I recently bought a Kindle and absolutely love it. I love being able to carry hundreds of books with me. Before I got my Kindle I used the iBooks app on my iPhone, but the size of the screen/backlit wasn't great for reading for extended periods of time. Kindle isn't the only reader - there's also Kobo (Borders), Sony reader, and Nook (Barnes and Noble) (those are probably the biggest ones). Is anyone else interested in eBooks and eBook readers?

Meh, not really. I don't like the idea of reading a book from an electronic device.
Doesn't it hurt your eyes?

I think they are a great idea, especially for long trips. But I don't think I'd use one. I like to be reading a book, I have a hard enough time reading stories off the computer. Bernie uses his phone, it has an application to download books from amazon.

I'd much rather read a bound book. I hate reading things from any kind of screen, and there's just that feeling you get when you're holding the book in your hands.

I'm a book person all the way. I can't stand reading off a screen, especially since I write in my books like crazy, making notes and what not. Plus you can't beat the smell of a brand new book (or an antique book!).

I think I am half and half. If I bought all the books I wanted to buy then I would have no room to store them all. I have been contemplating getting an eReader because that way I can read in bed and not have to have the light on which keeps John up. Either way I will be getting an eReader or an iPad and reading books of there, just gotta make up my mind what I am getting.

I hate it when people fold the edges of the pages over, even my text books if I needed to make notes I'd stick a post it on it instead of writing in it. Why would you ruin your books?

Because they're just books. I don't know, when I see something I like or don't like, I underline or write something next to it. I can understand why people don't like to do that, but it's just something I've always done. You would hate my textbooks. I underline and highlight the shit out of them. I purchase them so nobody else will ever read them though. I wouldn't do it in a rented book.

Because the Kindle used magnetic ink (or some such) it feel different than reading off a screen. I like it. I'm a book person all the way. Why would you ruin your books? I confess to turning my pages down, but I don't write in my books. I HATE it when I get library books out and people have underlined stuff.

I fold the pages over but only on my own books, I wouldn't do it to someone else's or a library book. I've never written in a book, I can understand doing it in a school or reference book but I don't understand doing it in a fiction book. Like Liz, I get annoyed if I see someone has written in a book.

I don't ever fold pages and no way in hell do i write in a book, be it mine, the libraries or anyone elses. I use post its and flags. Have always. I didn't even write in my uni "Bricks". And they are photocopied pages from books bound together!
And i have no interest in a Kindle etc. I don't like reading from a screen. At all. Of any kind.

Bernie is getting me a kindle for Christmas. We came to the agreement that I have too many books and since I refuse to get rid of any the solution is to ensure I don't buy any more

Cheaper Kindle, sorry. Don't bother with the wi-fi one. I just have the Amazon leather cover - in hot pink. So cute.
