A ring or a cup cant be evil because they are inanimate objects, but the transference to another human being would have different consequences.

Well that depends on the person, doesn't it? I mean, Ginny was being possessed by Voldemort, but she wasn't evil when he left her. And this isn't as powerful as that. Not to mention that he has the protection given to him by his mother's death. And besides, how else do you explain the link between them? The fact that they see into each other's minds and that Harry can speak parseltongue? EDIT: I thought you guys would be interested to know that since it's officially the 22nd in England, it's now Percy Weasly's birthday. So...happy birthday to the most pompus, annoying, and yet still loved son of the Weasley tribe!

That's what basically won me over. And I wouldn't be disappointed if Harry died. All of you are saying that Dumbledore and Sirius are really dead, so if Harry died he'd be with them and his parents. So I don't see it as a total loss .. except of course to the living world.
And happy belated brithday Percy!

I'ts still his birthday! The 22nd is his birthday, so, for us here in the US, it's only been going for two and a half hours.

There's one in every family. I was surprised that he didn't even try to rebuild the burnt bridge in book six though. I really thought he would. Particularly since he probably sees his dad at work almost every day.

I think it will all be tied up in the seventh book. I really want the Weasley family to be a whole again. And, if Harry survives, he could stay with them! It would be great.

Random observation: Why is there no wizarding equivelent to Google?
The trio spend a good chunk of the first book looking through the library for Nicholas Flamel. I type his name into google and I get a million different pages all about him in the books, him in history, the meaning of his name, other people named Nicholas who talked about their dog Flamel...you name it!
You'd think the wizards would have something like that. And something faster than owls for talking to people. They need cell phones!

Well you would think when it came to Flamel that at least Hermione could have checked on line as she went home for Christmas whereas Ron and Harry stayed in a no electricity environment lol.
I was thinking about Harry being a horcrux. Would that mean that Harry would have to eventually commit suicide in order to finally destroy him. Because unless they both actually kill each other in the final battle which i would actually find quite unoriginal, Harry would have to kill himself to rid us of Voldy. Surely JKR wouldn't have suicide in her book, even for 'the greater good'. Also Voldemort must be unaware about Harry being a Horcrux because he tried to kill him at the end of Book four in the graveyard. And with no assurances about his other horcruxes that was a risky maneuver

Lately I have been on the fence about Harry being a horcrux. There is a lot of evidence that says he could be and a lot that says he isn't. I'm having a tough time deciding.
Didn't Voldemort split himself before he went after Harry? If that's true then Harry couldn't be a Horcrux. However, he could have accidently split himself further when he attacked Harry.
If Harry is a horcrux Voldemort is definitly not aware of it. When he tried to kill Harry at the end of the fourth book he wasn't aware of their strong connection, but once he was aware he still tried to kill him(at the end of the fifth.)
Harry is tied to Voldemort in some way. They're connection is obviously very strong...even if Harry isn't a Horcrux he still might have to die to rid the world of Voldemort.
On to something else...
I actually think the seventh book isn't going to be the last one. There is no way JKR could cram eveything that needs to be done into one book. Does anyone else agree there?

She has said no more Harry after this book. Only an encyclapedia

Yeah there won't be another HP book after this one. I don't think JKR wants to write anymore and risk taking the series past Harry being a teen and having him change and grow too much. And drag it out too much like some series tend to do.

Oh, I didn't know that.
It seems like a lot to do in one book, though, doesn't it? They have to find and destroy all the horcruxes and have the final battle. Well, I trust JKR will be able to do it!

Yep, which means it'll be a really long book! So very exciting! She has said no more Harry after this book. Only an encyclapedia Rowling's making the encyclodpedia? That'll be awesome.

I really dont see a spin off or any kind of continuation happening. JKR has been writing this series for a very long time, and she planned out a lot of it from the start. She's said many times book 7 is the end, and I believe that. Much as many people will want a spin off or continuation, or perhaps even a book on the adventures of James Potter, Sirius and co but I dont see it ever happening. Though it would be cool.

I wish she would let someone do a spin off, I will be so sad if there is nothing after, I mean the movies are great but anyone reading the books already knows exactly what going to happen in them. *Is so not looking forward to OotP*. Something in the marauder years even... maybe... please? I know people get all sticky fingered when it comes to there characters and letting other people play with them but... for the good of me's everywhere that need more James and Siri in their life. Oh well, fan gic may have to keep me happy.
I really believe Harry is a Horcrux, it just makes the most sense, and killing himself off would just tie up the series, can't continue Harry Potter if he is dead right.
