Thought this deserved its own thread. I don't know how I feel about this. They should have cut a couple of the fight scenes. The movie just got too punchy! HC as Superman was satisfactory so I approve ( ) but I don't get AA as Lois Lane. Maybe it's because they didn't really focus much time on her so we don't exactly know her, you know. Didn't feel the chemistry between HC and LL so their scenes felt off and thus, them falling for each other came out of nowhere and felt a little forced. There were a lot of cheesy scenes that should have been left at the cutting room floor and there were too many symbolism shots that after awhile, I kinda rolled my eyes at. The whole General Zod thing was ok but after awhile it became too much of an alien movie. Got reminded of Independence Day a few times. Major spoilers: Hate, hate, HATE that Lois knows who Clark Kent is! That kinda ruined the movie for me. Though it would be interesting to see how the sequel plays out. Nice nod to Lex Luthor. There were rumours that that was going to be Batman/Bruce Wayne sightings and I THINK I saw a couple. I maybe be wrong - maybe my brain was seeing things. NO JIMMY OSLEN!!! WHAAA?!?!?!

Way too long fight scenes, I found my attention wandering at times. I liked the Clark flashbacks and that they fleshed him out a lot more. Liked that Lois wasn't an idiot and worked out who Superman is. Hated that the movie had ZERO humor. Took itself way too seriously for a superhero movie for me. Surprisingly loved Russell Crowe as Jor-El.

Was there a special screening on?? I don't know how keen I am for this anymore. I liked the trailers and Henry is pretty, but yeah, I don't know now

Hated that the movie had ZERO humor. Agreed! I mean, even the Batman trilogy had humour and it's probably the darkest superhero movie out there! Oh me too. I was pleasantly surprise at how good he was at Jor-El. Really enjoyed his performance. Was I the only one waiting for Zod to scream "THIS IS KRYPTON!" (you know, like "THIS IS SPARTA!") during the movie?

Disclaimer: My migraine was kicking off so I wasn't in the best health to be in a cinema, but I really did not like this movie. If it weren't for actors I really like (Russ, Kevin), actors I like (Amy, Dianne, Michael) and an actor I find exceptionally hot (Henry obviously) I would have flat out hated it. Disjointed story, randomly boring and poorly paced in parts, strange cuts and set ups in direction and editing, main characters you struggled to connect with, a focus on nobodies in crucial moments (why exactly were we supposed to care about an intern we had seen for two minutes when she was stuck in rubble?), general all round WTF is going on in fights.... It was a mess IMO.
I'll try again when I don't have a pounding head and aren't constantly trying to not throw up, but yeah, not impressed. At all.

One of the major issues I had with the movie is that this whole fight in going on and pretty much FLATTEN the entire city but Superman doesn't care about the causalities! But he has a mini breakdown when he kills Zod.

We watched this recently. I LOVE Superman and was left a bit meh after this. --I didn't mind the fight scenes but they were long and started to get tedious. --AA as Lois Lane nonononono and I really really like her. She just wasn't lois to me. --There was a crapload of CGI and I thought that they did a good job with some of the cinematics (like Superman floating towards Zod) --Not enough Humour --Agree with Loz, the intern thing was weird. Who was she? who cares? --The city was flattened, entirely. The took out IHOP for goodness sake! Superman is supposed to be a superhero. --I am on the fence about Lois knowing his identity. I thought Superman was hot and I could ignore all the rest just to watch him .

An okay movie with glimpses of brilliance. The scene where he's a kid and developing his super hearing and X-Ray Vision were one of the best parts of the movie.
