I'll be going to see this, I loved the books so I am hoping the movie does it justice.

It is based off an Australian book series. I read them a long time ago. I'll see the movie but I will wait for it to be on dvd.

Yup brilliant series. I don't know if it is being released outside of Australia. I assume it would though.

Some of the cast are from Home & Away and Neighbours. Not sure if they will do the movie absolute justice.

That is Bernie's complaint too, he thinks the acting looks shoddy. I am still going to see it, past H&A and Neighbours have done well after leaving those shows so it might be good anyway.

I'm not a fan of either show (though I have watched Neighbours now and then over the years) but they are one of the only platforms for actors, especially young actors, in this country. And look at who got their start in them: Guy Pearce, Isla Fisher, Chris Hemsworth, Russell Crowe, my beloved Heath. That's two Oscars just there. Caitlin Stasey was alright in Neighbours. And Wally Lewis' son seems alright. I think they will be fine.

I've never read the books so I don't know whether I'll watch it. Always been meaning to read them though. I know my friends are fans of the series so I might go with them if they are going. I'm not too fussed about watching it.

I've always been meaning too as I've heard great things about it but never had the time to go and get it. Might do it during my break.

Just got back. Was a bit worried but i shouldn't have been, they did an excellent job! All the characters were well cast, especially my fave in TWTWB Homer, and they all did well. Nothing major was left out and it all flowed really well. It looks and sounds spectacular and has an awesome Aussie soundtrack. They handled the update to the new millennium swiftly and efficiently. The fact is that even with all the technology we have with the net and mobiles etc we'd still be screwed if shit goes down Really enjoyed it. Will be getting the DVD/BR and i hope enough people see it that they continue on with the series!!

Oh good!! I'm really looking forward to it. My brother is a HUGE fan, so I have to wait for him to come up from Melbourne so we can see it together.
I haven't read it in a couple of years - d'reckon I should re-read?

Nah, you would be fine without reading it again. Unless you would sit there wondering if something happened in the book as you are watching. I would do that I was thinking about it last night and one little thing did annoy me. Ellie and Fi almost completely screwed up the bridge plan by having a chat about Homer and Lee with their walkie talkie off That was a bit disrespectful to the characters I thought.

Saw it tonight and loved it. I also didn't like the convo in the petrol tank, it went against their characters and the timing was off. Meh. Loved the bit about how books are usually better than movies It was well cast imo. I don't remember Chris being a stoner! Maybe that is because I was so young the last time I read them I'll probably see it again, and will get the DVD. Here is hoping they continue the series. Australian movies often look cheap or badly done, this was neither.

I haven't seen anything about it around here. If it is, it'll only be in select theaters in big cities is my guess.

That is a shame, because it really is a great movie. Can you play any region on your DVD player Bre? If so I will send you a copy when it is on DVD
