So Bernie and I watched the first one for the first time last night. I didn't realise it was going to be so long. Still not sure what I think about it. It was enjoyable enough though there kept being all these "mini stories" once one would wrap up another started I liked Michael's development and I found it enjoyable enough but I wasn't a huge fan of Marlon Brando in it as I found him hard to understand. So what is it that is so loved about this movie?

To me, it's beautifully made. It's more than just watching a movie, but art. I'm sure that sounds ridiculous and stupid and it is. But some movies I could just watch just for the aesthetics. I love the acting probably more than the story itself, but part II is my favorite. I love the flashbacks of Vito's life (young Vito played by the best actor ever, Robert De Niro) and one scene with Michael and Fredo which I won't specify since you haven't seen it. It's one of those movies that whenever it's on TV, I have to watch it. So something about it draws me in.
