From IMDB:
Although the new Joss Whedon series Dollhouse had only a so-so debut on Fox last Friday, attracting 4.73 million viewers and winding up third in its time period, it climbed to No. 1 on Apple's iTunes site on Monday. Presumably driven by word of mouth, iTunes visitors lifted the show to No. 19 on iTunes on Saturday but by Sunday, it had risen to No. 2, behind BattleStar Galactica.
So it's not doing so well on air, but people are watching it via iTunes.

Hopefully, those who got the ep from iTunes will watch the next ep on TV, pulling the ratings up.

Joss can do better, and episode 1 was downright depressing, I agree Irene where is the Wit that only Joss gives us? Where are the characters that are actually interesting?.
The only thing that will raise Viewing Figures is a half decent episode.

Television Without Pity has done a comparison of the characters in Dollhouse to others in the Jossverse. I haven't seen it yet so can't comment. What does anyone else think??

I agree that Topher Brink (Fran Kranz) is like so much like Andrew. When I first saw him, I wondered if it was Tom Lenk. They look so alike and so do their characters.
But I disagree that Laurence Dominic (Reed Diamond) is like Jayne.

I watched tonight's episode and I was thinking how much Boyd Langton (Harry Lennix) was like Giles, kind of bugged me actually I felt like I was watching Firefly & Buffy mushed up into one.
I agree Irene, I thought it was Tom Lenk at first.
Tonight's Episode was actually a tad more interesting, though I missed the second half.

I watched about 5 minutes of the second episode, and turned it to Super Nanny. That's how much I didn't like it. Maybe if I watched more, I would have changed my mind, but it just isn't appealing.

Aye. The fact I missed the second half shows how little I was enjoying it. I can see a lot of FOX in this show and very little of Joss.

So true, Nico. Don't see this lasting very long. I wonder whether it would survive longer than Firefly.

Probably will. If Fox keep there grubby little mitts off of the scripts and realize they only screen the shows. Firefly had Joss written all over it, story lines, characters and witty humour. Even the Banter!
I found this on tvaddict.com
"This is actually the second episode filmed for DOLLHOUSE, the initial pilot was rejected by Fox, which is probably why this episode feels like there’s a lot handed to you in terms of exposition. Clunky lines like, “Let’s have no ex-cop heroics, huh?” hinder the flow of the show and make me think, “Come on, Whedon, you’re a better writer than that. There must have been a more elegant way to introduce that.”
With Cancel-Happy Fox who knows what the future holds.

Some really interesting spoilers. Makes me wanna see the show for it! I'm putting it in spoiler tags just in case. ATDN can now reveal that Alan Tudyk will play the rogue doll Alpha in Joss Whedon’s series ’Dollhouse’, which premiered on Fox on Friday February 13th.
The show features agents known as ’dolls’ who can be programmed with any skill or personality. Alpha has been described as having ’multiple personalities, fragmented and twisted from his time in the Dollhouse’. Hisname suggests that he was the first person to be engaged by those in charge of the Dollhouse. It appears that Alan has already appeared on screen, albeit obscured and in some scenes played by a double to throw viewers off the scent.

I thought the second ep was much better. More info on Alpha and what happened with him, which made the ep very intriguing.
Still not liking Echo though. But Topher is fast being my favourite character. ;D

My first impressions...
I watched last night's episode, which was #3, unless TVGuide.com lied to me. It's the first I've seen, so maybe it's just that I don't have the background the first two episodes would have offered me, but I enjoyed it. It wasn't keeping me gripping the edge of my seat, but I thought it worth having watched.
I'm not sure I dislike Echo as much as Irene does; it's more that she was a bit confusing for me (possibly because I'd not seen the show before). The FBI agent, whose name I don't remember, also intrigued me. And certainly the last scene between Echo and Audra (don't remember her "doll name") had me raising my eyebrows. (Again, it could simply be that had I seen the first two episodes I would have found nothing surprising or enticing in this one.)
The acting from some of the Dollhouse "higher ups" in this first impression seemed rough and wooden. The conversation and banter seemed lacking of Joss's signature wittiness. And the premise has certainly been done before, just not quite like this.
Verdict: I think I'll give it a shot. If nothing else, to find out that if the reason I was so intrigued by it was because I'd been left out of the loop in terms of the back story--or if it's because I do find the show intriguing in its own right.

Episode 3 was alright..certainly better than the first episode. Marie that last scene also intrigued me, in fact it was the best scene out of the entire 3 episodes. Echo seems to be developing a Personality... The conversation and dialogue is still..lets face it.. crap. Like I said before..the back story is interesting..and next weeks episode looks promising but why is the dialogue so bad?!. As for your spoiler Irene: Alan Tudyk will certainly bring some good solid acting into the show, but I worry his dialogue may completely ruin his character.

The dialogue isn't bothering me very much. It just doesn't feel like Joss and that's what's bothering me. It still doesn't feel like a Joss show. Nico - I can't wait to see AT playing Alpha. I can't picture playing a 'bad' guy though. I just keep picturing him as Wash! Will probably catch ep 3 by the end of this week.

I agree with Irene. The dialogue itself doesn't bother me. The fact that I know it's a Joss show and it's missing some of his characteristic dialogue is what stands out to me. I've not seen previews for this week's episode, Nico, but I'm glad you think they're increasing in...oh, what's the word I'm looking for? I can't seem to find it anywhere! Quality--I think that's the one I was looking for.
It certainly has potential--it's just a matter of what the higher ups choose to do with it.

Oh..that's what I mean, the dialogue bothers me because its clear there is alot of 'Fox' in there and a little Joss.

I haven't heard anything. That could be either a good thing or a bad thing . I hope it picks up though.
