Episode 7 Starting with the obvious, no Damon/Elena interaction! sorely missed the flirting & the tension.
Lexi, liked seeing how she got Stefan to get in touch with his humanity, I liked the wee amount of her character we saw.
Jeremy is an arse, I liked his character but kissing your ghosty girlfriend is still cheating, felt bad for Bonnie but loved her line to Jer about the least he could do for her is not explain.
Matt pissed me off, it was his fault that Bonnie had to do a spell to send his ditz of a sister back and he says "I want no part in this" not long ago he was whining that he wasn't useless.
I feel terrible for Stefan, enjoyed seeing Elena be strong and finally tell Stefan she won't wait much longer. Also LOVED the Alaric/Damon scenes, I lol'd at the bromance returning and Damons crappy apology and Alarics huge smile! Marie, Katherine isn't responsible for both brothers ;-) I don't want to give anything else away.Glad you are still watching those first seasons were pretty explosive!

Overall, I thought it was a pretty boring episode. Best scenes were Damon scenes. I agree, Nico, I LOVED his rekindled bromance with Ric. The smiles were great. They lurrrrrve each other!

Alaric & Damon are just fantastic together. I loved how catty he was because Damon killed him . Might have to get someone to make me a bromance banner!

Oh, don't worry, I gathered as much. From what they've said I know she's behind it at least in part but have had a theory for a while that one brother ends up turning the other--isn't that how it always works?--but I don't know the exact order (who sired whom, etc.) and I haven't gotten far enough to see how it actually happens, so all I have right now are theories. Waiting to watch last week's episode, but I don't know how much longer I'll be able to wait. I want to be sure to watch it before they take it off the CW site.

I finally caught up on last week's episode. I don't really have much to add. I LOVED seeing Lexi again. I think she's great. And I agree, Nico. I loved Elena's line at the end about not waiting for a ghost. I started out with Season 3 wanting Elena and Damon to get together, but now that I'm watching from the beginning I like her and Stefan together, too, so I'm so torn! I watched a few more Season 1 episodes yesterday. I met Anna for the first time. For some reason from what I've seen of her in Season 3 I thought she was a witch. It was very interesting for me finding out what she really was and what she was doing there. I loved the interaction between Elena and Damon at Bree's Bar, especially the bit about Elena not eating her pickles. (I had a friend who always thought I was weird for leaving the pickles off my sandwiches.) And the part when she asked why Damon brought her along and he admits she's not bad company. I don't remember the entire scene, but it was cute. So, Rick is a surprise. Well, kind of. So far he's just not what I was thinking he was. Anyway, interesting that his wife's name was Isabel. Am curious to see if she was the same Isabel as Elena's mom--please don't tell me, I want to find that one out on my own. I am beyond curious as to how he and Damon end up friends, since right now he's out for revenge for Isabel.

Episode 8 I know some people found this to be a boring episode but... I LOVED it. Not much action but I enjoyed the history very much. Michael is Klaus, Elijah & Rebeccas father! Didn't see that coming, the beginning of Vampires and the Vampire/Wolf feud. The tree that made the weapons to kill the originals, the Vervain (sp?) growing by the tree that kept them from compelling others. Brilliant.
Elena was great in this episode as usual. Not much Alaric/Damon action. Thank god no Jeremy.
I enjoyed the scene between Damon/Elena at the end "You will be the one to save him from himself, It won't be because he loves me, it will be because he loves you" . Also enjoyed them training, Damon's "Bang, your dead" and nuzzling on her neck was sweet.

Ep 8 Boring?! No way, i thought it was one of the best of the season. Great back story and knowing the origins of the original vampires and the original witch. Plus, Elijah Loved the bite on the neck during training too Nico And the whole last scene on the bed (including Elena trying to move the covers and pillows and Damon refusing to budge so she just gave up) was delicious yet again. Great ep.

I'm one of those who thought it was boring. I love history stuff, but sometimes I think it's OK to leave some things to the audience's imagination. I liked the fact that Michael is the pops but I don't like the way vampires were created. So I don't know, maybe I should watch it again, but overall, some of it was just too drama-y. The way that vamps were made seems too soap opera. Just because the mom wanted her kids to live forever? Really? I feel like vampires are way older than that, too, but I guess every show has their own mythology. The very last scene with Damon and Elena was the best part of the episode. BUT I was glad to see Elijah back for a bit!

Way older than the viking days? I actually think that is the perfect time frame for them. Ofcourse, Viking age is a big part of Great Britain & Europe's medieval history and we studied it every year in school but I can absolutely imagine Vampire Lore starting then.
I agree with both of you about Elijah!

Yeah. I mean maybe my mythology of vamps kind of stems from Buffy, but I picture vampires to have been around before civilized human society. Kind of a spoiler: Also, the hieroglyphs seem to be a bit out of date. If this did take place during Viking ages then there would have been a writing system that didn't involve pictures. I don't' know for sure, but I'm fairly certain. Oh and ... I thought the Originals didn't need rings to walk in the sun. That's what Elijah told Elena, so I'm confused about that now.

Episode 8 I loved it! I liked getting the story behind it all, maybe because I'm watching Season 1 at the same time, so it helped me bridge the gap between seasons a bit.
I don't know about the heiroglyphs, Bre. Many runestones have both words and images inscribed on them. They did have an alphabet, as you saw with the names that were inscribed. Depending on how literate the person was who did the inscribing, or how time-consuming writing the story with words may have been (as opposed to depicting it graphically) it may not have been that unusual to have that many pictures telling the story. Also, using the pictures may have kept it more secret should anyone have stumbled onto the cave...maybe they wanted a record of what happened but also wanted to try to keep it a secret as much as possible. Just some thoughts.
I absolutely loved all the interaction between Damon and Elena, especially at the end.

Bre, I could have sworn I heard Elijah tell Elena that at some point to but I wasn't sure but if you remember that to I guess it must of happened, I guess that was a mixup or something, they forgot that part There was a writing system though wasn't there? Rebecca, Klaus and Elijahs names were written on the wall in the dialect, is that what you mean? Did they mention who made the drawings? I assumed they used pictures because it was easier to tell the story. I liked the back story to Elena/Rebeccas pendant also.

Episode 9 Damon, stop stealing my heart I am a married woman! I loved this episode. More action and it was nice to see the return of Katherine. I always thought she never loved Damon but I guess she just loved Stefan more. Elena 'daggering' ( ) Rebecca was great, I didn't expect it at all and it shows how far she has come. I thought the moment when Stefan tackled Damon was very well written to. The look of hurt in both of their eyes. Damon & Elena at the end "Well, we will let him go" they have became much closer since Stefan turned to the dark side and it is nice to see that they are both realizing that. I LOVE the new storyline with Stefan, revenge!

Ep 9 It was a great mid season finale. I hate we don't get new eps till 5 Jan Damon is just perfection. IS can currently do no wrong in my eyes quite frankly Loved his scene with Elena where she grabbed him and told him they would be ok. Usually it's her that's broken and he is reassuring her and telling her it will be alright. Was great to see it turned around. Like you said Nico their relationship is different now and they know it. Could we not have got a little kiss to hold us over two months?!?!

I missed the episode due to a school event, so I'm going to try to catch it online within the next couple days. But I read all of your spoilers because I'm impatient.

and you left me in the dark ! . It was bugging me for ages, I recognized the voice to but for some reason I didn't notice she was an Aussie, I guess I was confused further because of her accent on VD, it's English right? now I can't remember! but on PLL it's Australian?
