Since everyone on here seems to hate Cordy and Angel together I thought I would start a thread to discuss it.
I used to dislike Cangel. I don't anymore. I really love the friendship between the two and though I think the 'love' was a little rushed, in the end I liked it. Cordy and Angel understood each other extremely well and were there for each other a lot. I do think they loved each other. Who knows if it would have worked out, but I like them.

I'll admit, I don't watch as much Angel as I do Buffy. But what I've seen of Cangel.. I'm not a fan of it. I love their friendship, and like you said.. they understand eachother extremely well, but not so well where they are in love. I guess it just seemed a bit odd to me, because knowing Cordy and Angel when they were back on Buffy.. it's hard for me to picture them all lovey-dovey with eachother. The only time I did like them "together" was in 'Your Welcome'. But I think that was just because of the joy of seeing Cordy back.

But they were never all lovey-dovey with each other, even when they admitted they were in love. They never got the chance for an actual relationship, and You're Welcome shows more what their relationship would have been like. It was based strongly on that friendship. As for Cordy and Angel back in BtVS - well they had both changed a lot

I hate Angel/Cordy. I loved their relationship when they were friends, but I don't think they are good as more than friends. And I think it was also very rushed. Angel is all depressed about Buffy's death and 2 or 3 episodes later he thinks he has feelings for Cordelia. Okay...that makes no sense. Even for those of you who don't like Buffy and Angel together you have to admit that that is unrealistic. Also, I think Angel was very lonely and hurting and he just turned to Cordelia for comfort. I know they were never really together, but I think Angel needed to feel something (sound familiar?) and he used those "feelings" as a buffer for the pain he was in. (Buffy's death and resurrection, Connor, Wes later) Plus, there were others (Fred and Lorne) who pushed him to her. They planted the idea in his head, he didn't think of it himself.

Yeah that whole Kyrumption thing from Fred just came out of nowhere for me. I never viewed them as having more than just a friendship and then Fred came out with that and Angel just started acting wierd from then on. For me it was rushed and Cordy also had a very quick brain transplant. In Provider she tells Angel off for thinking more about the money than the mission even though less than a quarter of a Season ago she was money obsessed. It was like the writers were trying to mold her into someone who we could imagine with Angel too quickly. I was very glad when Groo came back and stopped it from happening and was even happier when Cordy left with Groo because she was causing too much damage

well I wouldn't agree with that. For me the Angel/Cordy relationship didn't get to kick off until Waiting in the Wings and they were posessed by the lovers, during that I think they knew what they were doing and still wanted it to happen but only through lust. In my opinion Angel and Cordy were much more suited as friends, sure they could have a relationship but it would completely change that dynamic and I would hate that to happen.
As for your points Glenn, I really don't think she changed that dramatically and I don't think it was forced. I think in Provider Cordy was more worried about Connor rather than the money which is perfectly understandable, I mean at that point she was more like a mother to him.
So to get back to my point- I don't hate Cangel its just something I didn't want to see. Their friendship was so unique and fantastci that I didn't want to see it change at all

I hate Angel/Cordy. I loved their relationship when they were friends, but I don't think they are good as more than friends. And I think it was also very rushed. A close friendship that developed into something more over two and a half years was more rushed than Buffy and Angel falling in love after 7 episodes? There were glimpses of how much Cordy and Angel meant to each other starting back at the end of season one, when Cordelia is in hospital and Angel says that he needs her. They weren't in love then, but it was the start of Angel realising how much she meant to him. He didn't realise he was in love with Cordelia, or had stronger than friendship feelings for her until it was pointed out to him, but that happens in real life too. You don't always realise how you really feel about someone until something happens to make you see. Angel was depressed that he wasn't that broken hearted about Buffy's death. That he could deal with it and it didn't break him. Sure, but he was lonely and hurting for over 100 years and didn't just find someone for comfort. No they pointed out to him that his feelings were stronger for Cordy than he may have realised. Which they got from his actions Angel accepted their words because he did have feelings for Cordelia that were more than friendship. He pushed her away with Groo because he wanted her to be happy and thought that made he would make her happier than Angel could.

Oh boy, I would get into this, but then again, i'm already doing it on two other forums . One of which I really need to get back to.. just haven't been in the debating mood lately =/. But I'll make an overall statement, and that's it! lol. Cordy/Angel were better off friends, they made much more of a statement as friends than when they we 'lovers'. Angel went and left Buffy for one reason, and then he completely disregarded that reason to be with Cordelia, which makes absolutely no sense. Sure, the circumstances were different, but Cordelia still deserved, and to my knowledge, wanted the things that Angel couldn't give her. I don't like how Cordelia changed, and don't really agree with the path the writers took with her.

Angel left Buffy because she wanted a normal life, or as much of one as she could have had being the slayer. Cordelia had given up on having a normal life, she was as dedicated to fighting as Angel was, she gave up being completely human and having her dream life to help Angel. And he knows this, so why would he think she wanted any other life? Unlike Buffy who still talked about having children and growing old with Angel. So he didn't disregard that reason, it didn't apply to Cordelia. And I don't agree with the path the writers took a lot of the characters but its what happened on the show. Cordelia did change, whether you liked it or not.

I like Cordelia and Angel better as close friends as well, but I loved that friendship and wasn't against seeing it continue to develop. They were in love, they said they were in love onscreen, more than once though not always to each other - so they were, even if you think it was rushed. Which yeah it was a little, the actually love part, but I guess not more than most of the other relationships.

naw he say later in earshot he loved her since he first saw her so he admit he loved her from episode one so he did fall in love with her quicker and she not have to say she love him before, coz was known she admit it to xander and willow and giles in angel even if she not said it to him yet

Loving someone and being in love is different. Love at first sight is entirely bullshit IMO so disregard the Earshot comment all together. And, yeah Buffy says she loves him from early on but, well, Buffy is an idiot
