Ok, Beck you do have a point there. True, it was hurting Dawn that stopped her. Ok, let me rephrase this: Willow and Tara were perfect for each other S4,5. In S6 things started going downhill.
I'd have to agree with Bre also. The relationship was working-until she was shot.

I don't think they were perfect for each other. They weren't bad for each other, but had they been in a good relationship it would have been more equal and Willow always seemed in "charge" with Tara following her around. That actually changed in season 6, good for Tara. But in finding her voice, Tara left Willow at her greatest time of need. NO ONE should do that to someone they love, she knew Willow needed help and she left her. That quite frankly dropped my overall opinion of Tara dramatically. I know Willow hurt Tara, but Tara knew Willow had an addiction and it was the magick that was the problem.
They had one night together again before she was shot. How was that working again? It may have done, yes, but that wasn't shown because they had only just gotten back together. And it only could have worked because Willow was doing well without the magick - no thanks to her love, because Tara wasn't around to help with that.

If you look at Seeing Red Willow and Tara are fine. They got back togather and Willow was doing good with magic.

Yes hun, but they got together the night before. It was the morning after their reuinion she was shot. One night back together is NOT long enough to tell how well Willow would do with her magicks. And she was only better with the magicks because of her friends helping her, NOT because of Tara. Tara left.

I don't think they were perfect for each other. But you think her and Oz were? What about their relationship made it so special? Sure he was sweet, but so was Tara.

I think they brought out the best in each other. I don't think Tara brought out the best in Willow, thought perhaps Willow helped Tara a lot. I don't believe Oz would have stood back and let Willow become so dependant on magicks and he would NEVER have abandoned her at the height of her addiction. Perfect for each other? Who knows. But he was better for her than Tara, who let Willow get away with anything. And you didn't answer any of my points above

Oh I liked Tara better than Oz. There. But how can you be so sure Oz would have done it any different than Tara did?

Yea! We dont have any actual proof what Oz would have done? ?

I can't be sure :dunno: But it is not in Oz's nature to walk away when the going gets tough. Look at Wishverse Oz, he fought to the very end. Look at Oz in Choices when he destroys the means to destroy the box of gavrok. He had passion, something Tara sorely lacked. He was very understated in the way he went about things, but he would have done anything for Willow, even taking himself out of the equation to prevent her having to choose between him and Tara. Oz had more inner strength than Tara and imo would have stayed to help her, no matter what.

The fact is that Tara left Willow because it was the easy way out. It was easier to leave and put Willow's problems out of sight, rather than stick with her and help her get through it.
To me, despite Willow's actions, it was betrayal.
And yes, I know that Willow also managed to betray Tara...

Seriously? Look what Oz did ... TWICE. He left when the going got tough with the whole Veruca thing. He was dealing w/ the werewolf thing just fine before that, but then she came along and he had to leave. And when Willow and Tara got together Oz couldn't be around it, so he left.

Oz left because he needed to understand his werewolf half better, he was scared of hurting her again. I think that was the right thing to do, he did not leave because the going got tough. He had a very real problem that he wanted answers for, needed answers for. He couldn't find those in Sunnydale. He left again because he wanted Willow happy, and he realised he still didn't have control of his werewolf side and nearly hurt people. That was entirely selfless and done for Willow.

Oz left because he was scared of what the Werewolf within him would do. He left to get it under control, because the last thing he wanted to do was hurt Willow.
Tara left because she didn't want to see Willow hurt herself.

but he would have done anything for Willow, even taking himself out of the equation to prevent her having to choose between him and Tara.. Yea, but if we go back to New Moon Rising (wich i watched the other day), Tara was ready to be out as well. She thought Willow would chose Oz, but she wasnt mad or anything. I'm just sayin that both Tara and Oz were ready to be out of the picture for Willow. (Tara said she would always be there for Willow-even if she chose Oz.

Just as Oz would have been as well. I haven't said anywhere that Tara didn't love Willow as well. But as Allan said, Tara betrayed Willow by leaving her when she needed her the most, and then coming back into her life after Willow had gotten through her addiction. (until she relapsed of course)

Yeah, to me, Tara just chose the easy way out.

Tara left because she didn't want to see Willow hurt herself. Do you really blame her? She told Wil over and over again, if she kept up with the magic, it was over. But obviously Willow didn't care enough about the relationship to stop or to even try ... she just resorted to magic. I don't think Tara was the weak one of the relationship.

Willow was weak because of her addiction. Addicts don't see that they have a problem and find it hard to overcome even when they realise they need help. Tara should have stuck by her and helped her through it.
But my issue with Tara and her relationship with Willow is that it was boring.

Actually yes, I do blame Tara. What would you do if someone you loved was struggling so much with something you knew was going to hurt them more and more? Would you just leave them to get worse? Hell no. It wasn't that Willow didn't care, like Shaun said, she didn't see that she had a problem. She promised Tara she would give up and then didn't - a common trait in drug addicts too. Tara leaving was very wrong of her, especially since she saunters back in as soon as she sees the problem is more or less fixed!

Sure she made a mistake, but that does not mean she loved Willow any less than Oz did. And I think she made Willow a better person, and that's what matters in a relationship. She had hard times (very hard times) but she still was a better person for it after the relationship, and that's what matters. Oz didn't make her any different than she was in high school. He was boring, made Willow boring, and I just didn't see as much emotion between them than I did with Tara and Willow. They were the better couple of the two for the show, imo.
