Juno! Very funny, and very sweet. Michael Cera and Ellen Page are hilarious.

I'm going to recommend Sunshine. It's a great, subtle sci-fi movie, and it manages to give you a feeling of wonder. Something we don't see enough of these days.

Allan! You've already recommended Sunshine! *points to previous page* Spammer! I'm going to second Liz's Juno recommendation. It's the best movie I've seen in 2008. If you liked Little Miss Sunshine, you would like Juno. The humour is similar and it's such a touching movie. Great performance by all the actors too.

Allan! You've already recommended Sunshine! *points to previous page* Spammer! Oops. I thought I'd mentioned it in a different thread. Guess I must really like it. I'll add Planet Terror to the recommendations, though. Robert Rodiguez's half of Grindhouse is brilliant, if you want an over the top b-grade horror movie. I thought it surpassed Death Proof by miles.

I went to see Sunshine at the cinemas and thought it was awful. It worked well as a tense drama but then they brought crazy sunshine man into it and it turned ridiculous. Just the fact they were on a death mission worked well, there was no need for a pyscho killer who should have been long dead I would recommend Death at a Funeral. Funny British comedy that has Alan Tudyk in.

That movie is *still* on at the movies here - it's been on since about September! Ridiculous.

Why is it ridiculous? Its a a funny movie. I laughed a lot when i saw it. Its one of those films that has excellent word of mouth and seems to have people going back a couple of times. I know a friend of mine who has seen it three times.

Because...that's a very long time for a movie like that to be at the cinemas, I think.

Films will play as long as they have an audience Liz.

It comes down to money. As long as it continues to make that money, they'll keep screening it. I went to see Sunshine at the cinemas and thought it was awful. It worked well as a tense drama but then they brought crazy sunshine man into it and it turned ridiculous. Just the fact they were on a death mission worked well, there was no need for a pyscho killer who should have been long dead That was a definite change of pace, but I thought it worked for the claustrophobic feel of the movie. It did seem to come out from the left of centre, but I still think that as a whole, it worked for the movie.

Films will play as long as they have an audience Liz. I know, but I guess I didn't expect a movie like that to play for so long. It's good though, because then more people will see it.

Ahem. No one had anything to recommend since then? Movies from last year and this year that I would recommend - looking through the Wiki page - Sunshine Cleaning - Adventureland - Up - Away We Go - The Proposal - HP6 - (500) Days of Summer - Adam - Julie and Julia - Whip It - Zombieland - An Education - The Princess and the Frog - Up in the Air - Kick-Ass - Toy Story 3

Definitely rent first. I liked it, but not enough to buy.

Ugh Kick Ass sucked. I couldn't stand one character in the whole movie! I recommend Scott Pilgrim v The World! I wanna go see it again in theaters!

Have you seen all of those Liz? I wouldn't mind seeing Kick Ass though I expect it to be dumb, Princess and the Frog was ok, Toy Story 3 was great, but the others I have no interest in.

Obviously some are better than others, but those are some of the ones I enjoyed last year. I haven't like too many movies this year, which is disappointing. Admittedly, I have seen less, so that's probably why.
