Saw the finale and it was indeed perfect. I'm just so sad I won't be seeing the Taylors on my screen again.
I'm really going to miss this show so much.
I think what made the finale such a perfect ending was that it concentrated on the characters and not on the State game. I'm glad we didn't have half the episode filled with game time. I love how the game was just in the background with everything else. The ep wasn't filled with last minute winning pass, shots of everyone's faces as the balls flies in the air, the celebration from players, etc. We've already seen that in season 1. I like how we only find out whether they won or not in the little flashforward. This show has always been about the characters and I"m glad it ended that way.
The Taylors - great ending for them. I'm glad it was Tami who finally got to pursue her dream job and with Eric following her. They are indeed the best TV couple out there. There will never be anyone like them in TV, I don't think. Those two really made the show and I"m really going to miss them a lot.
Matt and Julie - love that they got engaged. Not a big fan of Julie but they seem right somehow. And I love that my dear Matt got a happy ending. Loved Eric's reaction when Matt asked him for Julie's hand in marriage.
Luke and Becky - Liked that these two made up. I really grew to like Luke a lot over the last two seasons. Becky too. A bit surprised that Luke went to the army as well. Not surprised that he didn't get any offers from schools as during the last few eps, it seemed that he was unlikely to get any. But him going to the army was a little bit confusing. I half expected him to take over his Dad's farm!
Tim - wasn't exactly too thrilled with the whole Tim/Tyra storyline. I felt that story ended ages ago so a bit confused as to why it was revisited. But glad they didn't settle down with each other or anything and was left for us to decide whether or not they'll be together. I'm going to say no. Sooo glad Tim got a nice, happy ending and not him ending up in jail again or being drunk. Like that he started building his house and it looked like it's the start of him building a nice life for himself.
Disappointed there wasn't much of Landry. Where was the Landry/Tyra reunion? And no Lyla or Smash? Shame. Would love to know where they have ended up.
My favourite quote has to be the one from Coach to Vince: "Coach Taylor: You may never know how proud I am of you." That line made me cry. Those two really have the best Coach/Player relationship on the show.
