Generally a good idea or bad idea? Where has it worked? Should they only ever use the same actors? Personally I think it only works with the same actors from the show. Like Continuum or Serenity. I don't like old TV Shows being made into movies Like Bewitched for example. It just ends up... bad There must be some good ones, that I can't think of right now so discuss!

Personally, I think it's a bad idea - though Serenity was an exception.
If the TV show has ended, let it be.

I didn't mind Charlie's Angels, but I've never seen the TV show. I really liked the Sex and the City movie. Transformers was pretty good, too. Obviously Serenity was great. And I really like the Star Trek movies from The Original Series. So I think it can work if done right.

Charlie's Angels (the first, because the second was pretty terrible) was a great modernisation of the old series. And Starsky & Hutch is a favourite of mine. As for Bewitched, I liked it for what it was. It wasn't so much a remake of the TV series, but more a love letter from the creators about it. It was more about why Bewitched should never be remade. But I do prefer it when they use the original cast and crew, and have the movie continuing the show's storyline.

Which TV Shows do you feel were done justice by the movies made from them? Which ones weren't?

Serenity obviously did justice to the show. I can't say about ones that didn't as I've never really watched most of the tv show movies. Mostly because I didn't follow the tv shows much. The ones I've watched (and I can remember) were Serenity and Transformers (just the first movie). I found both didn't suck.

I think it can be a good idea sometimes. Especially if the show is cancelled or ended and the writers want to continue it. It worked really well for Sex and the City. I've never seen the show, but the movies were a hit. And transformers as well.

Not much discussion in this. What do you think the other way around, movies that are turned into TV Shows?

I guess it really depends on the movie and what kind of story it is. But I generally think it's a good idea as TV is a great way to explore the story more. You sort of have an 'unlimited time' to flesh out the story and not a 2hr limit.
I can't think of a movie-tv-show that didn't work well. Though it hasn't been happening much lately has it?

I can't think of any that have failed miserably off hand, other than the million cartoons (Aladdin etc)

Neither but I have heard that Skins and 24 are both meant to be getting made into movies.
24 would be a long movie...

I don't know many movies made into TV shows (other than Buffy and Disney), but the Arrested Development movie seems to be more set in stone, so I'm stoked about that.

So now FNL is another show that is being talked about as being made into a movie. Do not want. FNL ended perfectly so I don't see why a movie needed to be made. I would rather have them continue the show with another season to be honest. For a show like FNL, the story needs to be told over episodes rather than in one 2hr movie. Any recent movies you've seen so far that you think would make a good TV show? One I can think of is Sunshine Cleaning. Wasn't a big fan of the movie but I think it could work quite well as a TV show. And not exactly a recent movie but I feel some big studio need to come up with a Superman TV show now that Smallville is over.

There is already a FNL movie, though I don't know how it ties into the show as I haven't watched the show. I haven't seen any movie lately that deserves its own TV show except maybe a Hogwarts one... that would be kind of cool but I would be terrified of it ruining Harry Potter or sucking so I am not too sure how much I'd want something like that made

I wouldn't be surprise if something like that happen now that HP is over. Yeah, FNL had a movie first before it was quite different from the TV show so it would seem like this movie would be the first of its kind.

We have enough Harry potter in the world I can't take any more . I never really think of many movies being made into shows, I don't think that creatively lol. I liked FNL it's kind of sentimental to me because I remember watching it every Friday when Emily was first born but I don't get alot of the hype surrounding it, I don't think a new movie is a good idea at all.

I love the TV Show Bewitched but the Movie was Horrible, it turned a fantastic Family Comedy into a Rotten Joke, this is what the movie felt like to me.
