart, BPRD; Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Cut; Hellboy; Lobster Johnson; The Umbrella Academy; The Spirit It's disappointing to see that Jo Chen didn't get a nomination for her Buffy covers (because they are phenomenal, even by comic cover standards), but otherwise, it's all quite cool to see. I'm surprise that Jo Chen isn't nominated as well. I'm not a big comic reader but Jo Chen's covers are the best I've seen around and it's a shame that she missed out. I'm surprise Sugar Shock got nominated though. I didn't think it was that good. When will the awards be given out?

July 25, so there's still a way to go.
I haven't read Sugarshock yet (nor any of the other digital comics nominated), but Karl Kerschl who is up against Joss in that category has done some great stuff.
