Who I want to win: I think Sally and Margot are both exceptional in very difficult, very different roles. I am not unhappy about Frances though, she is fabulous in Three Billboards...

Will win: Allison Janney has pretty much won them all. She is pure evil in I, Tonya. Great performance. Its between her and Metcalf.

Who I want to win: My CJ of course. Janney plays my favourite female character of all time and I her.

Will win: I think they will go with GDT. Not undeserved.

Who I want to win: I actually think what Nolan did with Dunkirk was flat out amazing.

Will win: For the first time in awhile, i'm just not sure. I think Three Billboards has the momentum but there is a bit of a backlash going on. The Shape of Water has the most nominations, but that didn't work help La La Land! Get Out could sneak in..... People are talking about Lady Bird being the bolter (not for me, didn't love it). In a pinch i'll say Three Billboards, but i wouldn't put money on it.

Who I want to win: I have seen all but Phantom Thread (I just have no desire to watch it and can't bring myself to) and I enjoyed Dunkirk and The Shape of Water the most.

Don't really care who wins as I don't have a favourite. Oldman will win for sure. He has no competition really except for maybe Daniel Day-Lewis. He might win it 'cause isn't he retired and this is his last film?

It's either Ronan or Hawkins for me really but it would be such a nice surprise if Ronan wins. I haven't seen Billboards or I, Tonya yet (might do so over the weekend) but I'm pretty sure McDormand will walk away with it. This is a much tougher category than the male's.

I really really REALLY want Nolan to win it. Dunkirk was such an amazing film and I think him and this movie should be getting more awards and attention during the awards seasons. If it was released later, it might pose a big threat to TSoW for Best Director and Best Film. But because of TSHoW hogging the headlines, Dunkirk is pretty much forgotten - which is a shame.

Dunkirk over TSoW anyday! I don't mind Lady Bird winning (even though I'm not a fan of the movie, I like to see the underdog take it) but it seems like a stretch. I'll be happy if Billboards or TSoW DOESN'T WIN.

I only had it on in the background at work (and I was busy as) so I will watch it again tonight, but a few observations:

* Allison Janney is a legend plain and simple. The start of her speech was perfect. She looked perfect too. Many years of TWW teaches you the lady can wear a dress, but damn. Smoking hot.

* Francis' speech was good. Like that she got all the women up like that.

* JK is a good host. No missteps. Got a few Damon digs in as usual Liked the jet ski joke.

* Always happy when an Aussie wins. Dunkirk was brilliantly edited.

* This is Me should have won. I mean, come the f**k on!

* Icarus deserved that. Great doco that I randomly stumbled on one day and thought was brilliant.

* Jodie Foster = funny. Who knew!

* The 90th Anniversary packages were fabulous. REALLY enjoyed the dreamers one backed by the theme from Love Actually.

* Eddie = fabulous. I don't think they missed anyone for once!!

* I am glad that TSoW got up. I think its a great film.

Will be back later with Best Dressed. Goddess Nicole top of the list of course

Haven't seen it either - just clips on YT. Was there a ding at Damon? There was no mention of it online so I thought Kimmel didn't do anything with him.

Nice opening monologue - a good balance of humour and putting out the various messages front and center. Though I always think hosts can easily talk/joke about the sexual harassment thing without mentioning HW's name. I feel people are still touchy on hearing his name and most of the jokes with his name in it always fall flat.

Winners were predictable - which was boring. But I think the speeches made a predictable night pretty entertaining.

Also, with all the talk of gender equality, why hasn't anyone mention more females hosting award shows? Especially the Oscars?

Speaking of, was Ellen the last female to host it? Can someone book Tiffany Haddish (though she does over do it sometimes) and Maya Rudolph for next year? Kthanksbye.


EDIT: As for the outfits, from what little I saw on my IG feed, I thought Jennifer Gardner and Jane Fonda was just wow. Chadwick Boseman looked mighty fine for the males.

Kristen Bell did the SAGS and Joanna Lumley did the BAFTAS this season. Not sure about smaller award shows.... . I couldn’t handle Haddish. Way too OTT for me. Maya yes. Put her with Wigg. That would be awesome

Like Jimmy is ever not going to have a go at Damon. I caught one at the end, not sure there were others.

I liked the colour of Garners but not the dress. Fonda is on my best dressed list. I couldn’t get pics to upload last night! Will try again tonight.

You asked why people aren’t mentioning more females hosting award shows first..... hence my reply Ellen was the last female Oscars host.

Loved the bow. Perfect for her tiny frame. Not many people could pull that off.

Interesting year for winners. I really need to watch TMMM clearly.... So happy Claire Foy got it. She really is a queen. Glad Godless won a few too with Merritt (she is brilliant) and my old fave Jeff Daniels. Great miniseries. Did people really not know Matthew Rhys is Welsh??

TMMM is excellent. Nice to see ASP getting so many awards when GG didn't get any (one technical, I think). Although her outfit/top hat was dumb.
