Apparently casting for Finnick for Catching Fire has been narrowed down to Taylor Kitsch, Armie Hammer and Garrett Hedlund.
But Kitsch has come out and said no, he's not involved.
Why, Taylor, why?!

Because its not a full on lead part and he's now a lead

He's a lead in movies that bombed! Finnick is a important character in the next one. Might be good for him to be in a movie that will do well.

Would hardly call Battleship, a near $300 million dollar grossing film, a bomb. It under performed yes, but it will make more on BRD and DVD in September. It was released at an incredibly stupid time while Avengers was going gangbusters and it never stood a chance (it wasn't the critics because things like Transformers are blasted and still do well). Taylor hasn't copped any of the blame for it under performing, nor should he. It would be a backward step for him so it makes complete sense he doesn't want to do it.

Same!
I'm hoping for a lot of special features to it, especially commentary by the cast.

Bought the DVD today and watched it. No commentary! Not on the DVD edition anyway. But I did a quick comparison with the BR one and the special features were pretty much the same - unless I missed it. Anyway, I was watching the movie again and I realised that Cato reminds me so much of Joffrey! EDIT: Oh and the Prince from Snow White has been cast as Finnick.

I watched this! Thought it was cool. I didn't read the book, but the story is a very interesting concept. Good acting, too, for the most part. Will be watching the others for sure.

Interesting. I liked Game Change, but it was more for the performances than the story and writing. But in saying that it's always good to see "Jonathan" winning Emmy's and doing well.

I was a little afraid the tone of the movie will change due to the change in directors but it looks like it isn't so that's good. I'm disappointed that there's no arena footage in the trailer though!

What do you think about them splitting book 3 into two movies?
If they wanted to split a book into 2 movies, book 2 would have been a better choice in my opinion.

Saw Catching Fire yesterday. Very impressed all round. I just think Jennifer Lawrence is the best thing so I can't even try to be unbiased when it comes to her, but yeah, she is bloody awesome. All the cast are outstanding really. Not a poor one. What Lenny Kravitz does with so little is really something special.
It's longish but the time flies by so it feels very well paced. The effects are very much improved, as is the cinematography. Everything has really stepped up a notch.
Really looking forward to Mockingjay. Even though I still don't think there is a need for two parts. Guess I'll just trust it for now. This is an impressive series IMO. The translation from page to screen is top notch.
Oh, the trailer for Divergent looks pretty wicked.

Throughout the movie, I couldn't get over how white Caesar's teeth were. Still think this movie should have split into two instead of the next one.

Forgot to say I eventually saw this. I liked it a lot - it's a great film. Think I prefer The Hunger Games more, though.

I'm wondering where the first movie will end. The bulk of the action happens in the second half when then are attacking the capital and releasing the pods. Will they end movie one after Peeta attacks Katniss? I assume they will actually SHOW Peeta's rescue to fill some time since the book didn't since it was katniss' POV .
