i think the show is gonna kick ass, but studios are a bit wary when ordering new seasons, i heard that a decision will not be made on the terminator series until the season finale, studios just dont like taking chances any more

I saw a list of characters somewhere, I'll try to find it and link it.

Character list from Whedon.info. ADELLE DEWITT The fortyish iceberg who runs the Dollhouse where the human Etch-a-Sketches reside
PAUL BALLARD The thirtysomething G-man who is slated to become an offbeat love interest for Dushku’s "impressionable" Echo
BOYD LANGTON Echo’s handler and father figure
TOPHER BRINK The technogeek who enjoys his job as a Doll programmer maybe a little too much
SIERRA The knockout Doll who is as close to a friend as Echo has
VICTOR The distractingly handsome Doll who is called upon to play everyone from Errol Flynn to Robert DeNiro
NOVEMBER The Tracy Turnblad of the Dolls
DR. CLAIRE SANDERS The beautiful older woman with whom Topher is smitten[/b]

Interesting, thanks Irene. One thing Joss really seems to have a knack for is giving his characters intriguing names.

I was just thinking that when I posted it. Lol. If you follow the link where the the list is from, they've also put up which actors from Jossverse should play the respective roles. Pretty interesting read. www.whedon.info/Joss-Whedon-Dollhouse-Tv-Series,26195.html

Interesting choices. I'd probably be a little disappointed to see Joss go back to his old cast members (much as I love them) for the roles. One or two, maybe, but I'd like to see different people interpret his characters.

One or two, maybe, but I'd like to see different people interpret his characters. Me too. I wouldn't want to see the show being saturated with Jossverse actors. If that happens, we fans can't help but compare the different characters to the ones from Jossverse. I see this show as a new era from Joss and I don't want the fans and non fans to come watching this show and expecting another Buffy.

I'm not excited about this I wish he'd pitched Firefly again to the networks and tried to get that back honestly

More info on the characters. Adelle DeWitt 40 something, any ethnicity, beautiful, sophisticated, cold as an alp. Runs the Dollhouse with an efficiency that is both ruthless and protective. Would die before she showed anyone how lonely she is. Series Regular;
Paul Smith 30s, any ethnicity, good-looks hardened by a cynical distaste for most of humanity. An FBI field agent, he’s been chasing the urban myth of the "Dollhouse" long enough to have lost any shot at promotion. Becomes obsessed with, and twisted romantic foil for, Echo. Series Regular;
Boyd Langton Late 40s-60, any ethnicity, gruff, about to make the descent from ’good-looking’ to ’fatherly’. An ex-cop, Boyd is Echo’s ’handler’ - her guard/bodyguard. Hates himself for taking this job, bu he’d lay down his life to protect the people he feels he’s exploiting. Series Regular;
Topher Brink 20’s, any ethnicity, genius programmer who’s articulate, nerdily attractive and blithely amoral. He’s responsible for imprinting the dolls - and making sure they stay unaware of anything. Is fascinated by the science and kind of digging the illegality. Fun to be around, but might not be remotely trustworthy. Series Regular;
Sierra 20’s, Asian or any ethnicity - certainly not Caucasian. Strikingly beautiful. A Doll like Echo, she has every personality in the world but her own. Is not as self-aware as Echo, but is instinctively drawn to her as a friend. Series Regular;
Victor 20’s, any ethnicity, handsome and fit. A Doll, and the other closest thing to a friend Echo has. Childlike when he’s inactive, and everything from Errol Flynn to (young) DeNiro when he’s active. Series Regular;
November 20’s, any ethnicity, beautiful and heavy. Another Doll, a hopeful child in the house and everyone else you need her to be outside. A comforting, radiant presence, who tends to get fewer of the criminal gigs and more of the personal ones. Recurring;
Dr. Claire Saunders 30-60, attractive, smart and a little sad. Looks after the physical well-being of the dolls. Has an acid wit that she usually reserves for Topher, who may only be kidding about being smitten with her. (Or he may not). Recurring.[/i] Honestly though, I see this another Firefly waiting to happen.

It could be alright. Has anyone been cast, aside from Eliza Dushku?

Yeah i dont really see this being a huge success. But i may have said that about Buffy when it first came out I did say that about Buffy. Still, after Firefly and the networks handleing of it I am a bit gun shy. I hope this works out because I'd sure love to see a quality Joss show on the air again. And I certainly wouldn't say no to seeing Eliza on tv again.

Yeah i dont really see this being a huge success. But i may have said that about Buffy when it first came out The reason why I said that is because this show is shown on FOX. What are the chances of a good show, much less a Joss show, lasting on FOX? It could be alright. Has anyone been cast, aside from Eliza Dushku? I haven't seen a castlist anywhere so I can't say. Joss/FOX could be putting a tight lip on the cast.

Re the comments about Buffy early on, when SMG was telling her friends about it, their reaction was "Don't worry, you'll get another pilot next year". I think everyone wrote it off. As for Dollhouse, didn't Joss say somewhere that Fox has made a commitment to show all the episodes, and do things properly? As for the show, it looks interesting. I'll check out anything that Joss does, and the concept sounds different, which is cool. I mean, on paper, Firefly wasn't something I'd have gotten into, but Joss made it work for me. But if I don't like the show, I don't like it.

I'll watch it because it's a Joss show and I know he can't do no wrong. I'm not a sci-fi fan but I watched Firefly because it's Joss'. Ended up falling in love with the show. I'll definitely give this show a chance even though I'm not a ED fan. But for Joss' sake, I hope this show has the same success as Buffy. It's about time Joss has a successful TV show on air.

I'm actually excited about this...I think it's a great idea. Something new that's never really been explored before. I hope it kicks off to a good start and if it's as good as I hope, keeps running.
I'm particularly excited to see Eliza again. ;D

I think one of the things about Joss' shows is that it doesn't matter what the setting is. His shows are about the characters and how they deal with life, regardless of whether their problems are giant robots or that obnoxious secretary in the office.
