When you make a salad what do you put in it? What dressing do you use or do you make your own?

During summer I make a lot of simple salad - lettuce, grated cheese, tomato, cucumber, carrot, tin corn, mayo. If I take salad to a bbq I make either pasta salad, potato salad or cesar salad which I really don't like sharing lol.

My salads are either: lettuce, ranch dressing, cut up chicken nuggets, croutons, grated cheese, carrots, and cucumbers. Or...
lettuce, catalina/french dressing, croutons, grated cheese, carrots, and cucumbers. I love any kind of salad though. Those are just the easiest to make at home.

Gee some of those sound good Loz I know this sounds boring but I love plain lettuce with a corn oil and apple cider vinegar dressing. I could eat so much of it at my Aunties house. Also there's a cafe here that makes an awesome cold raw vegetable salad but I can't find a recipe anywhere.

Yuck at balsamic vinegar. I tried it plain once because I put it in an Italian pasta dish, and it was one of the nastiest things I've ever tasted.

I am not a big vegetable fan so my salads are pretty simple, (basics like lettuce, carrots, cucumber and croutons etc) I love the ones I do make but I need to find some more salad recipes with a bit more flavour and some more dressings!.
I have never eaten a salad with noodles in it, will it work with only the basic veg to? because I would like to add some texture and flavour!.

What! I looooove vegies. You crazy! I only like a few vegetables - cucumbers and lettuce. That's about it really. Can't really stand the rest. Though I don't mind cauliflower when it's smothered with cheese. But I do like coleslaw.

You hate potatoes? Vegetables can taste very different depending on how they are cooked, same with salads (not the cooked part, but how they are done). Bernie makes a very nice salad dressing that I just have over lettuce when we have them. But I'll throw in some tomatoes, cheese and occasionally cucumber too. My brother Heath makes a nice potato salad (amazing I know, but he can make some things ) with egg, potatoes, bacon, and the mayonaisey sauce.

My grandmother makes a good potato salad.
I had the hugest salad from the Cheesecake Factory - it was supposed to be a side salad but it took up half the table!
Ahh, this thread has made me crave Vietnamese salad....damn it!

The Vietnamese salad? The ones I like have vermicelli noodles, shredded lettuce, carrot, cucumber, peanuts, bean sprouts, little bit of mint, light chilli dressing. My favourite is one with chicken, but I've also had it with prawn, beef, spring rolls...it's really yummy.
