I only voted for season 1 for Doyle. Otherwise I couldn't choose.
Dislikes:
3/4 for Connor and 4 for evil cordy. 5 for Angel being annoying, the way they used Spike and the presence of Eve.

Well I like season one mostly just because its the 1st season (if that makes sense!) But also because of Doyle and some really good guest appearences- Spike, Oz, Buffy, Faith. All are in really memorable and fantastic ep's. Other highlights were 'room with a view', 'Somnambulist', 'The Ring'.
On the other hand there are some awful episodes: 'Eternity', 'She', Expecting', Lonley Hearts'. All had really weak plots and not the best suporting actors/ actresses.
Season 2 took a different line from season 1, it carried on the W, R + H vibe from season 1 and turned it into a series long arc, it also brought Darla + Dru back. it gave us more insight into Angels past and Angel got really mean and moody!
Good ep's: 'Are You Now or Have You Ever Been', 'Dear Boy', 'Guise Will Be Guise', 'The Trial', 'Redefinition', 'Epiphany'
Bad ep's: 'Belonging' is the only one that didn't really appeal to me.
Season 3 brings another change in direction, another 2 cast members. I can say that there is only one episode in the whole season that I wasn't keen on 'couplet', the rest were fantastic and how cut was baby Connor/s!!! it was definately this season that left me begging for more the most.
Season 4 comes screwed up connor, dark wes, the Beast and Jasmine. what a brillient arc this was, it took up the whole season but it really was worth it. The whole Beast/Angelus/Faith storyline was definately the highlight for me and the corzy/Connor affair was just sick, doesn't bare thinking about! Again only on episode that I didn't like 'supersymmetry', it was a good way to finish off Freds past but I really hated what it did to Fred/ Gunn's relationship.
Finally season 5 we get back to the story of the week and after the darkness of season 4 its a welcome change, there is honestly not one episode that I would change I just love it and accept it for what it is. The introduction of Spike brought a lot more humor and that was a really great change, I know some people think that Spike on Angel undermined his sacrifice in Chosen, but I was just happy to have Spike back, the way he interscted with Fred and then Illeria was very unique to the show.
There you go Beck is that long enough for ya? lol

You've watched them all now though right? Yes Buffymanic you liked Season 5? I hated it. There were a few great episodes but mostly it was appalling. it should never have been made. Spike crossing over was one of the worst ideas I've seen on either show. He went from being an interesting character to a complete waste of space. All character development was ignored and he was reduced to pathetic jealousy spats with Angel. Lorne was far too underused, they made as well have written him out all together. Where was Cordelia? She was sorely missed, and they barely mentioned her except in 'Your Welcome' and then she just vanished again. Eve was a pathetic replacement for Lilah, they should have had Hamilton right from the start. Season 5 picked up towards the end, but after a brilliant season 4 I was very disappointed by this season.

I'm not a huge fan of Season five as a whole but i really love some of the eps in it- Smile Time, You're Welcome and Not Fade Away for example. As a devoted Spike fan i absoutely hate what they did to his character. As i mentioned in the 'Spike- ruined by ATS' thread the writers seemed to ignore everything that had happened to Spike in the past three seasons of Buffy and just chucked Season 4 Spike in to annoy Angel. Eve is in my top five most despised characters in the whole Jossverse. I really hate her. Apart from being terribly miss-cast (Sarah Thompson is not a great actress and looks far too young for the part... when she was making out with Lindsey it seemed kind of, well, icky) the character is, as Shaun said, a pathetic replacement for Lilah. Another problem with with Season 5 is the fact that they tried really hard to 'play' the audience. The perfect example of this is A Hole in the World. I was upset the first time i watched it but on repeat viewing it really kind of pisses me off. While it is brilliantly acted (hats off to Alexis and Amy) it seems to me that it is written simply to hurt the audience who has put many years into watching these characters. I mean they hooked up Fred and Wes simply to make Fred turning into Illryia more painful. They didn't even have the courtesy to make it an arc. Its just a couple of episodes before AHITW that Fred all of a sudden starts giving Wes the stink eye and the end of the episode before AHITW that they get together. I love all of ATS but Season 5 was definitely a dissapointment.

Wow I forgot this thread existed. But I'm reviving it. I voted for season 3 before the poll screwed up, and I stand by that now. It does change depending on my mood, I like Season 4 a lot more now than I used to because I don't hate Conner as much, and Season 2 I adore for the Darla angle.

