I even watched Comic Con on TV for about an hour waiting for something about Joss but I didn't hear this! I hope it's true.

Let's hope. Another announcement as part of the same article I read is that Oz will appear at some point over season 8/9.

Got the same news from whedon.info. I guess you would, since it's also where Bre got her info!

That would be so cool to have Oz back with the gang. I wonder how him being there would interfere with Willow and Kennedy. Actually we don't even know if they're still together yet.

I'm soooooooooo giddily happy for the return of Oz! It'll be interesting to see what Joss imagines he's been up to over the past few years. And it will definitely be interesting to see what kind of effect his appearance has on Willow (and possibly Kennedy).

I'm not so excited for Oz's return. I mean they can't put him with Willow, so what will he be there for?

Oooh Oz return! Thats something I would have liked to have seen in season 7, so I am glad it will be happening.

Honestly though, I doubt I'll be reading season 9 if I lose interest in season 8. I'm starting lose interest already actually. It's hard for me to get into the comics.

We haven't seen him for years, and he presumably sent the time trying to gain control of the werewolf. So, to me, it could be very interesting.

I agree with Allan. I don't just see Oz as just Willow's boyfriend. It would definitely be interesting to see what he has been up to the last time we saw him. Maybe he has an army of werewolves with im. Does anyone know if Oz is coming back in season 8 or 9?

From bits and pieces I've seen, my guess is it's season 8. In an article I'll have to find and post from Comic-Con, Joss was asked generically about the comic - "Will Oz return" to which he replied "Yes".

I've always attached "Willow's boyfriend" to the end of Oz's name in my mind, because they're my favorite BtVS couple. But, that's certainly not all I see him as. As mentioned, when we last saw him he went off to learn to control the wolf. It will definitely be interesting to see what he's been up to, if he's been successful, etc. And there's always the possibility that what he's learned during that time could be used in some way to help the Slayers. So there are definitely more ways he can be brought back into the group than just being Willow's ex-boyfriend.

And we also had other characters like Warren, Amy and Ethan returning. Isn't that a bit too much for this season?

Well, Riley isn't actually confirmed. It just makes sense given the "Initiativeness" of the army.
As for whether it's too much, I think that comes down to what the story itself calls for.

Any idea when season 9 could be? I heard 8 will take about 2 years...which means we might be waiting for a loooong time for Oz!

Dunno. They're saying Season 8 could even be 50 issues, which would be over four years - closer to five, given them taking the occasional month off. That said, I would imagine that total would now be including season 9.

I seriously hope these news are true. Whedon.info is known for their bullshit stories. So until someone finds another source, I will let this one be 'plausable' but not 'true'..

I dunno... Season 9? Joss has kind of pulled out a half-ass season 8 so far. Personally I'd rather Joss release a graphic novel of Buffy (much like Sin City or Sandman) rather then all these small issues that seem less Buffy then we're use to.
I guess Joss is going to ride this thing until it ends, but really, bringing Oz back? How about something new Joss?

I've seen it on more reliable sources that were reporting from San Diego. I'll try to find a link and post it here. I dunno... Season 9? Joss has kind of pulled out a half-ass season 8 so far. Personally I'd rather Joss release a graphic novel of Buffy (much like Sin City or Sandman) rather then all these small issues that seem less Buffy then we're use to. Both Sandman and Sin City were originally written and released as individual issues. And they're releasing trade paperbacks of Buffy, by story arc. Exactly what they did with those two series'.
