June 2010 NewsletterFirst of all I'd like to congratulate our June MotM - Irene! This was given for great contribution to the forum this month. We have had a lot of discussion on the World Cup this month, shame Australia didn't make it further but watch us in 4 years time  Oh right... unbiased newsletter. <cough> Our new Sports Section is going well and will remain a permanent part of the forum. Every week we are still continuing with our Challenges, which anyone in the forum is welcome to participate in. All you need to do is PM me letting me know you want to be involved and I will make sure you get one. Challenges have been a great success so far, with 100 points earned for each completed challenge. Points can be used to purchase various things in our Kax Shop! Every month we are picking a new movie to watch and review. In June it was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. July Newsletter 2010Hi guys, time again for me to spam your email box with the monthly KAX Newsletter. Hopefully this is spam you want to read though! First of all I'd like to congratulate our July MoTM - Mooshi! Welcome back to the forum and this has been given for great contribution around Kax this month. We are still continuing challenges, but we will be having a brief break from them for the first couple of weeks in August. They will be starting up again and anyone is welcome to be involved. If you don't know what they involve, feel free to PM me on Kax or email me and I am happy to explain further! We have just finished discussing Cruel Intentions and are about to move on to our new Movie Club movie which for this month will be Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. You can find that thread here kacks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=mov&action=display&thread=5365 and all are welcome to come and discuss it with us Currently we have threads in Music for Top 100 bands/Artists and Top 100 Songs of all time, where we are compiling a list from members suggestions. Come add yours to the lists before they are completed! We have a similar thread in our Celeb section for our favourite Celebrities. In our TV Section we are playing a Hurt and Heal game with the Top 50 TV Shows that were voted in by our members. This month we started a new Food and Cooking subsection after we realised how popular this topic is on the forum - a massive 34 threads were moved straight into the section which is now thriving. Our Sports section is also continuing to prove to be a great addition to the forum. Voting has just opened up for next months Forum Banner, the voting thread is here kacks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=art&action=display&thread=5000 . We will soon be starting a new banner competition for the following month. Lastly I'd like to wish a big Happy Birthday for next month for Jeanvic Shaun Thewish Irene Warpedminded Clover Kate and my little girl Ella is also turning a big 4! We have had some great new members and some great members come back this month and I hope to see more of you again soon.

August Newsletter 2010Yup, its Newsletter time Welcome and welcome back to all new members and returning members, it is always great to see some new and old faces back around the forum. First off I'd like to congratulation August's MotM - Nina! Great contribution all around the forum this month, well deserved. This month Team Debates have been brought back to Kax. Those of you who were around in the Hogwarts days will remember how they worked. They are completely optional, light hearted debates that anyone is welcome to join in. As a bonus incentive (on top of being able to say you won!) is the points reward. Each debater is awarded points for participation, and even more points for winning the debate. Points can be accumulated either through these debates or through our on going weekly challenges. To participate in weekly challenges all you need to do is shoot me a private message on the forum letting me know. You can do them whenever you want and there is no pressure to have to do one every week. You can buy various things with these points, the entire KAX Shop can be found here - kacks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=suggest&action=display&thread=4634 The Shop is still open for suggestions to what it sells, any ideas are welcomed! Something you would want to buy that isn't on the list, let me know and it will most likely be added. We are just finishing off discussing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and are moving on to September's Movie Club of the Month which is Pulp Fiction. September Newsletter 2010September has been a fairly busy month, an exciting one for the Aussies with the AFL finals on. Unfortunately just like our election, the Grand Final ended in a draw. Replay is this Saturday so lets hope the Saints manage to thump those Magpies! Kax is going Halloween next month, with our Movie Club discussion being on Scream, the thread can be found here kacks.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=mov&thread=5659 Voting has also started on our Halloween banner, you can come and cast your vote in the Fan Art section. Upcoming in October also are the Commonwealth Games so we look forward to a lot of discussion on the events happening there (if they ever get under way!). Our staff expect loads of medals for the Australians and for Scotland to win a few too. We have a new Rankings system on Kax now, the first change since the forum began way back in April 2005. Check the FAQ for the new ranks. I have also been slowly going through old Chatters threads and making some Classic Quotes threads in the General Chat section, quite a few old memories stirred up in those Our Hurt and Heal is moving slowly in the TV Section, have a look to vote for your favourite TV Shows and kick out your least favourites. Unfortunately this month we were unable to choose a MOTM, but hopefully next month we will have a new winner. October Newsletter, 2010Hi guys, a little late with this Newsletter sorry! Things have been busy lately, for everyone it seems which has been reflected in a reasonably quiet month on Kax. The last week has picked up and it would be great to see some of our older members return to pick things up even more! As such, there is no Member of the Month. Everyone is a chance for MOTM, all you need to do is log on and be active! We had an amusing Halloween challenge this month which resulted in a much loved short Halloween story written by Shred, starring our regular members. After discussing Scream this month we move on to a new Movie this month, The Matrix. Hi Guys I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and are excited about Christmas coming up soon. Kax