The Hunger Games is a book series by Suzanne Collins. The three books in the series are: Summary stolen from Wiki: The Hunger Games trilogy takes place in an unidentified future time period after the destruction of North America, in a nation known as "Panem." Panem used to consist of a rich Capitol, located somewhere in the Rocky Mountains, and thirteen surrounding, poorer districts which cater to the Capitol's needs.
As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol wherein the thirteenth district was supposedly destroyed, every year one boy and one girl from each of the remaining twelve districts, between the ages of twelve and eighteen, are selected by lottery and forced to participate in the "Hunger Games."
The Games are a televised event where the participants, called "tributes," must fight to the death in a dangerous outdoor arena until only one remains. The winning tribute and his/her corresponding district is then rewarded handsomely. It is required viewing for everyone in the districts. They're also making a movie. Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone) is Katniss, Josh Hutcherson is Peeta, Liam Hemsworth is Gale, and Woody Harrelson is Haymitch. Donald Sutherland is Snow. I didn't think I would like the books, but I absolutely loved them - read all three in about 3 days - sitting on the tube, absolutely engrossed! I know Irene and Nico have started reading them, or are about to - has anyone else?

My Genre of choice is Scifi and fantasy types but I used to play alot of RPG style games and this book reminds me alot of them. I really can't put this book down I love the characters. I am only on about page 100 as I can only read when Emily naps or she is playing but I can't wait to see what is next!

I got my copy today! Can't wait to start on it.
This is random but I'm annoyed that my cover is different. I prefer the black one like the pic.

Eww. No wonder it bugs you . I only have a couple chapters left! Still super exciting, I had to get used to the way it was written all in Katniss' point of view I was expecting it to jump back to her home & Gale because I am used to books like that.

Just finished book 1. I enjoyed it alot not something I would usually read it reminded me of that Japanese show I saw ages ago where the two classes had to fight to the death. My only concern is how the other 2 books will play out, I hope all of the action wasn't only in the first!

I'm halfway through and I"m really enjoying it. I'm a little disappointed that we don't hear much about Gale. I thought he was a cool character. Better than Peeta.

I think Hunger Games is my favourite though.

Thanks Liz. Was driving me crazy trying to remember the name. I am assuming we see more Gale? I am looking forward to see the reactions Katniss' family.

I checked out the casting. Do not like that Lenny Kravitz is Cinna. WTF! Everyone is ok I guess. A bit iffy on Jennifer Lawerence as Katniss though. She's too pretty. Got the second book today! ;D Will get the third book in a couple of days time. Didn't know it was 20% off until I paid for it.

Almost done with Catching Fire. I thought none of the other two will be as entertaining as the first one but I was wrong. Really looking forward to the last one but I told myself I can't read it until I'm on my plane back.

Agreed. I thought the first had all the action but Catching fire was great! Full of action & Suspense I loved the closing line of the book.

You started on Mockingjay already right? Is there more Gale? I'm disappointed there isn't much of him in the second book. I was hoping for the opposite.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of LK for Cinna, definitely not what I had in my mind. I think they'd make JL look pretty grubby, she should be okay.

Grubby or not she isn't Katniss to me. Not at all what I pictured.
