I was wondering if there are any people on this forum who are not Harry Potter fans? I myself actually am not one...hence the subject of my topic ;D
Anyway, I used to love the series, and I still read the books but I feel the books have really gone down hill. Too many characters are dying, and I am finding the story line sappy, and Harry Potter just plain annoying. I will read the final book, but I do not think I will love the series like I used to.

I personally hate Harry Potter. I read the first two books and thought there complete, well, crap. I just really didn't get why people liked them, they weren't that original and nothing that special, just another wizard book.
The movies I also dislike, they just urk me.
As for Harry, the character. To much happends to him that is just... well stupid. If he hasn't died yet, then they should kick him out of Hogwarts.
I also agree all the deaths are annoying. The author is making the book more hype then anything, by having people wonder who's going to die will force them to buy the book and find out, and I really don't think she deserves all the money she is getting.

I never read the books, lol... I have only seen the second movie, so I guess you can say I'm not particularly a fan either

Amen. You said that well haha. And I agree with J.K. Rowling she is just trying to get people to read. For example, she has already talked about two something which is going to happen in the final book which I cannot reveal for fear of spoilers...just trust me, it's very annoying lol

Haha, oh. My bad. No, I believe stuff happens in the books, but I do not think the stuff that happens is interesting in the least.

Haha, I dunno, J.K. just seems to be in the money. Yes the first book not so much for the money, but she is milking it. 50$ says after the "final" Harry Potter book something like a spin off will be written and released. The Harry Potter books will never end, the money will keep flowing and actual good books will be ignored.
Oh as for the movies, its not that they are BAD. I just dislike the stories and the acting. The special effects are pretty wow. Saying that, I've only seen 1 and the latest one... Goblet of Fire.

Here it is (spoiler): She plans on killing two of the main characters. Don't ask me what she is thinking. Why doesn't she just get a copy right?

JKR doesnt need the money anymore. She has enough to never ever get poor. She already has plans for a seperate series from Harry Potter. Also i believe that the Harry Potter books are actually very good books. The only books where when i read i dont want to stop as i need to know what is coming next in that in my view makes it brilliat writing and storytelling. Yes stuff happens to Harry, thats because its about him and his life.
The movies do have a hint of bad acting but only by Harry Potter himself for me.

They only way a spin-off won't happen if she like blows up the world, even then... Prequels, "missing" story lines in the books... Anything. You can take one of the teachers who has 1 line and create an entire back story for them. Harry Potter, like Star Wars, is never going to die.

I agree the books make me want to keep reading to find out what happens, but in a bad way for me. I find myself just wanting to finish the stupid book so I can find out what crazy thing happened. I know many people enjoy Harry Potter, but I am not one of them. At least, not anymore.

You mean as crazy as a stone demon being awakened to suck the world into hell, or perhaps the mayor of a town becoming a snake, or maybe even a frankenstein looking creature wanting to create a race of people just like himself.

You mean as crazy as a stone demon being awakened to suck the world into hell, or perhaps the mayor of a town becoming a snake, or maybe even a frankenstein looking creature wanting to create a race of people just like himself. . Touche. Anyway, that is totally different. At least, it is for me. I loved Buffy much more because, well it's hard to explain but I'll try: First, Buffy has more grown up characters. Although Harry is starting to get older, I still find him childish and annoying. I find it hard to enjoy a series when I hate the main character. Secondly, Buffy, to me, had a unique story line. Perhaps vampires aren't unique, but I loved the fact that there was a Chosen one, and that she was a girl with enhanced powers. Witchcraft is just stupid to me, and very cliche. Plus, anyone can train to be a witch. There is (usually) only one Slayer, which I also like better. Also in Buffy, Joss did not go crazy and kill a ton of main characters. He did some, but I felt that the deaths that happened were needed for a tasteful storyline. Harry Potter sadly did not achieve that. Now on to Harry Potter. Not only do I not like the witchcraft theme, I get bored of only one villain- Volodmort (sp?). I liked how in Buffy they had many different villains. The Harry Potter storyline seemed to start to be repeating. Good faces evil, good struggles someone dies, yada yada blah blah. Almost every Buffy episode was fresh and new to me, and that is something that Harry Potter also did NOT have. So, in my opinion: Sorry, Harry. Buffy kicks your ass.

What do you mean by anyone can learn witchcraft? Are you talking real life or in harry potter? In Harry Potter not just anyone can learn, you have to be born with the ability. Also how is witchcraft a cliche? Charmed was all about witchcraft yet people seem to love that. In Harry Potter not alot of main characters have been killed at all. Sirius and Dumbledore are the only ones. And im sorry but the deaths of Sirius and Dumbledore got to me alot more than the death of Tara (yawn)
"Good faces evil, good struggles someone dies, yada yada blah blah"
That describes most TV shows and books

And im sorry but the deaths of Sirius and Dumbledore got to me alot more than the death of Tara (yawn) I found Tara's death alot more impacting then Dumbeldores. Everyone knew it was coming, I mean there was no surprise and it was just... poorly worked. As for Tara shocking! And the effect was actually something that effected all the characters and left a big "wow...".

I didnt care enough about Tara for her death to impact me. I saw the impact it had on the rest of the characters but it hd none on me.
People loved Dumbledore and he was seen as an unkillable wizard. And then he was killed by the man he has said is trustworthy throughout the series.

Dumbledore was supposed to be powerful, and yet he did not know that his friend was a traitor. Come on, people! And I'm sorry if Tara's death didn't affect you, but Dumbledore and Sirius should not have died, and I found their deaths very distasteful. "Good faces evil, good struggles someone dies, yada yada blah blah" That describes most TV shows and books Yeah, maybe. But some do it better than others. And why would I waste my time on Harry Potter, when I can watch Buffy which does it very well?

How more justified when the characters of Harry Potter are younger? The thing is Snape may not even be a traiter. But i guess you have to be a fan to know what im talking about Why shouldnt they have died? Also why distasteful, Sirius fell through a curtain. Buffy was "good versus evil, good struggles someone dies" but i wouldnt call it blah blah blah
