Hmm...actually. Check this - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R.A.B. Evidence on the identity of R.A.B. is expected to be released on November 19, 2005, when the Dutch edition of the book is published. In the Dutch translation, the name "Black" is translated as "Zwart", and thus the abbreviation would read R.A.Z. if the character was Regulus Black. Similar name changes exist in other foreign editions and for other charactersGuess we'll have to wait and see.

this thread has been dorment for a while but i wasnt a member back then so i am gonna weigh in with my two cents
i think you are spot on about snape not being evil, i have said this to my friends many times but usually get yelled at for making snape out to not be a murderous fiend
i keep telling them that dumbly is no fool and that he would never ever plead for his life, only for it to be taken for a good cause
anyways any news on that RAB thing with the foreign editions having to change the name

Previously mentioned in an interview,
Melissa suggested to Rowling that R.A.B. could stand for Regulus A. Black.
Rowling replied, "Well, I think that would be, um, a fine guess.".
Melissa then asked, "Forgive me if I'm remembering incorrectly, but was Regulus the one who was murdered by Voldemort?"
Rowling replied, "Well Sirius said he wouldn't have been because he wasn't important enough, remember?"
Then Melissa said, "But that doesn’t have to be true, if [R.A.B.] is writing Voldemort a personal note." And
Rowling replied, "That doesn't necessarily show that Voldemort killed him, personally, but Sirius himself suspected that Regulus got in a little too deep. Like Draco. He was attracted to it, but the reality of what it meant was way too much to handle."
Is it just me or did JK just accidently confirm that R.A.B is Regulus?

Its possible. Or she may be trying to mislead people. I am hoping Regulus is not dead and turns up in the next book. Oh yeah... and Sirius too...

I do think sirius will appear again, i dont believe he is dead, it was such a sudden death and too simple a thing to happen to such an important character.

What do you think about DUmbledore? Do you think he is really dead, and that we've seen the last of him?

No way is Dumbledore dead. He burst into flames like the Phoenix... he will rise again I think. Also NO WAY is Snape a baddie or I am burning my books. Too obvious and Dumbledore does NOT beg for his life. Nu uh.

Absolutely, Dumbledore begging for his life *Hysterical laughter* The two way mirror will be playing an important role apparantly so Sirius may be back in some form or another Is Dumbledore like Obi Wan Kenobi lol "Strike me down i shall rise more powerful than before"

Oh definitely we haven't seen the last of the two way mirror.
I guess you could say Dumbledore is a bit like Obi Wan lol.

I believe Dumbledore and Snape made an unbreakable bond which is why Snape killed Dumbledore.
The bond would have involved, if ever the time arose when Dumbledore must be sacrificed that Snape would have to do it

Yeah, but I still don't believe he's dead. You know how Snape is so good at Occlumeny (is that right), well I think that even though Snape yelled the spell, he actually was thinking something like a counter-spell or something of that sort, so Dubledore didn't really die.
Just one of my "theories".

I think it would be very cruel of JKR to pull such a serious fake death on us, she has always implied that kids can deal with alot more than what they are given credit for and i think Dumbledores death is one of those things.
It is entirely possible that Dumbledore is alive, if it wasnt the killing curse. Fawkes could have caught him on the way down, he may have been able to make himself float down (as harry made himself float onto a school roof).
But i really do think that Dumbledore is dead, at least Harry has a dumbledore portrait to get advice from.
JKR always seems to kill off characters when they have yielded as much information and help as they can lol

Glenn, I'm in denial okay! You're supposed to say "oh you're right, he's not really dead", but instead.. "nope he's dead". Crush my dreams!
But yeah, you're probably right. It's just upsetting, because poor Harry has lost so many people that were the closest to him.. his parents, Sirius, and now Dumbledore.. poor guy.

You should definitely go to www.dumbledoreisnotdead.com It's got loads of theories and things that I think you'd like, if you haven't been to it yet. And as to what happened to his wand.. i'm not sure.. it's another one of those mysteries I guess. It's never mentioned in the book. If you go here: www.dumbledoreisnotdead.com/dumbledoreclues.html, scroll down to number 7, it talks about Dumbledore's wand.

Cool nice one, i heard about this on mugglenet
I going to check it out, though i think he is dead so may not be welcome there lol
Here is another question Potter fans
We know that because Harry saved Wormtails life that Pettigrew has a debt to Harry
Now because Voldemort used the hand of Wormtail, Voldemort will be carrying that debt within his own veins.
There is no way that Voldemort knew of this debt as he would not let Wormtail back to him
What do you think
Also a Horcrux; How about that trophy he earned for services to the school lol, highly unlikely but it is stated "he loves his trophies" simple metaphor or something more?

Hmm, never thought of that debt really. Do you think that if Voldemort knew about the debt, that he'd use it?
And that horcrux thing, some theories are that Hufflepuff's cup, the one Voldemort stole is a horcrux, and/or Nagini. I think Nagini is a definite possibility of being a horcrux.
