What songs did your parents listen to when they were younger? Did they pass the love of those bands along to you? Do your parents still like that music now and is your taste similar to theirs?
I grew up listening to Queen, Elton John, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Alice Cooper, John Farnham etc - a fairly broad mix. I love Creedence, Alice Cooper and Queen though I am not a fan of Elton John (mostly). John Farnham i love some songs though not all.
Mum listens to a lot of new music as well as a lot of older music. She loves some old bands and will go to their concerts (The Who, AC/DC, Alice Cooper) but she also loves some new music and buys those albums (Lady Gaga, Shakira).
Dad on the other hand prefers classical music and opera. He has literally thousands upon thousands of CDs. They cover walls. He surprises me sometimes by liking bands I like, I remember him copying my Throwing Copper by LIVE album quite a few years ago and he still likes them.

My uncle listens to a lot of the oldie music. His favourites are Queen and Foster & Allan. I don't mind Queen but can't stand Foster & Allan. My grandmother listen to a few oldies when I was a kid. ABBA and The Carpenters are the only ones I remember listening to when growing up as I liked them. I started listening to quite a bit of Johnny Cash after watching Walk the Line and I think he and Queen would be my favourite Oldie music.

My parents listened to a lot of classic rock, mostly. The Beatles were on a lot. As was Pink Floyd since my dad is obsessed. However, my mom totally overplayed Hootie and the Blowfish and I blame her for my hate of them. When they were younger, my mom listened to a lot of hair metal and my dad listened to a lot of 60s/70s rock. Probably where my love for those decades comes from.

I love Aerosmith! I like a lot of hair metal. I just don't like bands that are all for the glam though.

No. I love David Bowie. I think he's extremely talented. Sure he's glam, but he's a music genius, too!

Boy George? No. Well I only know his one song, so I can't say for sure.
