I'm genuinely concerned about seeing Suffragette. I think it will piss me off so much I won't get any enjoyment out of it at all Amy was good I agree. I really want to see Spotlight. I've been obsessively reading their work for awhile now. Now that's journalism. That's what I wanted to be.

Amy was depressing. Shouldn't have watched it soon after the Kurt Cobain one though. :\

Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief - No surprising information, really, but man, it was very engrossing.

Spotlight - Loved it. IMO one of the best films of the year, of the past couple of years really. Everyone is SO bloody good, but Keaton and Ruffalo deserve a special mention. Man it pisses you off. Knowing what the Catholic church got away with for so damn long. Knowing how many people helped them, were involved. The Spolight team rightly won the Pulitzer for their investigation and series of stories. It was an old school investigation, old school journalism. The film captures it perfectly. There is no sensationalism here, no reenactments or anything. It just follows the team the way through, doing interviews, "pounding the pavement" in Boston, doing research.... and its totally compelling.

I really want to see that!
We rented Love & Mercy the other night. It's really good and Paul Dano's GG nom is totally deserved. I knew nothing of the Beach Boys before, so it was really interesting to learn about Brian Wilson and bits of the family.

That's on my to watch list. Looks interesting, and I've heard very good things about Dano. And Cusack too.

Don't know much about Wilson and his life so it's was an interesting watch.

I'd get upset if it was my Josh, so good luck mate!! He really is fabulous. So is Hardy. He has quite the few years of torture with this and Mad Max!!

Loved Hardy in Mad Max. But seriously, even if this isn't Leo's best, he deserves it for countless roles!

It's up there with his best IMO. Its hardcore.
Hardy is great, he really is. Shocked he hasn't got much award attention this year.

The Martian- Loz you were right, it was fabulous!. I loved this movie. MD was fabulous and the whole movie was put together great. The jokes all hit and had impeccable timing and there were no long boring parts. Definitely goes onto my favourite movies list and MD's naked bum wasn't bad either.
Pan- No wonder this movie was a huge flop. Bad acting, fancy pants CGI that no one cared about. Long and drawn out grasping at straws.

Yeah, Pan is one I'm never going to bother with I don't think! Just looks terrible and you've confirmed it thanks mate!
I need to buy The Martian. It was so great, and I reckon it would come with some fabulous extras bluray wise....

Joy - I'm quite over Jennifer Lawrence, and I think that David O. Russell might need to use some different actors now - but this was quite nice. Solid film. The Danish Girl - Oh dear, I was a bit disappointed in this. Visually it was very pretty, and Eddie Redmayne was great but - he wouldn't stop smiling! every single damn frame is him (I'm using him to refer to the actor, not character) smiling. STOP. Sisters - Amy and Tina obviously have amazing chemistry together, but this wasn't as great as I'd hoped. Trainwreck is better.

Mad Max. I avoided this one because it was creepy but didn't realize what I was missing. Yes, it is absolutely weird and creepy but it was so good!

Mad Max is fabulous. So well made, so well directed. Charlize is hardcore and I love her. Hardy rocks too. Definitely one of the films of the year and deserves all its noms (go Aussies! ).

Spotlight - really good! So frustrating, though. Still don't get the Ruffalo thing. I think the only thing I really liked him in was The Avengers (and that's probably because he was speaking Joss' words). Thought Keaton was really good in it, though. And Liev, of course. Steve Jobs - Man, I love my Fassy. He's so good. Too bad it's Leo's year though. It kind of bothered me that during the first sequence, I didn't notice Kate W's accent but then noticed it in the rest of the film. Just didn't seem fluid. Really surprised Sorkin and Boyle weren't nominated for writing and directing. On to The Martian next!
