Interesting that you should bring up the "suicide missions" thing, Glenn. What makes these more inspiring than any other story where the hero has to go on a suicide mission to save everyone?

Well i didnt say that they were more inspiring than any other film about suicide missions But ok, i would say because you can distance yourself from reality while watching. If you watch a true story about suicide missions i dont think you can enjoy the film as much, because you know that someone really went through that but with LotR it is fantasy. Plus the storyline is far better than any other movie

To me they're more inspiring because I cared more for these characters than I have most other characters who go through w/ suicide missions. It's not only the actions they take, but because the characters are written so you care for them, the story becomes more inspiring to me. And Allan no one story can be completely original. Everyone gets their ideas from somewhere. And Tolkien did start a whole new realm of fantasy stories. I'm sure there are plenty of comic book writers who get their inspiration from his stories and you probably feel inspired by some of those. I mean if you don't like the movies, you don't like the movies. But you're crazy, then.

Oh, I wasn't meaning to pick a fight over the "inspiring" thing... I was just interested to see why you guys found it so inspiring (since, well, I didn't). And I wasn't meaning to knock the lack of originality. Granted, much fantasy is very similar, and that's fine with me. I'm perfectly aware that inspiration breeds, and nothing can be fully original. And I never said that I didn't like the movies - they're perfectly enjoyable. I just didn't love them!

What were they talking about "prequel to LotR"?

No not really. But yeah if anyone should do any sort of Tolkien project, it should definitely be PJ.

Is the WETA workshop connected to PJ or are they a seperate company. Because no one else but Richard Taylor and the gang could replicate the feel of Middle Earth.

They're separate. They did Chronicles of Narnia and a few others so yeah they're separate. But I agree, they all have the feel of the look now and only they should translate the look onto screen.

Yeah I've heard the whole "they should have just flown on the eagles" thing. But we wouldn't have had such a great story!

Is that in the special features? I think they have hidden easter eggs in the DVDs with a few skits like that.

Yeah I know that, but I'm pretty sure they have that hidden in the EE somewhere. I'll have to look for it or google it.
