From what I've read a lot of people have a big issue with "the twist". That it makes CP's character irredeemable. That you can't get past it. I was really keen to see it because I like them both so much, but once I learned a few things I was turned off. I'll see it one day, but I'm in no hurry. I was completely taken by surprise with the twist and I thought it would lead to something else (him becoming the villain of the movie, etc) but it didn't. So wasted potential there. That led me down.

Hidden Figures - Lovely film. I had no idea about this part of history! Really enjoyed this. Definitely one for little girls too. Very inspiring. I thought all three ladies were marvelous. And Kevin was great too.

The Jungle Book, the live action one. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

Lion.
Maybe I'm older now but I couldn't stop crying at this movie! Grrr.

If Lion doesn't have an effect on you, I think you may be a sociopath Little gorgeous Sunny..... I want to adopt him myself. And how good is my beloved Nicole?!? Dev is wonderful. So proud of that Aussie accent!! Flawless. Excellent film all around. Machester by the Sea- it's an excellent performance from Affleck. Like, really excellent. I don't know if I can separate the offscreen stuff and say I want him to win the golden man, but I can't say he wouldn't deserve it Hedges is fabulous as well. And I can't believe I'm saying it, but Williams is extremely good too. I still hate her and she still killed Heath though. One weird thing. The music. The scene after the fire in the cop shop was without a doubt the most strangely scored scene I can think of in all my years of movie watching. It was just bizarre to me. Anyway, it's worth watching for the performances alone. Patriots Day- this got me a bit I have to admit. The carnage those bombs created.... bloody hell. The initial aftermath scenes are brutal. If the firefight between the older brother (I refuse to use their names) and the cops was as it was presented I can say I had no idea. Far out. No wonder they locked down the city trying to catch the younger scum. Walhberg is Walhberg. Not that that's a bad thing. I like him. Bacon is very good. A decent way to put in a few hours.

I heard Michelle Williams isn't in MbtS for very long; is that true, Loz? I watched The Lobster the other night. Such a weird movie. The concept was interesting, but the last half of the movie was pretty bad. Could have been much better.

Affleck and Hedges are most certainly the leads and it's mostly them. There aren't many scenes without Affleck. Williams pops up here and there, but she has two massive scenes. The one on the poster, and one involving the aforementioned fire. The fire one is the one. Nicole at the dinner table in Lion beats it, and by all reports Viola beats it (Fences is next on my list), but many other years, I would have locked her in for a win.

Fences- Viola has it in the bag. I'm pissed off though. Hers is not a supporting role!! She's the lead!! I get why they do it, it gives them a better chance of winning, but I think it's unfair to the others in the category, and somewhat insulting to the nominee. Anyway, Denzel is excellent too, and it's a really well made film. Always hard to turn a play into a film and not have it look "stagey". It doesn't look it at all.

Manchester By the Sea. Didn't like it. Found it boring actually. And isn't Affleck's role pretty much every other role he has played? Watching Arrival next.

Did you read what I said about it?? Did you notice the music?? I did. I didn't think it was very weird but he uses the same type of music throughout so it felt like a continuation? I don't know. I wasn't paying much attention to the film to be honest.

Fair enough. It wasn't what I would call a thrill ride!

No it wasn't. I don't mind dramatic movies like this but this was quite boring. I guess I expected more conflict between the characters.

Lego Batman.
I found the Lego Movie better but it was still good. A lot of dry humour which I think the adults will enjoy.
