Sirius dying. That was it for me. BUt the flinging didn't actually happen then. It happened around the time Harry was in Dumbledore's office, halfway through his screaming fit, where he was throwing things, I couldn't see the page anymore. I was crying to hard. And I wanted to break things too. So I threw the books. I didn't throw book six. I kind of sank into a morose heap for a few hours.

Oh I meant what could make you fling the seventh book Sirius dying was the worst thing that could have happened for me. He is my favourite character by far, though there are others that I love... they arent Sirius

He was mine too. And hot guy at work who's reading my books at the moment said the same, though he was too manly to admit to any book throwing.
In book seven? I dunno...I think anyone dying who doesn't deserve to, like Ginny or Mr. or Mrs. Weasley. Other things would make me plenty sad but I think those are the only things that would make me expell the book across my room.

Like I said in the other thread, Lupin dying or Snape being evil would get my book flung. And Snape being evil will make me boycott the series for awhile because it would piss me off so very much.

I don't think he'll be evil. I think JK knows the fans would never forgive her. Things I'd like to see in the seventh book include the redemption of Draco and Snape, Ron and Hermione finally getting together, the reason Dumbledore always trusted Snape, and...I dunno...Harry surviving? Though I don't have a lot of hope on that one.

I wish she wasn't writing her last book! No one writes this good anymore, I hate having to find new ways to occupy my time. Geez Skitty, you should have waited till book seven was written to introduce me to the series, this waiting is killer. When is the book coming out anyways? Before or after the movie?

If he turns out evil, it would be enough to turn me off the books, I dont know how long for. And I wouldn't watch the seventh movie. I'd like to see Draco redeemed too, but it would annoy me but not enough to boycott it. Harry dying would also annoy me but I'd understand it. I'm not fussed about Hermoine and Ron ending up together, I have always been more a Hermoine/Draco shipper in fanfic

I don't like Snape at all, I like Harry have inherited a hatred for him, with James and Sirius being my fave characters and all it only seems right. I would be happy to see Harry accidently killing him and THEN proving he was on the side of good!

The book comes out on July 21st and the movie is on July 11th. The stupid movie studio ruined the book release, which was supposed to be 7/7/07. But noooooooo, that would kill the publicity for the fifth movie. But if they'd had it open in November like the OTHER harry potter movies it wouldn't have been a problem. Harry Potter should not be a summer block buster. November just FEELs like HP time to me now.

I've got a countdown on my desktop that counts to the book on one side and the movie on the other. It never seems to move any farther forward. I'm planning on going to the movie as Tonks. I'm hoping to have purple hair and I already bought a Weird Sisters T-shirt, plus I've got my personal wand. I'm gonna be geektastic!

Makes sense to have the movie first though, cause people are more excited for the book and can you imagine how fast it will sell! I need to preorder it tomorrow.

We have a countdown at work for the next book. It's a cardboard cut out of Harry. I wanna take it when we're done with the countdown. Anyway I would be very impressed if she killed off Harry. Yes it would be sad, but then there is no way she could continue his story. It's good that she has a closure in mind and in 5 years or so I wouldn't want to see her come back to Harry's story. If Snape is bad that would mean Dumbledore would be foolish which would be the stupidest character writing I've ever read, so he has to be good. And she better bring back Sirius somehow!

She's already said she won't be bringing Sirius back, which makes me sad but I understand it. it cheapens a characters death when you just bring them back like that. And she's also said that she doesn't WANT to keep writing this after book seven, so I can totally see her killing him.

Sirius' death was already cheap, imo. It was a terrible way to kill off such a loved character. She doesn't have to bring him back to life, just idk some kind of communication with Harry.

I don't think it was cheap. You see, it wasn't until after I had read the book a few times that I realized how much of a plot device Sirius really was. He was there to be Harry's Catalyst. Do you think Harry would have been ready to accept the prophecy the way he did if he hadn't just lost Sirius? And, in the end, he has to be alone. The final battle with Voldemort has to be done on his own, and Rowling knew that when she first gave Harry his godfather. That's why he had to die, and that's why Dumbledore had to die.
And I don't, personally, want any communication either. Death is a finality and...I don't really know how to put this... these books are the whole world to most kids of this generation. They read comic books where when a character dies, they're back in a few months. They watch cartoons where NO ONE dies. They don't understand the concept of Death. Death itself is something no one seems to take seriously anymore. So, to have a character die, really die, I think it's an important statement. I don't want him to come back, in any way. It would make his death mean so much less.

I don't think a fiction book would change a person's conception of death. The thing is for me, no one in the real world can come back from the dead so I love to see it happen in fiction. And I agree that it happens too often when characters are brought back to life, and that's why I don't want him to be brought back to life, just some kind of communication. Why? They said the same thing in Buffy and every time Buffy needed her friends around. She was always better when they were there and to me that's no different than Harry's situation.
