I was wondering whether anyone here have read American Gods by Neil Gaiman.
I read the synopsis and it sounds pretty good but I'm not sure whether it's my kind of book.

I bought it but haven't gotten around to reading it. I love Neil Gaiman, so I think it will be good.

The books are very different. to give you a heads-up. Temperence is a bit older, works in Canada and there's no Team and no Booth. It's very serious, but still good as crime novels.

Last night I finished The Help. Wow. What a fantastic book. I have been thinking about it a lot since I finished reading - definitely one of the best books I've read in a while. Here's the summary from Wiki: The novel is told from the perspective of three characters: Aibileen Clark, a middle-aged African-American maid who has spent her life raising white children and has recently lost her only son; Minny Jackson, an African-American maid who has often offended her employers despite her family's struggles with money and her desperate need for jobs; and Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan, a young white woman who has recently moved back home after graduating college to find out her childhood maid has mysteriously disappeared. These three stories intertwine to explain how life in Jackson, Mississippi revolves around "the help"; yet they are always kept at a certain distance because of racial lines.

If your still interested in feed back on American Gods Shred then here it is. It's awesome, one of Gaiman's best. I put it on par with Good Omens which Gaiman wrote with Terry Pratchet. The book Anansi Boys is sort of a sequel as well.

Thanks! I bought it some time ago and read halfway through it. I liked what I read but didn't have time to finish it. Have to give it a go again once I have time for it.

I've been reading the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare at the moment and I'm quite enjoying it. Have you read the Hunger Games? Been hearing a lot of good things about it (and there's also a movie coming soon) but haven't had the chance to read it yet. I must do so before the movie comes out.

I looked for it at the library to I had to order it in. The waiting list was 45 people long! Thankfully it took a few days for it to get in but I think I will buy the next 2 books.

Yup, I've read it. I liked it. It's part of the Mortal Instruments series I mentioned above. Am now waiting impatiently for the second book. My friend is suppose to lend it to me as she has the whole series.

No way it's as good as THG so you might be a little disappointed. I always enjoy books to do with the supernatural/vampires/demons etc so I liked it.
