The gatekeeper and unseen trilogies. Hmmm. Also Monster Island, I enjoyed that one. The Lost Slayer books (there are four mini books or you can get it all in the one book)

yeh you definately have to read all those they're like the bench mark high quality buffy books unlike some of the recent attempts! But thank god for 'Blackout' I just started it yesturday and I'm already halfway through without realising it. You can really tell that Decandio is a real fan of the show and other Buffy books, he puts in numerous references and hasn't got a single fact wrong. you can't really call it a Buffy book though because Buffys not in it its completely centered around Spike, Nikki and a vampire network in Harlem. But its definately a good read, the only disappointing thing is that its not as long as the other books, but its the best written book we've had in a long time

I've read almost all of the Buffy books (yes, I'm a geek! ). I have to recommend the Lost Slayer series to those who haven't read it yet. It's an excellent series. The plot is great and orignial and there are a lot of twists and turns. If one day Joss decides to do a Buffy movie based on a book, I would sooo vote for this. ;D

Ah ok.
The Lost Slayer is probably still my favourite of all the Buffy Novels which i have to say have become really poor since.

Thevampiredust, please edit your posts instead of doubleposting I loved the Lost Slayer. I agree the newer ones have gotten a lot worse, I prefer the ones set in season 3 mostly.

Books I really dislike are Seven Crows and Heat. Seven Crows was awful as the characterisation was really very bad. Heat was just...there's no word for it. The plot was really very bad and I didn't even finish the book. Got bored of it.

ITA - those are probably my least favourite two, along with Queen of Slayers. BAD.

I had high hopes for it and Nancy Holden have written great Buffy stories in the past. Never expected her to write something like this. The ending was so far fetched, even for Buffy. Oh! Another favourite of mine is Blood (or I think it's called Blood ). It's set during season 3 if I'm not mistaken.

Did anyone read "Go Ask Malice: A Slayer's Diary?" It's by Robert Joseph Levy, and it was Faith's life before her watcher came. I found it was a very good book, and I'd love to discuss it with someone of any of you has read it...

But then again, I've been out of touch with what are the new books being released. Speaking of, any new books being released that are good? It's been awhile since I last read a Buffy book.

I've known about it for a while and just forgot it was coming out, it sounded really interesting. Hopefully I can pick it up at the library because I have no money to buy it edit by Beck - fixed quote

Did you ever read it Tash?
I am currently reading Monster Island again. I love it but there is something that annoys me slightly. The writer of it seems to have his own continuity. Things such as "Angel had only met Tara once before" in reality he never met her. And Gunn had never met Buffy before like mentioned. It seems you have to have read all of that writers previous books on Buffy/Angel to fully understand all the references.
Do you think that is a good idea or do you think that with each separate book they should stick to canon events only?

Sorry didn't catch this before..... no I never got round to getting the book.
I get what you mean about Monsters Island and it happens with a lot other books as well, personally I like it. Some of the writters have written 4 or more books in the verse so I think its good to give them the liberty to use continuity of their previus work and even the work of other writters.
I guess it may bug some people because they may not have read all the Buffy books or even not read them in published order so it could get confusing. Personally I think it shows their depth and understanding of the Buffy verse and also their dedication to producing a quality book.
