Yeah...as I said, it's pretty much common knowledge now. Which is unfortunate since it was such a big shocker when people saw it the first time.

I wrote this in another post in a different thread, but I'll say it again.
Lately I have been completely seperating the Prequels and the Originals--considering them two seperate trilogies instead of 6 movies creating one story. I just find the two trilogies so different (besides the quality of the films)
1. Simple first: They take place about 20 years apart 2. In the Classic trilogy The Empire rules, instead of the bad guys in the background the good guys are in the background 3. Luke is a way better hero than Anakin 4. Aside from ROTS, the Originals are darker 5. The Jedi are practically extinct in the Classic trilogy 6. The Classic trilogy deals with a lot of self-discovery--not only with Luke, but I think Han as well
There's probably more, but I'm a little tired at the moment
Anyone agree?

My favorite Star Wars movie is Episode II. I like Episode III a lot, also, but it's just so sad it depresses me for a few days after I see it. Also, this is kinda random, but I really wanted the end of Episode III to be the Darth Vader helmet being lowered onto Anakin's head. Then like as soon as he's all suited up, it goes to black and you hear Darth Vader breathe for the first time... That's how I wanted Episode III to end. I don't know, Lexie, I disagree that Luke is a better hero than Anakin. I liked Anakin's role as the tragic hero. Luke always seemed to me like a whiny brat.

Luke was a better hero because Anakin went evil. But I did like Ani's character better than Luke's. Luke kind of bugged me. You're also the first person I've talked to who said episode II was their favorite.

That's not fair, Bre! Anakin came back from being evil! And Luke definitely annoyed me as well.

Lately I have been completely seperating the Prequels and the Originals--considering them two seperate trilogies instead of 6 movies creating one story. I just find the two trilogies so different (besides the quality of the films) Yeah this makes no sense to me at all sorry They are part of the same universe, and even involve some of the same characters. They deal with the same main villains, and the heroes are father and son. There is no way these movies can be seen as anything but a continuation of the same story. Yeah...so? Same universe, same characters in a lot of cases, just how they are 20 years later, now instead of just Anakin's story it becomes the story of his son and concludes Anakin's own story. Same story continued 20 years later. This is because the Empire came to power during the last of the prequels. They are in power because of what happens in the prequels, this is related. Its the story of how the Empire came to power. Same story continued later. If you want to look at it that way its two halves to the one story - the rise and fall of the Empire. Relevance? Thats also just opinion. Again, relevance? Of course things were happier and lighter when the Empire wasn't in power, so obviously it will be darker in that part of the story. Yet you don't separate Return of the Sith because its darker. Again, because of what happened to them in the prequels. And the prequels weren't with Anakin and Obi Wan? The two trilogies are two halves of the same story, I don't see how they are in any way separate from each other.

Um... yeah Lexie sorry but I can't see them as seperate trilogies either, its all one big story it just has a break in the middle of it I also found Luke whiny but my main problem with Luke is the actor aging so badly between movies I dont know if I prefer Anakin or Luke - however no one beats Han or Obi-Wan ;D Those are the two real heroes

It would be like seperating LotR from The Hobbit If they are in the same universe then they are connected. Luke was rather annoying but he still made me care for his cause which was the important thing

My favorite movie was Revenge of Sith. It was extremely sad, but I believe it was the best overall one. I didn't really like the last three because I hated Luke, and the first two were mostly setting up the story.
The third one was when so many big twists happened- making all the movies what they were.

No way in hell is Revenge of the Sith the best overall. Its the best of Eps I, II and III but thats not saying much.
IV, V and VI are far superior (though all connected sorry Lexie, no idea what you're on about there). Empire is close to perfect in my opinion. I've been watching it since i can remember and i love everything about it. And i have no problem with Luke. Yes he's a little whiny early on but he grew up. He is a great character and like Glenn said i definitely cared about him and his cause.

Well, I was never too crazy about the last three, partly because I hated Luke so much. I loved Revenge of the Sith because of its twists- and I loved the first three (better than the last three), so being the best of those three is still saying a lot imo.

Makes sense i guess. My little cousins like the first three better too. Different generations want different things from films i suppose.

Yeah, I guess so. The first three really kept my attention- especially the Third one, hence my vote.

The originals didn't keep your attention? Are you serious?

Not as much as the first three . I just didn't think the originals had quite the same type of twists.

Did you watch the originals first? Some of the twists in it would be ruined if you saw the prequels first. The newer ones don't come close to being as good as the originals. The storyline, and the acting were much better. You have no taste

Okay...so I was in a mood when I posted. I was feeling very anti-Prequels and decided they should be pushed aside. No one says I have to be mature 24/7 Yeah...it's all one story...all connected... Anyway, what's with the Luke hate? He's not my favorite, but I don't think he's that bad. I have to say I'm shocked anyone could enjoy the Prequels more than the Classic trilogy. Aside from ROTS, I think the prequels are a big dissapointment.

Of course they are. But I've found that kids like them better. Lots of flash and bang. And they don't seem to care that a lot of the acting is dodgy, that parts don't quite make sense or add up, that some of the characters are paperthin and that there is a fair bit of dialogue that makes you laugh when its really not meant too

I recognize that some of the acting is dodgy but so is a lot in Buffy and I still love it. Emotion-wise Revenge of the Sith hit me the most. I knew what was going to happen because of seeing episodes IV V and VI, but it still had the most affect on me. I like all of the sequels better than the first two prequels but RotS is my favorite. Plus Lucas' dialog was never that great, even in the sequels. What parts didn't make sense or add up to you, Loz?

The storyline, and the acting were much better. You have no taste No, I saw the originals first. The twist of Darth Vader being Anakin's father was the biggest, but I honestly don't remember how I reacted. I reacted much more in the prequels twists- even though I knew what would happen, the twists were how it happened. And I thought the acting was not very good at all in the originals. Luke's acting was very corny imo. I loved Anakin's acting much more. And the storyline? Wow, I found the first three's storyline amazing! I never knew how all the Jedi almost disappeared in the last three, and the prequels showed it beautifully imo. I don't know, I just loved the first three more .
