Argh! What a poor performance, especially in the second half. This performance showed that we really need a striker. Though in our defense, we were missing about 8 of our first team players!

I hear Man United got beaten by Zenit St.Petersburg. They also beat my team when we played in the Uefa cup final. They also beat us 2-0 .

Yeah, we lost 2-1 - but they were leading 2-0 til the 73rd minute.
Zenit deserved to win. We played like we couldn't be bothered in winning the match. It was only when we got our goal that we looked more alive. Tevez was probably the only player in a United shirt who looked like he wanted to win.
A week break for international duty and then we face Liverpool. I'm nervous. The transfer window is closing and we still haven't bought anyone!

Well, United have bought Berbatov from Spurs. We spent 30 million on him and even loaned out one of our young strikers to them.
Honestly, I'm not happy with it. I don't like Berbatov. He is a good player but I don't like his arrogant attitude. I wouldn't be surprise if he causes us problems in the future. However, I've said from the beginning that we need a striker badly so I guess this is better than nothing. It would be interesting to see him play his first match as it would be against Liverpool.
Nico, Rangers isn't in Europe? Not even in the UEFA Cup?

Scotland only gets 1 Champions League spot and 2 Uefa cup spots, we were Second in the league so we got Uefa cup, Celtic got Champions league and the runners up of the scottish cup got Uefa (that was just added). We got knocked out right away! it was a shock as we expected to see some great football.
Why did United leave it so long to buy anyone? did they sell alot?. Our transfer market closed lastnight, I think the English close a week after us? . Berbatov can hit the back of the net and his goal scoring record is impressive, never seen him off the field though, or read any interviews with him etc;

The English transfer market closes at the same time as you guys (I think it's standard for everyone). We sold a lot of players (especially the youngersters) but hardly bought anyone. Berbatov is one of the two players we bought. The other player is some youngerster I never heard of. We left it till late to buy Berbatov because Spurs wasn't willing to sell him and they wanted a huge some of money for him. Wow I'm surprise. And I didn't know that you guys only get one Champions League spot. I was under the impression that you guys had two.

So lots of football this week, I dont really pay much attention to the English league but I do watch Match of the day, the highlight shows at the weekend and all of he european games, and I happened to catch the Newcastle game, what is going on there? no spirit in that team, some of there tackles were absolutely disgraceful and clearly they meant them to be, looks like a club falling to pieces. Caught most of the Euro games, favourites were probably Arsenal and Liverpool, I hate Liverpool and I hate portsmouth so I didnt really care on the score!. Saw Everton play wasnt a great game but enjoyed watching them get there draw(?) I forget now hmm. (I still think Anelka is like a spare part though )

A massive game for United on Sunday. We play against Chelsea. I'm scared out of my mind about this game. After the disgraceful way we played against Liverpool, I really don't have much hope for this match. But at least Ronaldo is back in the side. So that's one bright spot. I didn't catch that Newcastle game (the one against Hull City right?) but I did see the highlights. Gotta agree with you there. The club is falling to pieces and so are the players. One tackle from a Newcastle player ended up with a Hull City breaking his leg. Saw the tackle and it was horrible!

Caught Match of the day 2 earlier and thought i'd comment on some of the bigger games.
Man U V Chelsea - well i'm not sure what the referee was doing alot of his decisions were very dubious, I thought Chelsea had a very good claim for a penelty, and the referee blowing for fulltime after Chelsea were awarded a freekick outside the Man U box, I mean COME ON any other referee would realise that is an oppertunity, blow the whistle when the balls clear!. Then onto his ridiculous bookings of Man United players, something like 7 of them got yellow cards and they werent even bad tackles, sure they were fouls but a card cmon, Ronaldo was tackled (from behind) and he recieved a yellow card for waving his finger (as a no-no sign) at the ref! . I think Chelsea will be happier with teh score than Man U, who I really thought would have won easily.
Man City were just splendid, and went on a goal frenzy beating portsmouth 6-0. They are now the Richest club in the world!, I cant wait to see how much they spend in January.
How do you rate Man Uniteds start to the season Irene? I saw the table for the first time and was surprised at how low down they were, all be it with a game in hand. I am sure however they will start climbing soon.

We always have a slow start. We pick up pace from Dec onwards. However, I am pretty concerned with our form lately. Ferige has been getting his tactics wrong a lot of the time (like constantly playing Rooney out of position) and it's backfiring. To be fair though, we are having a lot of difficult games back to back (Liverpool, Villareal, Chelsea). We should pick up the pace starting with Bolton. We should be back top by the end of Nov. As for the Chelsea game, I'm quite satisfied with the point. We should have won it. I'm just mad that we allowed Chelsea back in the game by sitting back and defending after scoring only ONE goal. We do all the time! I didn't see the Portmouth-Man City match. But I was shocked when I heard the score. WTH?!

You see this weekends games Irene?. Noticed Rooney scored a goal after forever , shame to see Ronaldo diving hopefully Man U ditch him when the Transfer market opens in January i'm beginning to dislike him more and more, I saw an interview with 3 man United players and they were asked "best football in the world?" the other 2 said Maradona, but of course you could guess who Ronaldo said, the other two looked at him expect a laugh to say he was joking!. Aren't Hull doing a good job? beat (my team) Arsenal 2-1, Daniel Cousin scoring there winner, Rangers just sold him to Hull last transfer market, he scored for us to, he is one of those strikers who get the goals without the fancy crap .

Yup, I saw the game. I'm so glad Rooney scored! It's been a long time coming. I don't think he has been playing all that well lately (Scholes too) so I think the time on the bench did them both good. I don't think Ronaldo dived. The ref just made a wrong decision. You can see from the players reactions and their goal celebrations (even from Ronaldo) that they knew they shouldn't be awarded with the penalty. Shocking decision in my opinion. Hull City is my new favourite team now!

At the start the commentator kept saying "its England V Scotland, 2 biggest teams in the world" and I started thinking that I hope Celtic win and then he shut up so I went back to hoping they lose . I felt rather bad for them, getting two offside goals gave against them , but in the end Rooney was given an Onside goal as Offside and Man United pretty much walked all over Celtic. However I think at Parkhead it will be a totally different game, Celtic missing there 3 big Strikers , they will all be back I dont think they will win though but they certainly will play better. Since I always have a weekly Ronaldo complaint-- I never realised how easy he goes down, even the commentator was saying "the slightest chance of a free kick and he will throw himself to the ground". I am so glad he didn't score, Rooney was the man of the match for me his shots are always on target and although he isnt into all that fancy stuff his runs and the space he finds are amazing!.

One of the thing I hate about Ronaldo is that. That and the fact he expects a free kick given to him whenever he goes down. It's annoying. I'm over him and I wouldn't mind if he leave for Real Madrid next summer. I don't think we would miss him much.
Celtic was too easy for us. But I do feel that it would be a different game when we play them at their home ground. It's a must win game really as we are level on points with Villareal and losing this game would cost us our top spot. We need to win the group to avoid all the big teams in the next round!
Liverpool play Chelsea during the weekend. That would be a good game. I'm hoping for a draw so that way we can catch up to them. We play Everton tomorrow and that would be a tough game.
