Maybe try teriyaki chicken, or even Californian roll, as an intro? I also really like tamago (Japanese egg omelette)

CNN made a list of 40 foods that Singaporeans can't live without.

My favourties are 1, 2, 4, 5, 9, 14 and 31. I make sure I have all of those whenever I go back. ;D

Do you guys have any of the Singaporean dishes over there? I hardly see any here.

No, not really - only 'Singapore noodles' at Chinese restaurants. We have a lot of Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese restaurants though. I've heard good things about Little Singapore - I might go check it out and see if they have any of those dishes on the menu!

Yeah, we have Singapore noodles here but there's no such thing in Singapore!

I don't think we have anything strictly Singaporean here. There's a lot of Indian, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Thai. There's a couple of Indonesian places and the Rendang that I make is yummy but very different to what the restaurant makes.
I have a big recipe book of Asian food but it looks so complicated, so I haven't tried to make anything yet.

Spring rolls can be great or bad I have found, depending on what is in them and where you get them from.
