Before Serenity was released, Joss wrote a three issue miniseries following in the blanks between the TV series and movie. A follow-up miniseries (though prequel to the original one) has been announced.

But in September, they're releasing a hardcover edition of the comic:

So, in light of this, has anyone else read this miniseries? Heard any rumours about the next one?

I've heard the rumors. And skimmed through the comics but didn't really read it thoroughly. I'll probably just get the hardcover.

They're rumours? I thought it was true that Joss is writing another miniseries called Better DAys. I've read Those Left Behind, pretty decent, not buying that though, since I already have the normal TPB.

I'm a sucker for oversized hardcovers, so I'll probably be picking it up.

As for the next comic, it was officially announced by Joss at one of the comic conventions (San Diego, I believe) as kicking off later this year.

I shall probably buy it if I ever find it, Perth is a place that hardly sells the comics that I want...unfortunately. Well by the time I am in Sydney in December I will have to buy a second suitcase to fit all my Buffy stuff in, lol

I can't remember having heard of these. Have you found that the comics set between the series and movie are pretty true to what was created and a reasonable depiction of what could have happened? Or not so much?

I've read Those Left Behind and it was really good. Though it's been so long that I can't really remember it
I'm definitly gonna put some money in for the hardcover since I know I will re-read it and besides, I'm a fan of hardcover books and magazinetypes

I've comepletely missed that there's another coming out, and if it does, I'm most definitly picking it up!

Yeah, I definitely have. They've only done the one miniseries so far ("Those Left Behind") and it was an entertaining read, and managed to fill in some of the blanks - ie, how come Book wasn't with the crew, etc. It's written by Joss, so it can all be considered canon, and was originally supposed to be an animated movie on DVD, before they couldn't get the budget for it.

It has been recently confirmed that Joss Whedon will reteam with Brett Matthews to write Serenity: Better Days for Dark Horse comics to be released in the fall of 2007 as we see what happens when a heist goes right and the crew finds themselves in a rare place: on easy street. "This new story will take place in the 'Firefly' years i.e., everyone's alive," teases Whedon. "Basically, they pull off a heist and everything doesn't go completely wrong. This, needless to say, has never happened, and it's about how they deal with success."

How many Firefly comics are out at the moment? Cause I hardly see them over here.

I haven't read any of the comics yet but will give them a try when I see it.

There is only the first miniseries, Those Left Behind. It's four issues long. Then there's the second one, which is coming soon.

No, that's the only one. And I wouldn't expect there to be tons more released after the next miniseries, either.
