Favourite and least favourite characters? My favourites are Legolas and Gimli (when they are together, its the interaction between them I love most) and Aragorn - of course Least is Frodo. Boo hiss!

Poor Frodo. He probably had the hardest time out of all of them. Aragorn is most definitely my favorite. He is a great fighter, loyal, and a leader. What a great guy. Least favorite? Jeez. Um. I can't think of one at the moment.

Oh like you wouldn't be whining if you were in his situation.

I'm not a hero! I think Sam had it WAY harder than Frodo to be honest.

Aragorn is wonderful. Legolas is great. Sam is gorgeous. Eowyn i adore, especially her 'I am no man' moment ;D Frodo blows. I would have pushed him off into fires of Mount Doom given half a chance

I agree with Paul about Gimli - he was just a lot of fun. His competitiveness with Legolas was also amusing. I couldn't agree more with everyone with the Frodo hate, though. Though I'm not sure how much of that has to do with Elijah Wood...

Aww poor Frodo. You can liken Frodo to Ron Weasley a bit though. When Ron was wearing the horcrux round his neck he became an irritating git and Frodo was the same. He had this evil manipulating thing round his neck. Sam had it hard too but he didnt have the burden to carry the ring.
I dont really have a least favourite one but my fave was definately Aragorn.

Yeah I don't like Frodo Frodo didn't have to keep the burden to himself, Sam had been unaffected the entire time and could have shared it. I don't have a favourite character.

Favorite in the book was Gandalf, but in the movie Gollum probably beat him out a little. My least favorite in the book was either Sam or Gollum (ironically) and least favorite in the movie was maybe Pippin. (or Sam or Frodo. The hobbits kinda sucked all around).
I always liked Gimli but felt he was made too much of a comic relief. Especially in the movies. Aragorn/Strider rocked. Legolas was of course "perfect" like all the pauncie elves (not really an elf fan). I did like how the movies fleshed out Arewan's character more (and the human chick too, can't remember her name). I definately felt a lot more empathy for Boramir in the movies then the books.

I love Merry and Pippin in the movies. So cute, and so funny.

Legolas owns my allegience, be it book or movie he generally rocks. I would like Aragorn more if he didn't spend so much of the second film simpering after Arwen. I could have done without the romance factor in these films. Gimli is petty cool and the hobbits are so sweet, I love the scene where they are carrying the dwarves through the snow while Legolas flits about on top. The scene is kinda fun in the books too. I wasn't fond or Boromir, Faramir or their father. In fact their father sent me into a bit of a fit of rage. lol.

Denthor? I liked him because he was so freaking insane. I love crazy people. I didn't mind the romance in the movies. It didn't seem to take up a lot of time, so it didn't bother me.

It may have more to do with me not liking the actress that plays Arwen. My pet peeve is people chewing loudly so I am sure you could understand how that scene just about made me freak.

It's a huge pet peeve of mine as well, so I can definitely see where you are coming from. Though it's supposed to be annoying so that's why I love it. And Pippin singing is cute.

I know, he had such a sweet voice... wish Dethor wasn't in that scene cause I would have liked to fully enjoyed that. As far as deleted secenes go, the one with Gimli and Legolas with their drinking contest and then their 42 vs 43 contest. So darn funny. "He was twitching." and "My fingers are tingling... I think it's starting to affect me!" As you can see I was just recently re watching the series while I read the books for the first time. They are pretty similar I am surprised so far.

I love Gimli's and Legolas' competitions. Makes some heavy scenes much lighter. I think the screenwriters did do a really good job adapting those books into film. They didn't leave anything necessary out and the little details they put in, shows how big of fans (of the books) the writers of the movies are.

Agreed and since I watched the movies first I was actually getting frusterated with how often I felt like I was quoting the movie while reading the book, and some of the dissappointing battle scenes that are usually better in the books are way more fun in the movies. Coolest moments of battle: Legolas flipping onto the horse as they ride up. Legolas Shield-boarding down the stairs while slamming some arrows home in Orc heads. Then using said shield as a weapon. Legolas killing the Oliphant. Legolas fighting the cave troll. Merry and Pippen attacking the cave Troll. (Pretty much every time Legolas picks up a weapon) Eeowyn Killing the witch King. Sam laying the smack down with a pan. The riders coming to Helms deep's aid. Dwarf Tossing Gimli. Actually the battle scenes were all pretty awesome. I think I am going to need you to make me an awesome Legolas, or Legolas and Gimli set. (Er... a platonic Legolas and Gimli set, I know I like some weird pairings but that one just doesn't work for even me. )
