Have you ever had or given anyone food poisoning? I've never had it, and never done it!

nope, and nope I'm fussy about my cooking - if it's not cooked properly I won't eat it, especially meat! If it's pink I won't touch it!

Erm...I don't think I've had food poisoning. And I know I've never given anyone food poisoning as I don't cook. ;D

I got it the day after i finished my first degree. A bit group of us went out and i had a chicken pasta dish. I thought it tasted weird but i thought it was the amount of alcohol i had drank and just ate it. BIG MISTAKE. I wanted to die. My housemates were threatening to tie me up and take me to hospital after two days of it. I've never given it to anyone. I'm an obsessive cook. Have all different chopping boards, knives, towels etc. And if i think ingredients are even slightly suss i chuck them. My poor mum had food poisoning on a flight from France. Worst 23 hours of her life by far she says

I think chicken is often the culprit And rice.

My cousin got food poisoning on a flight to thailand. had an awful time on the plane and it ruined most of his holiday! if not stored and cooked properly, chicken gets Listeria bacteria. its on my "what to avoid eating when pregnant" list from the hospital.

I have twice, but not for ages. The first time was when I was about 16, and got some from chicken, which wasn't fun. The second time was probably about eight years ago, where it came from popcorn at the cinema.
Neither time was fun.

How does popcorn give you food poisoning?

I guess people not washing their hands, then handling it? Off butter maybe?

Yeah, I was thinking that it would mostly likely be the butter.

Possibly the butter or the fact that it had possibly been sitting around for days. My friend and I both had the poisoning, and the popcorn was the only thing we both had.

Sitting around for day? That's so disgusting. I've had friends who worked at movie cinemas and they've always thrown it out at the end of the night/taken it home.

Ugh, I've had it before and its so unpleasant. I'm not exactly sure what I had but I know it was from not so good cooked chicken.

I've never had food poisoning, I count myself lucky. I did have a friend who gave himself food poisoning with bad fish

For those who had food poisoning before, do you avoid the food that gave you food poisoning now? Are you extra careful when eating that particular food?

I haven't eaten at Oporto since - I'm scared it'll happen again!

Thankfully, I've never had it, or given it to anyone Another reason I'm glad I don't cook! There's been a few times where I felt icky after eating various things, but nothing that made me horribly sick. And I haven't had any incidents recently, so I'll keep knocking on wood!

James has given me food poisoning more than once. I've also had it from a Thai restaurant. I don't believe I have ever made anyone sick from my cooking. It has been tempting to poison some people on occasion
