Come on! Liam Neeson was awesome as Qui Gon!! I admit it wasn't the best, but you hated it? How could you hate something created by Lucas?
I agree. The acting could have been 100 times better, but what can you do? Ewan McGregor was awesome, but Natalie Portman sucked. I like her, but not it that. And I think George Lucas sucks at writing lvoe stories lol.

Liam Neeson was indeed awesome as Qui Gon. But he alone could not save that disaster. I did hate it. I had looked forward to its release with awe, and then I was shattered by how it did not come close to realising my expectations of it. It was a sad day.

I guess if you had your hopes up that would have been a let down. But I wasn't a hard core SW fan then, so I couldn't say I was disappointed.

Sorry about the double post....
Really? You didn't like the Phantom Menace? I like that one better than the Attack of the Clones. AotC seemed like it dragged (?) out a little...

I found young anakin annoying. And far too much Jar Jar Binks. Liam Neeson was the best part of the movie and I was NOT happy when he died! I didn't hate Phantom Menace though. I liked Clones better, sure it dragged out a little but I liked it.

I agree that little Ani was a little annoying and Jar Jar was kind of a "different" character. And I was pissed when Qui Gon died too. He was awesome. *tear*

Attack of the Clones was lame, but marginly better than Phantom Menace. I concede that Liam Neeson was good as Qui Gon, but one good actor can not make up for the mess of the rest of the movie.

Since I just saw Revenge of the Sith for the third time the other night I will finally reply.
I think the movie as a whole was very good and far superior to the other prequels. The action was great and I didn't feel like the movie was dragged on at all.
I agree the dialouge was generally crappy-can't he learn to hire a decent screenwriter? As for the acting, Ewan was once again fantastic as Obi-Wan and Ian McDiarmid once again played Palpatine and the Emperor very well. I think someone mentioned about how his voice changed-I noticed that too and thought it was a great touch. Whoever played Bail Organa (the name is escaping me at the moment) was good as well.
I actually felt bad for Anakin in this one (for the most part) and I love that because it makes you feel bad for him just in time for him turn. I think that's a great touch.
The Yoda/Emperor duel and the Obi-Wan/Anakin duel were definitly superb. When Anakin is dying and Obi-Wan is watching and speaking to him...saying he loves him and how he was suppossed to destroy the Sith...that part is really sad. The emotion in that scene is really high. Nice touch with Obi-Wan picking up Anakin's lightsaber.
I also loved Obi-Wan vs General Grievous and afterwards when he tosses the blaster away and says, "So uncivilized" an obvious reference to an Obi-Wan quote in A New Hope.
I didn't like how they made Obi-Wan look so weak in the fight aganist Count Dooku. That bothered me because Obi-Wan is suppossed to be really powerful and shouldn't be beaten so easily. I mean we see him kill Darth Maul in Phantom Menace (when he is only a Padawan) kill Grievous, beat Anakin and is one of the only surviving Jedi after everything is said and done. And having Anakin say he saved Obi-Wan's life 10 times...it just doesn't fit with his character.
Oh god! When the temple is being attacked and Anakin walks into the room with the kids and the one says, "Master Skywalker there are too many of them what are we going to do?" and Anakin ignites his lightsaber...though you don't see anything after that it's still intense.
Other great touches: the army of wookies, Chewy's presence, the young Padawan saving Bail Organa and then being killed, the appearance of the Rebel ship, the overseeing of the building of the Death Star, Anakin being being mediaclly worked on in the end, how you see the mask coming down as if you're in Anakin's place-insinuating that he's trapped in there
I didn't like any of the love scenes and was pleased that there weren't as many. I did, however, think the scene between Anakin and Padme when Padme finally realizes he's turned was pretty sad--could have been better, but still sad.
Hated Vader screaming "No!" That just didn't work.
The continued loss of lightsabers bothers me.
All around I think it was really good. It lived up to the title of Star Wars.
Also-Obi-Wan kicks ass!
EDIT: Though I did not like The Phantom Menace it wasn't horrible. The lightsaber fights were good, as was the pod race and I liked seeing the Council (even though that was a boring scene) Qui-Gon was cool and I loved seeing young Obi-Wan. Darth Maul was a good bad guy and I liked the two sided lightsaber. I think Jar Jar and too much talk is what really brought it down, but if you think about it a lot of the talking was neccessary to explain what the hell is going on. It's the Old Republic, the Jedi Order prior to it's destruction--things we didn't know about that had to be explained. Tattoine was dragged out, though.
Also, I found it impossible to vote for a favorite. I just...can't. And really it's all one story...I guess that's just an excuse. But I can't choose between 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Again-Obi-Wan kicks ass!

