It's disappointing that she's off the covers, though I don't mind Jon Foster's cover. I just hope that the framing of the image is due to his lack of ability to get the characters' faces right. And by the look of the cover, it looks like that may be the new big bad, referred to in the solicitation (which I posted in the season 8 thread for anyone who's interested). And here's the variant.

Why isn't Jo Chen doing the covers?
But that new one looks good still. It is disappointing we can't see her face. He probably is still working on getting her look down.

LOL, I thought that, too. Only smaller, but way creepier. Why isn't Jo Chen doing the covers? But that new one looks good still. It is disappointing we can't see her face. He probably is still working on getting her look down. I don't know why she isn't. Hopefully it means that she's got something else where she'll be doing interior art or something. She's an amazing artist. That said, I quite like this cover too.

I'll be a little sad to not see Chen's covers. They're done amazingly well and just seemed to be getting better and better. Still can't begrudge her doing other projects (and hopefully she'll be back). At least the new artist looks like they've got some talent.
In regards to peoples concerns about Willow flying I'm inclined to say: Willow is an uber-witch with power enough to alter reality. Flying doesn't seem like it would be that tough for her. I've just kind of assumed she could cast a flight spell if she needs it. I don't think Buffy will be using her as her fantasticar but sometimes it's a quicker spell to fly then teleport I would think. I don't think it's something worth getting worked up over.

The standard cover to #12 (Jon Foster really is no Jo Chen, IMO): The variant cover (love the Japanese theme): And while not technically season 8, the cover to Buffy Omnibus volume 4:

The cover works for the style of the image, but it just lacks the spot-on takes that Jo Chen's did. Re the variant, I didn't even click that it was Xander (and Willow) in the background. Suddenly I'm a bigger fan of the image.

I missed Xander and Willow in the variant until Beck pointed it out. I find the cover really funny though.

I think the cover is pretty, but it doesn't look like Buffy at all. I miss Jo Chen.

I agree, Bre. There is the resemblance but not as spot on as Jo Chen. I hope she comes back doing the art soon.

Issue 11 fits in with the Jo Chen stuff, cause there is no direct face, but the 12th cover kinda sucks and maybe the first time I buy the varient over the regular, cause the Kimono Buffy rocks (and I didn't notice it was Xander and Willow either!)

Meh. It fits with issue 12... Its a style that will take time to get use to, cause the colors are really nice, but I just don't like the character drawings... But Willow and Buffy in the background look neat.

That is sooo not Xander. What's the title for issue #13 btw? I think it captures him okay - it's not as realistic as Jo Chen's stuff, but it captures the essence of him thinking well enough. #13 is part two of "Wolves at the Gate".

Here's an image of the pre-coloured variant to #15.

Heres the inked version. ^^ Jo Chen will be coming back soon. They only changed her because they wanted fresh art and junk. Jons works alright its just sometimes a little too blurry at times.
