Who's your favorite non-doll character? Why? Which do you like the least? I just picked these out of season 1 characters, so if there are any from season two that you like, go ahead and discuss them.

My favourite character would be Ballard. It doesn't hurt that he's hot either. He reminds me a lot of Riley for some reason but the interesting versions. Least favourite would probably be Dominic. I wanted to put down Topher but he has his moments.

I agree. Paul is a hunk. I like his character a lot, too. He's actually got morals! I liked him with Mellie. They were sweet. I like how Boyd cares for Echo. He has a watcher-esque feel to him. I don't really dislike any character (well Dominic, but I think we're supposed to dislike him). They've all grown on me.

Yeah, I can't say that there is one character in DH that I dislike a lot. Dominic is just the character I least cared about. Can I just say that I hated that Millie turned out to be a doll! I was rooting for her and Ballard to be together. But after Echo came into the picture, I jumped ship.

Ballard definitely. His progression from beginning to end was great, his character grew so much. Bre how much dollhouse have you seen I don't want to spoil anything for you . I also liked the progression in DeWitt's character. I thought it was obvious that Echo & Ballard would be the main ship because he was completely obsessed with finding Caroline and Joss usually starts his relationships out like that . I don't know why so many people like Topher .

Seeing Ballard with anybody is fine by me. But from the first time I saw Mellie, I knew she was a doll. She seemed very odd in her first scene, if I remember correctly, so I wasn't exactly surprised until she kicked ass. That was cool. Nico, I've just seen season one. Don't worry about spoiling for me. But I can't speak on other members' behalf.

I don't know why so many people like Topher . Topher was ok in season 1. He had some great lines but he annoyed me a lot in season 2. But he did, however, became so awesome in the series finale. I liked DeWitt's growth as a character too. I think it rivals with Ballard's. In season 2, I especially loved the relationship between DeWitt and Topher - especially in the series finale.

Aw you are making me want to watch season 2. I wonder when the DVD comes out. I liked DeWitt in Epitaph One. She seemed very motherly of Topher. I hope it doesn't go beyond that.

Oh no, it doesn't. And that's what I liked about it. There is more of the mother-son relationship in EP2. DeWitt changed so much in EP1 and EP2! I would have never had guessed she would turn out that way in the end with how hard-ass she has been. I haven't heard any word on the DVD for season 2 so I have no idea when it's out.

The season 2 finale was really good. In fact it is the only episode I have kept saved on the DVR and I never save anything on the DVR !.
Bre I think Season 2 shows so much character progression and relationship progression between everyone that it is hard to keep up.

Yup. She plays the female version of Topher in a different Dollhouse (in Washington). She's great in it! Very different from the roles she ususally plays. Her story is great too. Shocking ending I thought! But very Joss.

My favorite is Ballard, too, although Boyd is a close second because of the care he showed for Echo and the progression he made.
I actually liked Topher. He was wonderful in Season 1, I thought, and in Season 2 I felt his character was sidelined by his invention and the role it played in the story arc, so his character was used more as a means to an end to tie up those lose ends, although I did like how he was shown in the series finale. It was very respectful and brought him full circle, back to the "regular" Topher.

I like Topher in part because as a geek I can identify with him. I also love seriously flawed characters and Topher was that. Although come to think of it most of the characters in the show were flawful.

I haven't seen the finale or season 2 yet, but so far my least favourite is Ballard. I don't see how anyone can like him, so I hope he improves drastically in season 2. He is obsessively creepy when it comes to Caroline, which was proved by him using Mellie for sex once he knew she was a doll.
I get that he thinks these Dolls needs rescuing, but he seems focussed on only rescuing Caroline, and not all of the Dolls. Why? He actually knows one of the Dolls, Mellie. I know he gets her released from her contract instead of Caroline, but I honestly have to wonder if this is because he wants to stay around Echo in the Dollhouse. Anyway... I thoroughly dislike his character so far in Season 1 (and I have seen all but the finale)
Favourite so far is Adelle. I love her bitchness.

I never thought Ballard was obsessed with Caroline, I just thought he was obsessed with finding the Dollhouse because it's a f**ked up institution. Caroline was just his one strong link to the Dollhouse.

It wasn't though. It became all about "rescuing Caroline". Surely November/Mellie was a bigger link once he knew about her? Instead he leaves her in her pod, closes it on her, and goes to find Caroline. It was about getting her out of there, he didn't even think to get the rest of the Dolls out.

I think the reason he wanted to find Caroline was because she was probably the only one who knew more about the DH than anyone else. With her rescued, he can use her knowledge of DH to take them down.
That's how I saw it. It was more of him being obsessed with taking down DH.
