Birdman.
Deserves all the recognition it's getting - especially with the direction and acting.

Mazerunner. Maybe it is because I feel so bad and can't concentrate on anything but I didn't enjoy it all that much. Kids loved it though.

The Theory of Everything - Yeah, i wouldn't be shocked if Redmayne wins Best Actor. Far out he gives a performance and a half as Hawking. The contortions he has his body in must mean he has quite the osteo bill these days! Jones is excellent too. And I liked seeing Charlie Cox. I thought he'd be in a lot more after Stardust. Some interesting direction and cinematography choices. Especially colour wise. But it doesn't distract at all. Definitely worth seeing. What We Do in the Shadows - so f**king funny. I'm not going to go into it, just see it. Its awesome

Whiplash. Nobody told me this was a horror movie! Actually enjoyed this more than Birdman. And why Miles Teller isn't nominated for anything is beyond me. I'm gonna watch The Spectacular Now again for him.

Horror?? I liked it. J.K Simmons is a lock. Fantastic performance. I agree its a little weird Teller got no love. Other recents ones I've seen: Birdman - Michael Keaton is fabulous. Ed Norton great too. The never ending long takes must have been hell to work out much less film. They certainly elevated what is really a fairly dull story. I give it credit for being fairly original and well acted all round but it's not going on my must see again right now list. Wild - yep, can see why Reese was nominated. She's great. I do not see why Laura Dern was. Not much of substance there. Held my attention and is a simple yet interesting story. It did not make me want to hike the PCT that's for damn sure! Grand Budapest Hotel - How awesome is Ralph Fines. What a character he has created. Looks great, funky story. Definitely a keeper. Can see why its getting so much love. Boyhood - fairly mundane yet oddly fascinating. Patricia Arquette deserves her accolades. Ethan is getting robbed!! Understated yet great. It might take top prize in a couple of weeks. Kingsman: The Secret Service - love Colin Firth. Bloody loved this movie. So funny, so stylish, so non stop. Really keen to see it again. A definite bluray purchase!!

Still Alice - Julianne Moore is brilliant. Just so good. I didn't think the film was any special but she is. She HAS to win. HAS to. I didn't want to deck Kristen Stewart Remarkable!! Butterfly is so sad

Jupiter Ascending - I liked it. Cool story, looks fabulous. Mila is good as always, Channing is hot as hell and fabulous. Has one of the best chase scenes i've ever seen on film. Worth the price of admission alone.

That's surprising! I've heard not so good things about it and it looks terrible. Might check it out once it's on DVD. Watched Father of the Bride last night. Love Steve Martin.

Yeah, I wasn't too keen but my aunt was. I thought, oh well I like Mila and Channing, and it's a freebie (she has like 6 movie cards at different cinemas) But I enjoyed it. I don't know WTF people are talking about with a complicated story. It's pretty f**king simple IMO. I thought it looked really great. And I couldn't fault the performances (M + C have extremely good chemistry). And i'm serious about the chase over and through Chicago. It's awesome.

Re-watched The Baby-Sitters Club before it leaves Netflix Boys Don’t Cry - Wow. Powerful film. Surprised I haven’t seen it before. Salem Falls - Oh dear Dawson. The Silence of the Lambs - Nice way to spend Valentine’s Day! Scream 4 -Re-watch. Love the start of this one. She’s All That - Classic, obviously. Eat Pray Love - Such a nice looking movie. Wayne’s World -Party time. Excellent. The Mighty - Blah. The Karate Kid - So he was actually 22 in real life, playing a 17, but looked about 15… The Cider House Rules - Lovely. The Brass Teapot - First half great. Fun little film overall though. Steel Magnolias - Decent Lord of Dogtown - Really good. I saw that the reviews for this were not fantastic, but I enjoyed it. Worth it for Heath alone.
Fifty Shades of Grey - Yes, yes, I know. But you know what? I honestly didn’t mind it. I thought bits of it were (possibly unintentionally) hilarious, and the script is obviously terrible. There’s the usual concerns with FSoG about abusive relationships, but he does talk about consent a lot. I think the book seems much more problematic, and in fairness, I haven’t read it, so can't compare. But it gets extra points for being nicely shot, a female director, having a great soundtrack, and Jamie Dornan being such a BABE.

St Vincent - Not as good as I was expecting. 6/10 Foxcatcher - Super weird! Channing Tatum was surprisingly good in it. Not sure why Ruffalo was nominated for the Oscar. Steve Carrel was super creepy! 7/10 Whiplash - LOVED IT! So crazy. JK was really intense. And Miles Teller was amazing. Snubbed this award season I think. 9/10

Insurgent.
Won't be as good as the THG franchise but was entertaining enough.