Lets see
Angel Season 1 likes - Pretty much the whole thing, i loved the whol darkness vibe of the series, and i loved some of the early episodes. Doyle was a great addition to the more familiar cast members. It also introduced my favourite big bad of all thime Wolfram & Hart. Episodes I particularly enjoyed were Hero (I couldnt believe we were given an episode like this so early on) and 5 by 5 Angel Season 1 Dislikes - I have very few negatives about the first Season, i enjoyed the characters and most of the episodes. Ones not so good for me were Sense and Sensitivity and Eternity
Angel Season 2 likes - Lilah & Lindsey, Lorne and Pylea were pretty much all i liked in this Season im sorry to say. Angel Season 2 dislikes - After the randomness of Season 1 which i enjoyed i was looking forward to a more arc like Season this time around. Unfortunately for me this didnt happen and it was kind of Dull. I wasnt so keen on the whole Darla thing and i didnt like it when Angel went off the deep end. Some of the second half of the Season Episodes were just junk, Blood Money, Happy Anniversary, The Thin Dead Line.
Angel Season 3 likes - I loved the storyline of this Season as it was our first arc like one. We got a 'Big Bad' shall we say in Holtz. Holtz was a very interesting character, what he was doing i was both getting annoyed about but also understanding. He wanted revenge for the slaughter of his family but we know Angel to be a good guy who feels guilt about what he did. But what does Angel's own guilt mean to Holtz....nothing. Wesleys 'betrayal' shall we say was a huge moment for his character and another confliction in the storyline, we can both see what he is doing as potentially wrong but also can understand why he is doing it. And of course Coner wooo. Top Episodes are Waiting In The Wings, Forgiving, Lullaby and the end to the season regarding the grown up Conners arrival Angel Season 3 Dislikes - Sorry to most of you but the potential of an Angel/Cordelia romance had me on edge through many of the episodes and i was glad to see her leave for a while with Groo. Also the Fred/Gunn relationship just stank of filler for the characters. Poor Episodes for me were Fredless, That Old Gang Of Mine and Double Or Nothing
Angel Season 4 likes - This whole Season is very strong with a fantastic arc. The twists kept coming, first with t he emergance of the Beast and then that the Beast had in fact a boss, then that the boss was Cordelia and then that Cordelia was in fact not Cordelia but an Old One who was going to give birth to herself. Also another thing that made the Season so great was the fact that two of the most popular Buffyverse characters of all time made appearances at the same time - Angelus and Faith. The chemisty between these two is just electric and made for a very good episode arc. Top Episodes are Spin The Bottle Apocalypse Nowish and Soulless Angel Season 4 dislikes - I never really liked the whole Jasmine thing, it was just felt very bland and quite dull. Poor Episodes, Supersymmetry and The House Always Wins

I think you guys have pretty much covered it. I'll be very brief in my overview. Season 1 was let down by the fact that it was too much of a 'pitch' to the network and of course season 5 suffered this as well. That said with the emergence of Faith in S1 and dramatic arc development (even though it was somewhat rushed but that's the damn network's fault not Joss') in S5 both seasons were somewhat redeemed.
This leaves Season 2, 3 and 4, which were not only all well thought seasons in their own right but were well integrated with each other.
Season 4 has to be my favorite but not by much. The satisfying conclusion to the events that transpired across the previous seasons, along with the a deliciously ambiguous 'evil' made for some compulsive viewing. Also, we mustn't forget Faith and Angelus (For me the Faith and Angelus episodes were some of the best).

For me it's always between seasons 1 and 5. I don't find the other seasons quite as memorable (except season 4, which I strongly dislike), though part of that may be because I haven't seen seasons 2 and 3 in a while.
Season 1-- A great start to the series. Very strong. (Even if it was mostly a pitch to the network.) I think it had a good mix of known and unknown characters. Like BtVS season 1 it hadn't found its footing quite yet but was well on its way and had some wonderful episodes.
Season 5-- A wonderful end to the series, despite being somewhat rushed/compacted and another pitch to the networks. There were some episodes that I felt could have been better done or maybe weren't needed and some characters that didn't quite seem themselves, but overall I found it very strong. The introduction of Illyria was wonderful despite having to lose Fred to have her. And I enjoyed seeing Spike again although it took most of the season to return him to near where he was at the end of BtVS.
Based on all that, I think I'll say season 1. It was a great start.

Wow seasons 1 and 5 are my least favourites. I love the story arcs in the others 3 seasons. I used to dislike Season 4 because of the way too obvious that Cordy was evil and Conner ickiness, but on multiple viewings I have grown to love it. I love the Faith/Angelus interactions, Wesley/Lilah stuff, Wesley's intro back in to the group. The only thing I still hate is the end with Jasmine... I didnt find her charismatic enough to pull off that role. Season 3 I also adore... the pregnancy arc, seeing Darla back... I am a huge fan of Darla

I voted for season 3. I loved the Darla character development, and the twists with Connor. Plus, the finale was good.
It was hard deciding between season 2 and 3, though. However, I didn't like the last three episodes of season 2- they were good the first time, but got boring after that imo.

Now don't shoot me. It was close between three and this one. But I chose five. It always held the most interest. And of every season, the end of this one had me thirsting for more (more than the previous ones had) - sure you could say it was because it was the last season, but I was the most curious to see what happened after the big battle rather than what happened after the end of the other seasons. Plus I liked them at Wolfram & Hart.

It was a tough call, but to me season 5 shook things up a bit, and it felt "fresh". The Illyria stuff was beautiful, Smile Time was great, and the characters had to wrestle with something we hadn't quite seen in the Jossverse before.

I voted for season 2. I love everything that happens with Darla, and I love Lindsey. It's a close call between season 2 and season 3, though, because I also love what happens in season 3 with Darla having Connor's soul inside her. In case you haven't noticed, Darla's my favorite character. 4/5

Eh my favourite changes but I think it would be season 3. Closely followed by seasons 2 and 4. I hated season 4 at first, but love it now (bar the end which really let it down for me) I love season 1 and most of season 5 as well, but they aren't as good as the others imo. Season 1 was fairly 'monster of the week' as they found their footing, and season 5 fell apart in a lot of ways to me.
