Real Madrid v Tottenham Hotspur Chelsea v Manchester UnitedBarcelona v Shakhtar (although I think this has potential for an upset) Inter v Schalke Liked this coach quote : "I'd prefer not to come up against Shakhtar because I know them well and don't like them," Had me , not sure why lol.

Shakhtar are the underdog team right now. And if I'm not wrong, they met Barca last season (or a few seasons ago) and kicked them out of the competition so there is a high chance of a upset there.

Marie!!! I did not know that Shaikra was dating Pique! I thought she was married to some son of the PM of Columbia or something. Found out about this when I read that RM banned all of her music because he plays for Barca.

I didn't hear about RM banning her music, but I did see a headline about her dating Pique not too long ago--or maybe it was a spot on an entertainment news show. I'm not a fan of hers, but it totally figures that RM would do something nutso like that in response. I just finished reading White Storm. It gives a great insight into the culture that is Real Madrid. I'm a huge fan of the team but, and I think this is largely because I didn't grow up in the Franco era and I don't live in Spain, I'm nothing like what the book describes a fan to be! Anyway, I was upset when I saw we were facing Tottenham, because my beloved VDV plays for them now, but given all the other choices, I guess I'm happier facing them than Barca or Man United. I will cheer every time VDV plays well and root for RM the rest of the time. I'm sure my cousin's thrilled that United's facing Chelsea. I can't wait to read his rants about the game on Facebook.

Tomorrow's the match! Looking forward to it. For the team news, I hear Bale and Ronaldo may not play. That sucks. I really want to see the two of them on the same pitch. Probably won't be that exciting now. Would be a tight game. Can't remember who's at home. But if it's Spurs, I think they'll win it. ManU play on Thurs. Have a feeling we'll lose and then win the tie when we play them at home in the 2nd leg.

Doesn't look like Spurs are going to get much in their 2nd leg. They would need a miracle!
Very surprised with the outcome of the Inter/Schalke game. Would be an interesting 2nd leg for those two. And what a goal by Schalke! Best of the season in my opinion.

Just saw the game... congrats Manchester United.
I wish my beloved Juventus had been in this cup too.

Sooo glad we won as I really thought we weren't. Got away with from dodgy refereeing though.

I'm not surprised Real won. I'm more surprised at the margin. The second leg is at White Hart Lane, so it's possible that they could muster enough to make the come back needed, although it's really very unlikely. I was disappointed they didn't show that game as I wanted to see VDV play. And, during the pre-game before the Inter match they were previewing both matches and VDV was chosen as the player to watch from Spurs, so I really wanted to see that match after that! I hope he at least played well. The Inter v. Schalke match was absolutely marvelous to watch! That first goal by Inter was just amazing. Watching Raul play is always a treat. He was also picked by the commentators as the player to watch for Schalke. So three of the four players picked were current or former Real squad members. He did some great work in that game and scored a goal. I was rooting for Schalke--really only because of Raul (amazing that he's still in a white kit, as it should be). But I was glad to see them win. The second leg is at Schalke, so I doubt Inter will make a comeback, although they don't have quite as big a comeback as Tottenham or Shakhtar, so I guess if it's possible that Tottenham MIGHT do it, it's possible that Inter could do it as well. Chivu got sent off with a red card. I'm not completely sure I agree with the ruling. It wasn't like he was playing rough through the entire game. But, I didn't see the play real well, so... I could see where the ref was coming from, especially as he'd already been issued one yellow, but I don't really think the intent was there. They did not air the Barcelona match--well, maybe they did. I had to work Wednesday and missed the coverage. I think they showed one of the matches, but I can't remember. I couldn't watch it, so why bother checking the TV listings for it? Anyway, I checked the score on my Google calendar after work and saw that they'd won. It wasn't a surprising result, but I was hoping to see them get knocked out of the competition. The United/Chelsea match really could have gone one of several ways. I wasn't really sure what to predict with that one.

The semi-finals are shaping up to be epic! Schalke v Manchester United Real Madrid v Barcelona Semi-finals - 26/27 April and 3/4 May Pretty surprise at how well Schalke are doing in Europe as they aren't at home. So it will be another German team for us in the semis. Glad we are away first. We always do well when the second leg is at home. ;D Pretty sure Barca is going to win their match so I'm predicting a ManU/Barca final.

Barca's defeat to RM in the Copa del Rey final makes me think that there might be a possibility of RM going into the final of the Champions League. If United were through, I would rather have RM in the final that Barca. I want to beat RM so I can see that Ronaldo cry!

Today's Copa del Rey final was the most intense 120 minutes of TV I've ever watched. It was epic and I wish I'd been at Mestalla in person to see it. No words can describe my emotions and reactions to the game.
We tied our league classic against Barcelona on Saturday and won today's game, so we're in great position going into the semifinals. The upside, I should be able to watch the games on TV here (if I don't have to work--I think I work next Tuesday, though...pout) and I know they'll be great. The downside, you know Barcelona's going to be coming at us with a vengeance and next week's meeting will be even more heated than today's copa final. I believe we're at home first, so that could give Barca an extra advantage in the second leg depending on what the result is after the first game. My fingers will definitely be crossed and I'll be very nervous until this is all finished!
Barca's looking at winning the league, although we're not mathematically out of the running just yet--though I don't think things will break the way we need them to to top the league this season, so I'm glad we won la copa and I think we can eke out a trip to the UCL finals, too. Barca plays too recklessly. If we play like we played today, instead of more defensively like on Saturday, we should be in good shape to pull ahead of Barca. I haven't agreed with Mourinho's line-up the last couple games, but it's been working for us, so I guess I shouldn't complain. Actually, I take that back. Today's line-up was fine. It was Saturday's I really didn't like.

Marie! Cannot believe they destroyed the trophy! I thought it was a joke until I saw the footage of it.

I know! How awful--and just imagine how Ramos feels about it! I wouldn't have believed it, either, except the first time I saw anything about it was on the BBC world news--so I knew it wasn't a joke.

Semi-finals start tomorrow! I'm excited. ;D Not very confident with our game tomorrow. As long as we get that away goal, I don't care what the score is to be honest. I'm sure we'll get the job done when we are back home in the 2nd leg. What I'm wary of is our history with German teams. We never do well against them.

We lost--at home, so there goes our morale advantage--and after winning the Copa del Rey, too. The set up doesn't get much more positive than that. I expect we'll be playing with a vengeance Tuesday. We didn't win by so much that we couldn't stage a comeback, but it will be very, very difficult. My fingers will be crossed--and hopefully they show the game here so that I can be close to having a heart attack for 90+ minutes that afternoon. I tell you, there's nothing more nerve-wracking than a good football game.

I'm still rooting for an RM upset! But it's going to be tough and if does happen, it would be one of the greatest comeback in Europe football in my opinion. And after what happened during the 1st leg, I expect another fiery affair. Should be good.

ManU are through to the finals and are one point away from winning out 19th English title - breaking Liverpool's record.

It's been a crazy season this year I'm just glad Newcastle never got really stuck in the epic relegation struggle. As for the champions league final, it's gonna be a repeat of a few years ago, Barcelona to win it. (:

I don't fancy us winning either. Barca are just too good in my opinion. Oh sure. Arsenal lost the title waaaay back in December.
