I'm a Bangel girl myself. I love the drama of the two of them together. Don't get me wrong i love Spike (see sig and avi), but i think he's too good for Buffy.

Meaning Spike is better than Angel Bangel was boring. well, it was in season 3. and predictable. I didn't mind either Bangel or Ruffy, but to me, Spuffy had everything. In season 6 it had passion, lust, desire, intesity. in season 7 it had intimacy, respect, love and understanding. It was always interesting and exciting to watch, never boring. yes it also had the AR. that i can't forgive (Bad Spike - BAD) but it is easy to see how it happened. I always thought Buffy's love for Spike was more real than her love for Angel. Angel was her teen love. her first love. first love is always intense. which is why Angel is always still in her heart. but she loved Angel as a child. She loved Spike as a woman. it was a more grownup love. no she didn't tell him she loved him often - but actions speak louder than words.

Yes Spike is better than Angel. But your question is about who Buffy should be with. And in that i am 100% for Angel. I love Spuffy but only because of what his love for her did to him. For the man that loving the wench made him... How can you say that Bangel were boring? 'Amends', 'The Prom', 'I will remember', 'Grad Day PII', 'Enemies' to name just few of my absolute faves- you found those boring did ya? Remember the piece i wrote at uni for journalism Beck? It was about how through history the greatest stories of love are those that are forbidden, and the original vampire loves slayer story was all about that. Also i gotta ask, why must you trivialise first love? Just because you are young doesn't mean you don't have the capacity to love someone fully and maturely. I don't think the fact that loving someone when you are young makes it a lesser relationship or less real. As for the glorious Spike, don't get me started on the AR (as you so sweetly put it), you know what a load of shite i think that was. I know it sounds horrible but not for one second did i dislike Spike in that situation. Buffy was so completely heinous to Spike for years and we were supposed to accept it and not think less of her. Spike had a 'lapse of judgement' shall we say and he becomes BAD Spike. And i don't think her actions speak louder than words really. If she loved him she should have told him. Ok end rant. Must go do work.

I am not trivilaising first love. i think it is important. but i don't believe Angel was buffy's true love, which is what most Bangel fans think. I think the realtionship Buffy had with Spike was a more equal relationship, more understanding. and I'm not the only one. Joss himself said that Spuffy was the more equal relationship.
and yes, i found Bangel boring in season 3. The Prom and I will Remember You (well not technically S3 but anyway) are two episodes that I like them in. Aside from that, i just don't find it that interesting. I used to. the more i watch it, the more they annoy me together. Enemies was good because Angel was pretending to be bad...not because of his relationship with Buffy. Don't get me wrong, Season 3 was my favourite season. but I wasn't a fan of S3 Bangel.
As for the AR, it happened because the writers wanted to make Buffy into the victim, after she had been a bitch to spike for so long. it was out of character. and buffy had said no when meaning yes so many times, spike didn't realise this time she meant it. he should have though, so i'm not excusing his behaviour.

couldn't be bothered replying to all that rant going on there, so I'll just interrupt to reply to... "How can you say that Bangel were boring? 'Amends', 'The Prom', 'I will remember', 'Grad Day PII', 'Enemies' to name just few of my absolute faves- you found those boring did ya?" (okay I don't like the quote thing on this site. sorry beck)
Didn't really like I will remember you. Buffy was annoying in it. And Amends - bored the hell out of me. Crappy episode if you ask me. Enemies rules - because, well, what Beck said. Yeah couldn't be bothered finishing. I want to eat some breakfast.

Joss has also said that the ultimate relationship is between Spike and Angel..... Enemies was SO about Angel's relationship with Buffy. It reminded her of his ability to do evil and how they could never logically work. Do you not remember the end of the episode? Its all about them. See the subtext. Th AR was to make Spike an enemy again. James himself says that. He also says it freaked him out that everyone pretty much still loved Spike after it.

I didn't say Enemies wasn't about Buffy and Angel. but their realtionship is not why i like that ep. i love it because of the awesome scenes between angel and faith.
ah Spangel. so many people love the Spike/Angel slash thing. I think Joss encourages it. i reckon something probably happened between them.
and yes, i agree with you about the AR making Spike the enemy again.

I'm 100% Spuffy. Their relationship is what made me obsessed about this show. I just love the evolution they went through... from mortal enemies who hated each other's guts to lovers (and not lovers as in sex buddies... I mean lovers as in the end of season 7). The fact that they were able to love each other deeply in the end despite all the shit they put each other through is moving and touching to me. And if I am allowed to pull this out... I hate bangel with my whole being! The sight of those two in the same room makes me cringe, with their sappiness and their over-melodrama.

hey how come I can't vote??? Anyways I'm gonna go with Ruffy just to be akward, to be honest the more I watch season 4 the more I love their relationship; I do also love Bangle but I think I'm coming round more to Ruffy beacause in season 4 their relationship was everything that Buffy needed.

I CANT vote either! And I think It's because Beck knows I am gonna vote for Angel! Of course he was her true love, how do you think she broke the curse of his soul!

You can both now vote. All polls were locked because there was trouble with the results of them. That problem has been fixed, so I have unlocked the poll. Vote away.
Bangel...true love. *vomit* She may have been his only real love (until Cordy anyway) but for Buffy he was just her first love. She was 16 years old. And until Angel went evil, she was still fairly young and innocent. He put her through so much pain, and she was miserable for much of their relationship. I used to like Bangel, and I still don't mind it in the early days. Season 3 its boring. In any case, true love or not...can you honestly say its more interesting that Spuffy? I think not.
Anyway anytime I see Becoming with the Buffy flashback to her calling, all I see is this perverted old man (Angel) staring at a innocent young girl (buffy) from his car window...creepy.
Ruffy. I don't mind Ruffy. Poor Riley. He loved her so much and he still got treated like the rebound guy.

Angel is not a perverted old man you weirdo! You and i have had MANY discussions on how you constantly dismiss first love as nothing important, you know it pisses me off. I think Buffy and Angel are THE couple of the Buffyverse. I can not go past eps like Surprise, Innocence, Becoming, Amends, The Prom, Grad Day, I will remember you..... It is IMO the most brilliant example of forbidden love in celluloid history. I love Spike and Buffy is completely heinous to him for a majority of what i will loosely refer to as there relationship. She doesn't deserve him. Plain and simple. Buffy and Riley just doesn't have it for me. Riley loved her so much. She did not feel the same way (as much as she may have tried to convince herself). Its as Spike said 'The girl needs some monster in her man'......
