this may not go down to well with you lot, but after watching a few old eps i have to say that i found Oz pretty boring too. fair enough he was a werewolf and he had some good one liners but he was only there to develope willows character, he was never really part of the group and i just found him really dull

I quite like Oz, Paul, but I can understand where you're coming from with him.
And even when he was a "regular", he missed quite a few episodes (due to Seth Green's other commitments), which did limit the potential to explore him further.

I guess with Oz, it depends on how you see his personality trait, his laid back, lack of emotion style, to some would be boring, to others would be cool, Especially since emotions and reactions is the main reason we dislike specific characters, Oz rarely showing emotion, and when he does showing little emotion and not reacting like buffy or the rest of the scoobies, makes it hard to dislike him, or find a flaw in his character.
Or atleast thats my thinking

Good points, Nico.
Oz's lack of overt emotion is exactly why I liked him. He was so mellow, the perfect match to Willow. He was so quirky!

Yep thats what I mean, with Oz is seems to be less about him, more of how you interpret his personality, and I think also how at ease you are with it, some people cant be around people that rarely talk/react. Personally I loved Oz, I agree he was a prefect match for willows quirky'ness

If Oz was boring then what the heck was Tara The fact that he could deliver the one liners amazingly is what makes him a great character. Unlike Tara who had a great opportunity to make us laugh but i think failed miserably with the.... Tara: People do strange things when someone they love dies. When I lost my mother, I did some pretty dumb stuff, like lying to my family and staying out all night. Anya: Buffy's boinking Spike. (Tara looks perplexed.) Willow: Oh... well Ta-Tara's right, grief can be powerful and we shouldn't judge— Tara: Are you kidding? She's nuts! Good on paper but notwell executed. Imagine Oz having to deliver that line. He would have nailed it.

That's a great point. A lot of Tara's boringness lies with Amber Benson's delivery.

It's totally her voice. So monotone!

I think Amber can do alot better, I've seen her (not in person ) away from buffy and she is alot more interesting, fair enough she is obviously playing a character on buffy, but I dont think she deliverd as good as she can.

That's a great point. A lot of Tara's boringness lies with Amber Benson's delivery. I agree. And if it was Seth Green saying all those lines, he would have done a much better job of it. She was alright in season 4 but from season 5 onwards, I just got really bored of her. Maybe it's because we see very little of her in season 4.

I think Anya has become my least favourite regular character, not including Tara. She doesn't make me laugh the way Bitch Cordelia used to and her ways just plain annoy me rather than amuse me.

I love how quirky Anya is. You just gotta remember that she's a 1,143 year old ex-demon, so of course she's a bit strange. She interacted well with the other characters and was a good partner for Xander.

Interestingly Anya was always like that even when she was first human. It's indicated she didn't really fit in then either.

Yeah, so that combined with the fact that she's really only just become human again gives her a reason to be a bit odd.
She died to save others and that's definitely a sign of her strong character.

What I love is how Anya came full circle between seasons 3 and 7. At the end of season 3, she ran to save herself - there was no way she was fighting. Throughout her time in the show, she had her ups and downs, and finally reached a place where she was willing to do so.
It was a great character arc.

Yeah, I didn't like Anya at first. I mean, she was funny and I didn't hate her, but she didn't really do much for me. But as we saw her come around that circle and grow and everything it felt like you came ot understand her a bit more and grew to like her. Now when I rewatch the episodes I enjoy her part a lot more.

I loved Anya. I don't think I ever found her bluntess annoying. It was rather refreshing. And if it were any other actress I don't think it could have been pulled off. It's not so much what she said, but how she said it.

I never hated Anya, but my appreciation for her grew. As for a different actress in the role, it's difficult to imagine. I think the character would probably have been developed in a very different way.

Anya was a great character. I don't think I ever hated her, either. I loved how she didn't know much about the human world, and how she learned. And by learning, that developed her character into something even better.