Yes, I know this is a double post, but since no one has added anything and I wanted to say something else, I'm hoping I won't get yelled at. The other night there was nothing on and I watched the second half of ROTS again. I have some things to add to my list of good things about it. -I like how you see how the Emperor's face got deformed. -Anakin's yellow eyes were definitly creepy and a great touch -All of the worlds (I can't spell any of them and I won't even try) were beautifully done and not over the top. -Though this is minor, I like how you see C3PO and R2D2 being given to Captain Antilles -When Obi-Wan jumps down behind General Grievous and in between thousands of droids and just says, "Hello there." For some reason I find that great and it's such an Obi-Wan thing to do, too! -Obi-Wan and Anakin's last talk before Obi-Wan leaves to confront Grievous. Anakin finally shows some modesty and appreciation for Obi-Wan. I liked that. Just in time for him to turn, too. -Almost none of the effects were overdone or unneccessary. In the other two prequels there were times when I thought a certain effect just was not needed. I never felt that way watching ROTS. -There are a lot of times where there are direct references to the Original Trilogy--most I have already mentioned (rebel ship, Captain Antilles, "So uncivilized" etc.) I would like to pose the question of whether or not anyone else felt bad for Anakin in this one, because I certainly did. Which is strange because I had never really felt bad for him before. And I loved that I felt bad for him because I feel that way just in time for him to turn to the Dark Side and I find that great. I think I already mentioned that, though. The more I see it, the more I like it. If I watch it again I can probably pick out some other things I like.

Well i agree with everything in your last post. I really enjoyed Revenge of the Sith. I wasn't a fan of the ending though, how Natalie Portmans character dies It was silly. I did feel sorry for Anakin in this one, at times. Mostly I wanted to yell at him "YOU IDIOT!! DONT DO IT!" even though I knew he was going to the dark side. Nice twist that it was his own actions that led to his dreams of his wife (cant think of her name) dying coming true. I cringed in the final battle scene with Obi Wan and Anakin - so very very hard to watch. Obi Wan leaving him to die like that was terrible, his character should have had more mercy and killed him instead of leaving him to suffer, but they couldnt really have Anakin die or the original trilogy would be no more

I hear what you're saying about Obi-Wan leaving Anakin to die, but I really thought that by that time Obi-Wan was just so emotionally tired and just couldn't deal the final blow.
The way Padme dies was weird, I agree there. I was under the impression that she wouldn't die because of Luke asking Leia about her real mother in Return of the Jedi.
Who didn't want to yell at Anakin? I always did!
I still find it so crushing that when Anakin is finally showing real respect and love for Obi-Wan it is just before he turns. I wasn't expecting Anakin to want Obi-Wan to join him, though. And even though I knew Obi-Wan would refuse it kind of made me a little happy that Anakin didn't really want to kill him:
Anakin: Don't make me kill you!
It was nice to finally see someone reply to my posts, Beck!! Now, you have me wanting to say more! And now I want to watch it...maybe I'll go do that...

lol Lexie, I was reading old threads including this one, and a debate was actually going so I thought I'd respond to your points too. We obviously have some big fans on here.
I get that Obi-Wan was tired, but I think that in part he wanted Anakin to suffer. He was heart-broken that Anakin had turned, since he believed he was the chosen one. Anakin had betrayed him, and betrayed his beliefs. I think by that point, Obi-Wan was feeling some hate himself.

just think off all the trouble he could of avoided if he had just killed him, i know it would of been bad story telling but surely obi wan knew what anikin did to all the young jedi's, i hated it at the end when yoda told obi wan that he had descovered a way to talk to his old master it seemed like they were trying to tie up as many loose ends as possible.
and what annoyed me the most is when they named the babies at the end, imagine all the kids who havent seen the originals and were waiting to watch the new ones first, now the major twist of luke i am your father is totally ruined, bad story telling. and my favorite is the empire strikes back, han solo is my favorite character "no suprise there"

just think off all the trouble he could of avoided if he had just killed him, i know it would of been bad story telling but surely obi wan knew what anikin did to all the young jedi's, Obi-Wan did know. He watched the recording, remember? As I said before, I think Obi-Wan was so emotionally exhausted by then that he couldn't make himself deal the final blow to a man he considered his brother--someone he loved. Yeah, it would have avoided a lot of trouble, but Obi-Wan didn't think it was possible for someone to survive that. Plus, you can't exactly have 4, 5 and 6 without Darth Vader. I didn't like that, either. I thought it was weird, but I didn't think it was tying up loose ends. There was no need at all to have Qui-Gon mentioned. He's dead. End of story. When I think about it, that is stupid, but I guess Lucas was assumming that if you're watching it you know Anakin is Luke's father. I think it's a pretty well-known fact. I personally think the Original trilogy should be viewed before the prequel trilogy and I had my little brothers watch it first, so they already knew. Han Solo is great, but for me Obi-Wan will always be the best.

The fact that Luke's father is mentioned in the original trilogy both as fighting with Obi-Won in the clone wars and being a jedi, and having the same surname would have given it away even if the kids hadnt been named
