I will never defend Spike for the attempted rape (AR) because he was clearly in the wrong HOWEVER imo it was out of character and simply a plot device to make everyone feel sorry for Buffy because she was the nasty one in the relationship.

and he gave her an ultimatum after HE cheated on her with vampires whores! he was a complete macho jerk Believe me, if you are mad at him for that, I actually do understand you. He had no right to make it seem all her fault. If you allow me, though, I believe it is a bit more complex than that. Besides, I don't think Riley really intended to give her an ultimatum. In a heated discussion with such strong feelings involved it's easy to say something offensive that you do not actually mean, and I believe that is what happened there. Things got out of control. Yes I know it could seem like I want to justify him. Let me assure you I really don't want to do that. But I do think he loved her, despite the many mistakes he has done [/size]

Riley's problem was he loved her too much and she didn't love him. She was a lot happier with him than she was with the other two.

I actually agree with what you both are saying, but I still prefer Spuffy over Ruffy. It was a lot more interesting. Hell, I prefer season 2 Bangel over Ruffy

Absolutely. Beck, I do think you are right. I don't think I ever claimed that Ruffy could be more "interesting" than either Spuffy or Bangel. It most definitely wasn't. Especially in Season 5 it seemed the writers didn't know what to do with Riley's character... Being just human, once the Initiative was gone there wasn't much left for him to do in Sunnydale... except staying at Buffy's side. Of course, I wish he had done that, but hey...that's my heart talking His character had kind of completed his evolution. Oh well... I'm happy with what I got

Yup I agree. I like Riley, and the more I watch season 4 the more I don't mind the Ruffy ship. I didn't even mind it that much in season 5, but Riley's character was pretty much shoved into the background. Really they could have done something with him, but the writers chose not to.

just a thought, have you ever considered changing Ruffy to Biley as it sums up there relationship in 1 word ;D i am a spuffy fan mainly because buffy had become a woman while she was still pretty much a girl with Angel i think buffys greatest BTVS relationship was with parker just kidding

I have even looked it up in my English-Italian dictionary but there is no trace of it! I guess I should get a new dictionry too...

just a thought, have you ever considered changing Ruffy to Biley as it sums up there relationship in 1 word ;D i am a spuffy fan mainly because buffy had become a woman while she was still pretty much a girl with Angel Buffy may have been a woman but she was also deeply depressed and all Spike did was make her feel worse about herself. Do you have any actual reasons for disliking Riley and Buffy's relationship? I don't see it as gross and I'm not sure how it could be considered worse than Buffy having demeaning sex with a vampire she hated.

Demeaning? Well ok... I'll give you that. But who cares... it was hot! I actually think Spike wasn't such a bad thing for Buffy even in season 6. Sleeping with him might not have made Buffy feel any better about herself, buut at least it made her feel something. And again with the it was hot!

i dont actually dis like the riley relationship as much as the angel one
i liked the fact that he was a normal guy with no super powers and that he just acted like a regular guy in love he felt hurt when buffy confided in someone else (spike) rather than him and that he knew the person he loved didnt really love him back, so with that in the back of your mind you are gonna do some foolish things
but atleast he brought a little bit of normality to her life for a brief time, lets face it she seemed more content with Riley for a longer period than she ever felt content withany of her other loves

yeh go Riley!!!
Sorry! I don't really dislike any of Buffy's relationships but I did think she could have done a lot better than Spike, perhaps not in season 6 with the way she was feeling but definately in season 7- she should have moved on from him

I disagree. Spike was really good for Buffy in season 7. He was the one that stood by her and comforted her when the other kicked her out. He gave her the strength to go fight Caleb again. I think they had a very loving and wonderful relationship in season 7. And yeah, too tired to expand on that right now.

I agree he was a good friend to Buffy in seaason 7 possibly her best friend, but I don't think they should hav had a relationship and I don't think there should have been the question of who she loved more

I don't like to ever get into discussions about who loved who more. Its pointless in my opinion.
But Spike and Buffy never had a relationship as such in season 7. They had a great friendship, bulit on mutual trust, respect, understanding and then genuinely fell in love later in the season. Had time gone on a relationship would probably have developed more, but as it was - they were friends who happened to love each other very much.

Exactly! thats why I think Buffy should have had a boyfrined in s7. Spike and Buffy work so much better together as friends and is a lot more interesting than if they were in a relationship or implied that they were going to be in a relationship

Why do you think she should have had another boyfriend? Aside from the fact that season 7 was very much about women power and strength, a boyfriend would have been a disctraction and at that point in Buffy's life a new boyfriend would not have been something she wanted. I think a new love interest in the last season would have been a bad idea. If she had wanted a relationship during season 7 it would have been with Spike, no one else.
