Voldemort would have killed Pettigrew if he knew he was in debt to Harry.
Many people speculate that Harry is a horcrux. Accidentally though. His murder of Lily Potter over his body allowed for the horcrux to be created within Harry and also goes in sequence with the Prophecy

Yep. I've heard that too. It would definitely make sense with the prophecy, in order for one to live, the other can't. It'd be a pretty sweet twist.

Are we the only fans Bre lol It would be very strange though if Harry was a horcrux because in order for Voldemort to be destroyed forever, Harry would have to kill himself

Lol, we might be...
Oh yeah.. ouch. That would suck. Well, ya know what, I honestly wouldn't be suprised if that happened. And it ended supposedly "happy" because Harry would end up with all his family. Like his parents, Sirius, and Dumbledore (IF HE'S DEAD REALLY...)

Um. Most definitely not the only fans on KAX!
Remember the locket in the Black house that they couldn't open? I'm sure that was a horcrux. Regulus must have made the switch somehow..
Um. Yeah I spend a lot of time discussing HP with my friends.

Well discuss with us too!!
Yeah, I'm willing to bet my Buffy DVDs, that the locket is a horcrux. And that's a huge price!

hahah yes!
So. Why do we think Jo killed Dumbledore?
My theory is that she pretty much gets rid of a character she hasn't got any more use for - Sirius had done his job, as had Dumbledore. I don't think she'll kill off Remus, he's not really a mentor to Harry - well not as much as Sirius and Dumbledore were. The point is that Harry will need to do this all alone - even his friends can only help him so much. He needs to do this himself.

That is a good point. As much as Dumbledore (coughnotdeadcough) and Sirius helped Harry, and as much as he needed them, this is a task he's going to have to face alone. Just him vs. Voldy. I think the same goes for Voldemort. He has to fight Harry on his own as well. No help, just himself. I think whatever will go on between them, will definitely be exciting!

Definitely exciting! I will cry so hard when I'm done, I know I will. I've been reading HP for half my life!
About Dumbledore not being dead - I'm kinda torn. I think he probably is, but...yeah.
I'm stealing this from dumbledoreisnotdead.com but it's what I was thinking during that whole scene.
"Every other time we've seen the Avada Kedavra performed, the victim simply falls over dead:
He was screaming so loudly that he never heard the words the thing in the chair spoke as it raised a wand. There was a flash of green light, a rushing sound, and Frank Bryce crumbled. He was dead before he hit the floor. (GoF pg 15/19)
From high above his head, he heard a high, cold voice say, "Kill the spare." A swishing noise and a second voice, which screeched the words to the night: "Avada Kedavra!" A blast of green light blazed through Harry's eyelids, and he heard something heavy fall to ground beside him. Cedric was lying spread-eagled on the ground beside him. He was dead. (GoF pg 638/553)
However, in Half-Blood Prince, when Snape curses Dumbledore with the same spell, Dumbledore violently flies up and away from the tower:
Snape raised his wand and pointed it directly at Dumbledore. "Avada Kedavra!" A jet of green light shot from the end of Snape's wand and hit Dumbledore squarely in the chest. Harry's scream of horror never left him; silently he was forced to watch as Dumbledore was blasted into the air. For a split second, he seemed to hang suspended beneath the shining skull, and then he slowly fell backward, like a great rag doll, over the battlements and out of sight. (HBP pg 596/556)
Why would this application of the Avada Kedavra be so different from every other time we've seen it?
It's stupid to think that oh - GREEN LIGHT! = Avada Kedavra. And just because he said AK, doesn't mean he meant it...
However, on the days I'm thinking that Dumbledore is dead, I think that he was asking Snape to kill him. Dumbledore was dying anyway. Therefore Snape isn't evil...

About why the spell was different on Dumbledore, I've heard people say that it's because he's such a powerful wizard, that it would be different on him. But for some reason, I'm not sure that's true.
And I've also heard what you said, that Snape isn't evil for killing Dumbledore. Because when Dumbledore was crying "please" as Snape was holding his wand towards Dumbledore, that dumbledore wasn't saying "please" out of mercy, but "please, do it."

That's true. Remember how the stunning spells kept bouncing off Hagrid? Maybe it's the same thing...though I would think the AK would kill you no matter what.

Ive heard that the reason that Dumbledore has so many middle names is because he keeps getting reborn like a phoenix
Remember he has an affinity with fire such as when he set little Tom Riddle's closet on fire or when he used fire to protect Harry and himself from the water zombies in HBP, even his Patronus takes on the form of a patronus
Something else that makes me think along these lines is that in one of the films he makes such a random comment to Harry. He goes to visit him in his dorm room and says "I never liked these curtains, i set them on fire in my third(?) year, accidentally of course"
Is it possible that Dumbledore is like a pheonix?

That's a very good theory. And it makes sense too. Was the part when Dumbledore says the thing about the curtains in the book as well? I mean even if it wasn't, it could still be a hint because JKR helps out on the movies. But yeah, it could be possible that Dumbledore has phoenix-like qualities. Wow, I hope that's true. Then he wouldn't be "dead" after all!

I don't think so, no... He just has a bunch of names because it's eccentric, like him. But then again, that theory sounds good, so...yeah.

Okay...so......I know this thread is totally old now, but I don't care at all, I'm in Harry Potter overdrive.
I've heard the theory that Dumbledore is a Phoenix, and I can understand where it comes from, but I just don't buy it. I mean...it just feels a lot to me like when Sirius died and we were all like "He'll come back! He has to!"
I think when J.K. Rowling kills a character like that, she means for them to stay dead.

I don't think I believe he actually is a phoenix, but maybe an animagus (is that the right word?) who transforms into a phoenix? And if Dumbledore is dead, I still don't think he's done with helping Harry. He'll find some way to communicate with him or something (I hope). But if Sirius is really dead, I'll scream... lol

He's really dead hun. J.K. Rowling has said he will not be coming back. Period. However, we do know, for a fact, that in the seventh book we'll find out why some people become ghosts when others do not (apparently it's different from what we are told by Sir. Nick). So that may have something to do with Dumbledore.

I started going mad thinking of all the possibilities for any number of things expected in the 7th book. But ive decided not to think about it anymore and just wait to read it lol.

Well, I refuse to read spoilers. Thats why I only read stuff on websites I trust, like Leaky Cauldron and Mugglenet. And anything that gets specific, they usually have warnings on. The great thing, though, is that really aren't any specifics yet. Just random tidbits, which is good. I hate spoilers so hard.
I really need to go back and reread book six I think. It's just so traumitizing that I have a hard time getting through it when I know whats coming.
