our discs have 5 episodes on each disc . What do you think about the theme tune? apparently it won a couple of awards. I love Rodneys reaction to Samantha, the first second he saw her on SG1 for his first appearence , his first words were "oh yeah...looking good" . SG1 is great, meeting the Asguard etc;, you wont be dissapointed!

Ours only have four, so that explains the difference. I don't mind the theme tune. I never thought it was anything brilliant, but it always managed to get stuck in my head. And that didn't piss me off, so it is a good thing. I'm looking forward to seeing Rodney meet Sam Carter for the first time. The bits we saw in Atlantis makes it look like it'd be quite amusing. I'm also looking forward to seeing more of the Asgard in SG-1. As you can probably tell from my banner set, I'm a bit of a Hermiod fan. I wasn't a big fan of SG-1, but gave up half way through season one. Everyone tells me it got far better, and I thoroughly enjoy Atlantis, so I'm looking forward to it.

Funnily enough I enjoyed the start, I cant remember it to much, but you meet the Nox at the start, and I love them. When the team changed to include him & her from farscape (which I watch alot when it first aired) it got a litle blah for me, I missed the Jack/Sam moments but there is a brilliant episode on season 10 called '200' the 200th episode, which is just brilliant I wasnt expecting much , my brother kept saying SG1 is really good, the first episode I feel asleep watching , but eventually watched the rest and got hooked. I mentioned before, if you decide to buy the fancy box set with all of the discs and the giant 3d stargate on the shiney box (which is what all the cool kids have!) , be careful with the discs, they have no cases and get dirty easy, a few times I got half way threw a disc and it started jumping so I had to remove the disc and clean it! grrr.

I'll be careful with the discs, though I am pretty anal with my DVDs. But the box set does look pretty - and it comes with features I won't find by buying them separately. So I'm really tempted to chase down a Region 1 version with the four bonus discs. I definitely will check the series out, though. I'm glad I took the gamble on Atlantis, but it's made me want to buy more now. I'm hooked.

The bonus Discs are definetly worth it, such a large collection of Special Features, including some hillarious Q&A sessions with the Actors . My brother just ordered SGA season 4, stargate continuum & stargate Ark of truth, they are coming on release date of July (I think) the benfit of having a brother who enjoys the same programmes as you, they pay and you just watch them!

Continuum comes out here in August, but we don't have a date for SGA season 4 yet. Hopefully it won't be too far off.
I'll have to have a hunt around for the region 1 SG-1 set (and then buy the two movies).

The interesting thing about Stargate SG1, is that it never seems to end, and if they follow their idea of a couple of movies released per year (straight to dvd movies mind you) could go on for a couple years more.

The movies are definitely worth it? And does SG-1 have much of a resolution before them?

Well I watched Ark of Truth and it is great, it is more of an ending to the arc that season 10 left, It is like one big episode to, and I believe it only cost them an extra 3 million (compared to what an episode would cost) . I love the group Dynamic, I was surprised how much I enjoyed SG1.

Glad to here it was good. I'm probably going to hold of with it (and Continuum) until I've been through the ten SG-1 seasons, though if I don't want to, is it something I could follow decently without watching the series? Also, SGA season 4 has a release date here - it hits here in - a few months later than you.

Definetly not, Ark of truth is more of a finale to the SG1 series than the last episode they made, it continues with a storyline of the last couple seasons, (though I skipped a few episodes in season 9 & 10) . I could never have waited that long to watch the fourth season, I am hopeless with cliffhangers! so many different possibilities are always running threw my head as to what will happen next, and it is sci fi! anything could happen . I cant wait to have some more commentary hehe .

I hate cliffhangers for that very reason. The finale to season three was great, and fairly low key, though it was a brilliant cliffhanger. Oh, and Nico, you have to get everything organised early so you and Steven can have a Halloween wedding - though it will have to be a few days early (but still feel free to dress up!). Then you have to come to Australia for your honeymoon, and make sure you're in Melbourne on 1/2 November, so you can meet David Hewlett, Michael Shanks, and Andee Frizzel (Atlantis Wraith queen). Oh, and Adam West (not that he's ever done any Stargate ). I may have to try to make it to this.

Michael Shanks will be in Australia! if you go you have to try get a Picture of him, I think he is just great , fantastic actor and even off the stage he is still great fun to watch!. David Hewlett of course is the same, he is one of those people who would happily talk to anyone ! I cant believe they will be at the same event, it is like 2 for 1! I will be jealous if you go lol

I'll try and get a picture just for you, Nico. I haven't gotten into SG-1 yet, so admittedly, he isn't a huge draw just yet (no doubt that will change after seeing it), though David Hewlett will be great (I'll definitely be getting both their signatures). Between them and Adam West, it'll be a great line-up - and they're also getting David Anders (Sark from Alias / Adam from Heroes). From all the behind the scenes stuff, David Hewlett does seem like he'd be a bit talkative.

LOL, Nico. If I end up making it, let me know if you would like me to sort some squiggles out for you, though. Did you find that season 8-10 dropped much in quality, or is it more a slight preference for those seasons?

I will definetly try to remember to mention it if you end up going Allan, Cheers!. I think it is personal preference, the quality is still great, the main bad guys for those final seasons are pretty darn awesome, (as awesome as enemies can be!) I found it hard getting used to having no Jack Oneill, but I am trying to make time to watch those episodes again, it is when they finally end the original SG1 it had been coming for a while, they had to mix up the main cast a little, though the two people they brought in, did a pretty darn good job.

Was Richard Dean Anderson still an executive producer after Jack O'Neill left, or did he drop the series completely? Shows generally don't feel "right" after the lead character leaves, unfortunately, even if their replacement is really good. Especially when they've been running for so long.
It's good to hear the quality's still strong at the end of the show, though. Glad that it doesn't just "jump the shark" and lose the plot completely.
