What are you favourite and least favourite types of asian dishes? Do you have them often? What is one type of Asian food you tend to avoid? Or one type you'd like to try but never had a chance? Are you good at cooking asian dishes? What have you cooked so far? Yes, many questions. Now answer them!

I like some asian food but I don't eat it a lot. I love a good friend rice but most other food can be very hit or miss. Spring Rolls for instance can be great from one place and terrible at another. I used to really love Sweet and Sour Pork but I am not a fan anymore, the meat tends to be too chewy. Quite like a Crispy Chicken strips, and some of the noodle dishes.
I keep meaning to try Sushi but still haven't.

Oh my gosh, I love asian food!! Love sushi, love pho. One of my close friends is Viet, and her mum has a restaurant with the best food. We have stir frys a lot at home, which I suppose are "Asian" I had Thai last night, it was delicious. Pad Thai is my favourite - pity it's so high in fat. Least favourite Asian food is probably laksa (I find it too hot) and Korean (although I do like Korean BBQ).

Argh the Asian food here sucks! And they are cooked by Asians so I don't know why they can't get it right. Most of the Kiwis here probably don't know the difference though. I hardly get any Asian food here. My aunt cooks Indian dishes most times so I'm not losing out. There are only a couple of places in Palmy where they sell good Asian food - but compared with food from S'pore, it's still not good enough.

Do you count Indian food under Asian Food? I must say I never have because it is so different But I suppose technically it does fall under that!

Isn't it? India is part of Asia.

I know that, but I have never considered it "Asian Food". Like I said in my last point, of course technically it is. But it is vastly different to most Asian cuisine imo.

Huh. I never looked at it that way. I consider Asian food Asian because it comes from Asia.

Well for me it is like I don't consider "German Food" in the same category as "Italian Food" or "French Food" because they are all so very different even though they are all "European Food". Whereas a lot of Asian food can be pretty similar style even if the tastes are different.

Indian is one of my favourite cuisines. My favourite restaurant here is Fijian Indian food. Other favourite is Japanese. Really need to have a crack at making some rolls or something myself one of these days. Chinese I find hit or miss, if it's good it's awesome, if it's bad it's atrocious! Same with Thai.

Neither, I know India is a part of Asia, but I think of it more like the Indian sub-continent - with Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka etc. Agreed about Chinese food, Loz - sometimes it can be way too greasy.

A lot of Asian food can be very hit or miss I find, though Chinese does seem to vary the most.

Asian food doesn't sit well with my Uncle. He can eat it once in awhile but not everyday. When he came down to S'pore last year, all he had was Asian food and it was not good for his stomach. I can understand why. The spices we use and the way we cook the food is very different from Kiwi dishes.

I'm sure most of the Chinese in my area isn't very authentic, although I think every one of the restaurants is run by Asians, but I do enjoy it. It is hit and miss, though, as others have mentioned, so I tend to stick to a few tried and true restaurants. I've never tried Japanese food. I find the concept of sushi very disgusting, and the only Japanese restaurant we have here is a sushi bar. We have a Thai restaurant or two in the area, but I've never been. And if we're counting Indian (although I seem to be with the majority in that I consider their cuisine to be quite different from what is commonly referred to as "Asian food" in the US) I will only eat chicken tikka masala. I've never tried cooking Asian. It seems difficult.