is going Christmas-themed of course and I look forward to hearing about what everyone is up to over the holidays and what everyone is hoping to be brought by Santa this year! We have a MOTM this month and I am pleased to hand it out to Bec. Being a busy mum hasn't stopped some great overall contribution to the forum, not only this month but in general too. We didn't get much discussion on The Matrix this month with people being busy busy so the thread will remain stickied and open for awhile. As well as that we have our new Movie of the Month which is Catch Me if You Can. Everyone is welcome to PM me questions on Kax directed at any forum member. Mdway through the month I PM one member with some of the questions asked and will add them to the coming Newsletter. It is a good way of getting to know each other better, and keeping those members who may have been absent for a bit up to date with us. This month Liz answered a few questions for us. KAX:What most excites you about moving to London and what do you think you'll have the hardest time adjusting to? LIZ: I can't wait to visit all the museums and art galleries! I'm really looking forward to being able to hop on a train and visit another country. Also shopping LIZ: It'll be hard adjusting to a new country, living out of home, and starting a new job. I would say that living out of home would be the hardest thing. KAX: If you could trade places with a person for one day who would it be? And what would you do? LIZ: I would trade places with Bre. I would go to college, because I have a fascination with American universities! KAX: What is your best memory of Kax and how has the forum changed over the years in your opinion? LIZ: I really enjoyed the HP stuff we used to use. I think that KAX has become smaller, and some of the older posters aren't as active/are inactive (*cough* Tash, Amber, Allen, Kate, Glenn, Lexie *cough*) Take that as a hint guys - we miss you! January 2011 NewsletterHi guys, I hope your year has been off to a great start and that you Australians had a great Australia Day celebration yesterday. Kax has a new Book Club, we will be going through a list of classics and leaving the discussion threads open for anyone to join in whenever they get the time to read one or find one they have been after for awhile. Challenges will be starting up again next month, they have been on hold over the busier months due to holidays. February 2011Sorry this newsletter is a little late guys, hectic time of the year with school back on and people being sick etc! I hope everyone has settled into the new school year well (or second half of the school year for the non Australians) and that the work load isn't too rough. February's Member of the Month is Liz, congratulations on great contribution this month and good luck with the upcoming move to England - exciting times for you! The new Movie of the Month is Little Miss Sunshine, the thread has been open for awhile now but we've all been a little slack in seeing it (myself included.... oops) so it will continue for this month and hopefully get some decent discussion. The Oscars were just on so there has of course been some discussion on who wore what... oh and who won what too Our banner this month featuring a lot of our favourite musicians was made by Irene. We are still having our monthly banner competition which anyone is more than welcome to enter. March 2011Hi guys, hope you have had a great month. It occurs to me as i write this that I think for the past few newsletters I've continued to put 2010 instead of 2011, oops  Still stuck back in last year and no wonder with how fast the year is going! Almost April and Easter already. Hopefully everyone has some great plans for Easter (or look forward to a lack of plans). Kax has been a bit quiet again so it would be great to see some older members return and liven things up a bit even if it is just for a quick catch up As such we have no Member of the Month for March. Everyone on the forum is eligible for this, new or old, for great contribution to the forum We are still going through our 30 Day Challenge in GC which has been interesting, learning new things about everyone. April 2011Hi guys, I hope you all had a great Easter and it wasn't too hard to get back to the normal routine! Kax had its 6th birthday this month, hard to believe we have been around for that long but it is a great achievement. Don't forget we are having a party get together on the forum to celebrate this Friday (Saturday am if you are in Australia/NZ) - check the times in the main header Nico also made us a great wallpaper of some of our regulars that can be found in the FanArt section. We had a different kind of challenge this month with members interviewing other members. This proved to be a great success and those interviews can still be viewed in our Blogs section. May brings Mothers Day, so I hope it is a good one for all our mothers and that the kids spoil you! Our 30 Day Challenge has now finished but there are still the Music and Movie ones ongoing for anyone to participate in. Our Movie Club at the moment is Speed. Mr Gordo, our travelling pig, has made his way through most of our members so far - anyone is welcome to join in his travels! He has been to various places in Australia, NZ, Canada and the US so far. Oh haven't I been slack... October Newsletter 2011Hi guys, time for a long overdue newsletter. It is Halloween in a few days so there has been a bit of discussion about plans and costumes, sounds like we are going to have a few interesting costumes and hopefully some pictures to come after the weekend! Hopefully you all score a decent amount of candy (no people candy is not just for kids!) Christmas is also creepy up on us slowly, I know it seems like a long way off but it will be here before we know it. Within the next week a new Christmas Banner Competition will be started, I look forward to seeing some great entries - everyone is welcome to enter! There have been a lot of new TV shows over the last month so that section of the forum has been extremely active with chat about them. In that section there has also been a "Greatest TV Moments" thread started. This is a busy time of year for everyone, but for those of you we haven't seen in awhile - come back, we miss you! January 2012 NewsletterHi guys! Hope everyone had a great Christmas and end to 2011. It is always a busy time for people with holidays and rushing around getting organised for Christmas and the New Year. I hope Santa was good to you all, he seemed to skip over me and focus all his attention on my kids, hmm. It has been a slow start to the year on Kax, I've been away on holidays and many of you are back to school and off on holidays yourselves.
