"Playing Hero" Episode 2 :- Trouble Breeds Trouble
Synopsis: While Kevin tries to get used to Groo being there, a demon comes to the apartment looking for revenge.

In Kate’s apartment, at night, Kate and Kevin are sat on the couch talking, the Groosalugg is sat at the other end of the room at the dining table
(In hushed voices)
Kevin: I don’t trust him Kate
Kate: (Sighs) Not again.
Kevin: He doesn’t understand things. He isn’t normal
They both look over at the table where the Groosulugg is mixing tuna and ice cream into one bowl and begins eating
Kate has a mildly grossed out look on her face but you can see that she finds it amusing
Kate: (Still looking at Groo) He saved my life Kevin (Looks back at Kevin) and yours. What do you expect me to do, throw him out?
Kevin: Yes!!
Kate: (Staring hard at him) Don’t forget Kevin you are a guest in my house as well. If I think he should stay…he stays.
Its Kevin’s turn to sigh
Kevin: I know we still don’t know each other well, not as much as I hope we will one day at least, but I’m still your brother and I want to keep you safe.
Kate laughs, a little too loudly and Groo looks up, she smiles at him and he smiles back
Kate: Ever since I joined the force my life has been on the line. And I’ve been dealing with the supernatural for a long time
Kevin: Yeah I know that, but how many times has a demon actually come looking specifically for you?
Kate’s smile and look of amusement drops as she ponders the question
Kevin: I thought so, that demon went to a lot of trouble to get to you. You told me he knew things about me. Who knows what lengths they would go to get to you. Infiltrate your base of operations maybe
Kate: This is my apartment Kevin not the white house
Kevin: You know what I mean
They both look over at Groo again who seems to be amusing himself with a beer mat
Kate: He helped kill the demon that was after me
Kevin: Yeah and look how you have welcomed him in
It may have been the cop side of Kate’s brain that was taking in hr brothers words, she knew what he was saying was possibly true. She looks up at Groo again but this time there is no trace of a smile.

Act 1
Its morning an Kate is walking from her bedroom to the living room, she passes another room which she knows to be occupied by Kevin. The guys have been alternating sleeping on the couch though Kate has to force Groo to take the bedroom on his turn. She hears a noise from the living room and peers in. The Groosulugg is in there topless practicing sword strokes and defensive movements. Though her talk with her brother is still fresh in her mind she cant help but watch and even b mildly attracted to him. She is broken out of her trance by a loud crack as one of Groo’s over exuberant strokes chops the table in half.
Groo: Oh
As Groo puts his sword down to inspect the damage Kate makes her prescence known.
Kate: Morning
Groo spins around looking flustered
Groo: Oh Miss Kate erm terrible thing happened….during the night…..an attack….blaargan beast…..wrestled…..i bested it.......through cunning and guile and…with the use of your table
Kate: Sounds like a party, you should have come and got me
Groo: Oh no Miss Kate Blaargan’s are highly amorous
Kate snorts with laughter then stops herself remembering Kevin’s words the night before
The Groosulugg still looks embarrassed about the table incident but they are both spared by the arrival of \Kevin
Kevin: Morning Ka……..(he looks at the table) What the hell
Kate: Amorous Blaargan beast
Kevin: (Looking confused) It mated with the table….(Looks again at the fact the table is split in two and winces) Well rather the table than me is all I can say
Groo: Good morning to you Kevin
Kevin: Yeah
Kate looks at him sternly
Kevin: I mean, morning Groosulugg
Groo: Please, you can call me Groo
Kevin: Sure…what kind of weird ass name is that anyway?
Kate (Shocked) Kevin
Groo: It was giving to me by the High Priestsof my Dimension
Kevin: Hold on a second….your Dimension…what?
Groo: My home Dimension, Pylea
Kate is also looking intrigued by this news
Kate: I had no idea there were other Dimensions
Groo: There are many Miss Kate
Kevin: So you were the flunky of these Priests
Groo: I was there Dimensional Champion
Kevin looks annoyed that he cant seem to break Groo’s constant upbeat attitude
Kevin: Your name suggests more of a dung cleaning post to me
Groo: Ah no, the flehenma stables were mucked out by your kind.
Kevin looks highly embarrassed and Kate gives a wry smile
Kate: So why’d you leave Groo being Dimensional Champion and all
Groo: It is a long tale
Kate: Cliff notes version
Groo looks confused
Kate: Short version
Groo: Ah well, I became betrothed to the Princess of Pylea and was tasked with performing a mating ritual with her
Kevin: Some guys get all the luck
Groo continues without pause
Groo: We however discovered that the Priests were not who once thought. The Princess being so noble and mighty stood up to them and with the help of her friends broke the Priests grasp on the land and seated me on the throne.
Kevin: What about this Princess
Groo for the first time looks deeply sad
Groo: She could not stay; she had her own Champion to help her in LA
Kate’s expression changes at the sound of her old city
Kate: This Princesses Champion, he wouldn’t happen to look a lot like you….only slightly smaller
Groo: Yes, Angel the mighty Drachen killer
Kate lets out a laugh
Kate: Angel…
Kevin: You know this Angel?
Kate: Yeah he saved my life….a few times
Groo: (In a very forced voice) He is a great man
Kate: Well not a man as such
Kevin looks at her
Kate: Vampire
Kevin: Oh man, demons, Dimensions, fler flachans or whatever he said and now vampires!!!!
Kate: He has a soul
Kevin: SO!!!
Kate: SO….oh I cant be bothered going through. You can trust him, that’s all you need to know
Kevin: So vampires are good?
Kate: Only him as far as I know, but the important thing is Groo knew him and was his friend
Groo shifts awkwardly
Kate: That makes him a friend in my book
Kevin: Hold on,if he is so good, why did he leave this Ikea – he was king after all
Groo: Well the Pyleans were not happy that human slavery was abolished; a little dancing demon named Numfar of the DeathWok Clan spurred on by his spitting mother led a revolt and cast me aside. I fled the castle and the Dimension.
Kate: Cast out from the place you love, I can relate
Groo: I sought my Princess but her feelings were reserved for another. I stayed in this Dimension to help the helpless, wherever I can
Kate looks sad
Kate: Sometimes I wonder, whether I am doing enough to help. Since I was fired from the force in LA I haven’t really tried hard enough to help people from the things that hunt them.
Groo: You were taking on a group of Vampires when I came to your aide
Kate: I didn’t know they were vamps, I guess when I saw them I just……
Kevin puts his hand on her shoulder, he has clearly been filled in on how their father was killed
Kevin: Well Groosulugg, I guess I am happy to have a Champion watching over my sister
Kevin gets up and walks to the door, he opens it and collects the newspaper that has been left there. As he does this a fist makes contact with Kevins face, he flies back and lands, hurt but not unconscious.
A Demon is stood in the doorway
Demon: YOU…..IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU AND NOW I WILL KILL YOU…….
Kevin: I knew it, I knew he was working with them
Demon: GROOSALUGG
